I've been listening to the Backdraft theme a lot over the past few months and I knew the MAN OF STEEL theme was going to be similar, in Zimmer's use of a patriotic sounding, uplifting score with big, powerful drums!
Can't wait to hear the whole soundtrack, but not due till June 11!!

Woman shows her toddler the trailer
This was amazing to watch, especially when he puts his arm up. Reminds me of how crazy excited I used to get when my mum put STM on for me and it got to the helicopter rescue

I'm officially not worried about it anymore. It doesn't have to be brilliant. But its going to be good.

During filming for "Man of Steel", Michael Shannon was photographed wearing a motion-capture unitard (with the tracking dots all over it), leading to speculation that his General Zod would wear a computer generated costume of some kind. In an interview with Collider.com Michael Shannon confirms that he never actually had to wear the bulky metallic costume we now associate with Zod in "Man of Steel".
"I never wore the armor. That is a CG outfit, I think I can say that without getting assassinated, yes. Honestly, the armor would be very heavy - like in Iron Man, Downey Jr. doesn't ever wear armor - Oh, but there is a guy who wears it. I know the guy, the guy who was the Iron Man double, who had to wear that freakin suit was on Man of Steel and he said it was a freakin nightmare, it's so freakin heavy. They wanted me to have freedom of movement and if I would have actually been wearing a giant metal suit I would have been walking around like this, you know? So every time you see me in that metal suit just close your eyes and imagine me in an Arlequino outfit; green, red, blue, with the little tight around the midsection. Yeah, we all looked like bunch of dorks."
While he obviously can't say much about Man of Steel, Shannon had high praise for David S. Goyer's script for the film:
"I thought the whole script was just very sophisticated for the genre that it is. It was as sophisticated as scripts for other movies I've done that have been considered more highfalutin, or whatever. It has a lot of deep themes in it, and the way they deal with Kal-El's journey is really fascinating.
;D

Do you think Cavill's bearded look was modelled after Steve Reeves? That scene on the oil rig looks like Cavill came straight out of the 1950s Hercules movies.

I'm not familiar with Steve Reeves but looks-wise he would make one heck of a Superman.

I'm not familiar with Steve Reeves but looks-wise he would make one heck of a Superman. He was Mr Universe in the 1940s or 50s and then switched to acting. Yes, he would have been a great Superman. Here he is without the beard...

Shiiiiit, ATP, good call. I know him well from all the Hercules movies he's done that MST3k riffed on. Yeah, that probably was a factor, more than likely.

Great new in depth article on MOS and an even more interesting new article on Christopher Reeve in the new June issue of Empire Magazine.
Don't know how to upload a photo of the article here but perhaps someone else can do that.
It has two great photos of Chris Reeve.... One of him in jeans and trainers stretching out on his sofa. The other one is the Daily Planet set with Reeve staring at Margot Kidder's very revealing and sexy legs, as she sits on the desk with her skirt riding up rather high!
The Man of Steel article finds Empire on location during filming of the Smallville battle scenes and does reveal a few too many plot points, or perhaps you could call them minor spoilers, so beware.
But a great read nonetheless and it makes me think that this film will not only be the biggest of the year, but one of the biggest movies ever, and yes I am talking Avengers numbers here.

(not counting all the other uploads to youtube from other sources) so......momentum is building.

I got the Empire in the post yesterday. Got the Zod cover...so hopefully will get Supes in the store tomorrow.
Some good info on Chris Reeve I hadn't appreciated before especially him not attending the premiere of SIV.

This is a big reach. But looking at Cavill with the beard, the exposed chest, and the ripped clothing made me think of one thing- Steve Reeves' Hercules. It makes me wonder if maybe, just maybe, this movie will be smart and self-aware enough to riff on some of the things that influenced the Superman character through the years. Again, big reach. Ugh, I was pointing out Steve Reeves similarities before it sold out and went mainstream. /hipstermode

So IMAX will only be showing the 3d version correct? I want my first viewing to be in 2d, so IMAX will have to be one of the subsequent viewings.
