Let's be thankful that Frank Cross didn't do the ads for this movie. We'd be under a lot different impression.

I'm not going to downplay my disappointment that only Walmart got to sell Thursday premier tickets. I think that limits making it a cool event ... because a lot of people fucking hate Walmart.
But, Jesus H Christ tap dancin' on the cross, I will not let you guys dampen my mood this week. I'm having a Nolan/Goyer marathon all week, bitches! My birthday is coming up soon and I'm getting lots of Superman shit! As Shawn and Gus would sing, suck iiiiiittt!

I'd like to see an interview with John Williams and get his opinion on the Zimmer MoS music. Please.

I'd say there'll be more than a few groans.

Man, I'm so excited about this.
I've learnt my lesson from Superman Returns, when I felt I practically knew the film already before I went in. After I saw the Third Trailer, which showed a bit too much for me, there's been a total embargo on trailers, tv spots, making of videos and definitely clips. I'm being cautious with the interviews too.
This a chance to go in fresh, and discover Superman again for the "first" time.
I'm a bit curious as to why, with less than a week to go, there are no official reviews out. Why the tight lock-down?

Been off here a while and the forum has a different layout... Anywho! I have been avoiding new trailers and such for a while now. I can't believe we'll see the film this week, my god!
I'm going to a staff show at the cinema where I used to work when it's in and ready. I am so excited for this.

I'm like shiney. I don't really need it to be anything more than "superman begins". It has the scope and action of "avengers" and as long as it doesn't cheapen itself like "into darkness" or saturate the script with juvenile jokes it'll be fine.
I already know what the most contraversial element is, and have a comics-based precedent for it.
A fun ac5ion packed superman movie. Win.
Last night we watched "you will believe" "superman 3" and "superman4 ". I can appreciate how bad a superman movie can be. Also- I am not going to forget the context- I'm watching through the prism of what we know of the history of this franchise, the development heck, mixed bag of 06, and so on. I'm looking at this fully cognizant of where I was with it 2 years ago.

In other words- we're all just nutty about superman and so we have a bigger emotional investment- after excellent trailers we're reigning in expectations-
The challenge, as you are not expecting a perfect/life altering film, is: Are going to be MORE critical/LESS forgiving of "man of steel' than you would any marvel, or "franchis" movie?

I don't know why, I just feel like everything is falling into place this time.
When Superman Returns came out, I was so bloody excited about it. I couldn't wait. But at the time I remember having to persuade people that it was going to be good, that it would be worth getting excited over. There wasn't actually any buzz about it.
This time, it genuinely seems like the world is ready for Man of Steel, and that they're actually excited about it, without me having to be enthusiastic about it at all.
I'm not expecting this to be the best film ever, or even perhaps the best comic book film ever. A 'Batman Begins' quality film would suffice for me!

sounds a lot like his role in matrix 2 and 3. (maybe thats why they cast him?)
June 9. 2013: Harry Lenix Talks "Man of Steel" Blackfilm.com has published an interview with actor Harry Lennix, who plays General Swanwick in the upcoming film: How would [sic] describe General Swanwick? Harry Lennix: He is a company man and by-the-books general. He wants to play by the rules. He wants to do everything accordingly, but this is a highly unusual circumstance, and the rules don’t apply here. He finds himself adapting to the contingency as oppose to following protocol. At best, I would say he’s a straight arrow.
i like this guy. cant tell you how relieved i was when we learned he was NOT cast as "president".

so henrys back to mere-mortal (yet still better than us) size/shape. why cant he have that good of a haircut in the film? seriously, my biggest nitpick about his "look" is the frompy hair. Playing a superhero isn't just laughing your way to the bank. Henry Cavill spoke to USA Weekend in detail about the immense physical effort and discipline that goes into a role like this, specially Superman, the biggest, buffest and greatest Superhero of them all.
On why it was important to him to transform his body It was a big responsibility. It was very important to represent the character’s physicality in the right way. I was living and breathing Superman. I just wanted to do this right.
On being impressed with his own transformation I have shrunk down to a more normal size now. You should have seen me then. I was considerably bigger. There are a couple of shots of me that I think, ‘My goodness. I was definitely a large chap.'
On avoiding steroids to achieve his physique (Mark Twight) asked, ‘Would you like to use steroids or HGH (human growth hormone) to get to where you want to go?’ I immediately said no. And he said, ‘Good. Because if you did, I wouldn’t train you.’ To take a shortcut to get to that place is not what Superman represents. That was important to me.
On would he be ready to again train so hard for the sequel Absolutely. Yes, it was hard work. Yes, there were points I thought I couldn’t do it. But you can do it. And I did.

this.... does NOT move the needle one way or another for me. i might actually...like it less.
During his show Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy offered his own mini review regarding the summer 2013 Blockbuster Man of Steel. While talking to Christopher Meloni, who is also starring in the summer blockbuster, he stressed how epic and amazing the film is.
“Christopher Meloni, I’ve got to tell you, I saw Man Of Steel, blown away. This guy, Zack Snyder, this movie’s insane. Visually it’s insane. I don’t know how you did this. I don’t know how you pulled it off,” Jimmy said.
Meloni then told Jimmy that he has no idea how Zack did it either and how exicted he was for the fans to see it. Fallon added: “I was like I don’t know if they were actually there, because things were blowing up and breaking. I didn’t know what was real and what’s computer generated.” The host then went on to say how Zack Snyder managed to pull this "realistic" version of Superman and how insane the movie is.

because.... i dont hate this guy- i like him, he's funny- but he...
...he laughs at his own jokes. he's entirely vapid. his endorsement is basically meaningless to me.
like i say- it doesnt move the needle. but he's part of a crowd to where- i am NOT at all concerned as to whether they like it or not.

Agreed. Fallon is so milquetoast to me. Seems like he's still intimidated by the camera, after all these years in the business. I don't understand his popularity.

Btw, I'm not worried about Shannon at all, but in that clip that I posted, Crowe dominates in that scene. He'll be brilliant.
I think the embargo ends after today, so then we'll find out if it really does suck or not.

Quick review from some who saw a screening. Also had pictures of their advance screening tickets as proof, apparently he mentioned spoilers but in this cut and paste job the spoilers have been removed so have no fear

@kris-
That what I'm anticipating- my second fave superman film. Nothing will surpass my nostalgiac bias for S:TM. I don't even want anything to.
But MOS needs to take that template and apply it to modern cinema- without lowering it to the dullards.
