No, we need to see the movie. I'm done watching clips from here on out.

The newly shown flying scenes REALLY remind me of STM. You mean the one where we see an ant flying over the african safari?

they should have dropped him behind a green screen so we got something realistic, like they did in the 70's when he had to fly at great speeds. I mean to me this is the pinnacle, it looks so real

I'm just curious which flying shot UF thinks is similar to STM because I don't see it.

Yeah so lets use the technology!
I think he's talking about when he's flying over the heard towards the camera.

They've already clarified that Jenny is not a replacement for Jimmy.

Well, if Jenny Olsen is in the movie as a photographer working for the Daily Planet, and there's no Jimmy Olsen to be found, what would you call that? ;D
If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck...

I would care more if this wasn't news already like a month or two ago.

I wasn't sure if there had been anything official on it until now.
I don't really care personally. By (presumably) having Lois know his identity right away that already changes things from how we're used to.

What I want to know is when did Lawrence Fishburne get so fat? He started gaining weight after The Matrix sequels paid him a shitload of money. He kinda vanished for awhile, I remember seeing him in Predators and I remember thinking

He kinda vanished for awhile, I remember seeing him in Predators and I remember thinking I know he was on CSI for a while, but I'm not into procedurals. Didn't catch him in that. I need to start Hannibal so I can watch him. Loved the guy since "Event Horizon."

But the "camera" needs to be closer so we can actually tell that's it's a) superman and not some black squiggle, and b) so we can see Cavill's flying chops, so to speak. So far all the flying shots convey a controlled chaos -- reminiscent of Reeve turning back the world in terms of energy exerted and pure speed. I think that would be more effective if it's not overused. The hovering is very cool. So maybe we'll see more balance in the film.

Does anyone else get the feeling that if anything lets the movie down, it will be Zod and the villains?
Everything I have seen just looks so overdone. Weird armour and robot suits... helmets that look like the Space Jockey from Alien... huge robot spiders... a mob of villains that looks like vampires... wolverine-style knives that shoot out of someone's wrist... Zod with a cut on his face looking like Frankenstein...

Performance wise? Not worried. The only aspect I'm worried about is that they took Krypton TOO sci-fi, like gross Alien/Prometheus biotech where everything looks like it's covered in snot. I expected a more sterile, chrome-plated Krypton. But hey, if it all makes sense and there is some aspect of the plot that informs the design, great.

Asgard in Thor is the right look for Krypton.

Colour me absolutely unimpressed with the majority of the flying shots released thus far. I want to see Cavill in the flying scenes, not a CGI rendering that zips by and fails to convey the wonder, majesty and beauty of Superman being able to fly.
And in what little we've seen of Cavill 'flying' so far, I don't think he's sold it. Need to see more shots first before I can call it though.

I agree.
So far, all the flying shots have looked like those in Superman Returns.
I have not seen anything yet that comes close to Reeves first flight in the fortress or any of his flying in S3.

Kris's old sig is my favourite so far, when he flies towards camera and we see the shadow, then watch him go off into the canyon.

Even the small number of flying shots released so far piss all over the majority of what we got in the Reeve films. I think anyone saying otherwise is kidding themselves on. Speed is a huge aspect of Superman, it's the one which was most poorly conveyed in the earlier films. In the Reeve films that was done with a plastic figurine whizzing by (approaching the Eiffel tower and flying towards to catch the spire during the Metropolis Battle). If you think those shots are better then you need to lay off the glue. The only shots in STM that for me still look absolutely fantastic are the New Mexico flying scenes he he's flying in front of the camera. Reeve looks fantastic. But those shots where the camera is behind him? They don't look good anymore, lets be honest. I genuinely don't think people want to see someone dangling in front of a green screen, rather something new that can give you a feeling over the power of his flying. In Superman Returns the flying is actually one thing I thought was really well done, aside from 2 or 3 really horrible fully digital shots. For me this is as good as anything i've seen on film thus far Hater's gun hate though right!
