I doubt that another Superman movie series DVD boxed set will come, unless they do something better for a Blu-ray release, who knows? I pretty much think they've topped themselves with what we got with the 2006 DVD releases, plus both Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut and Superman Returns being added to the Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition was beyond a dream come true in a tin case. The only thing was that Superman IV: The Quest for Peace still didn't have all the cut scenes footage, as like the infamous photo still of Clark paying a visit to the Kents at the cemetary, as one example, although Warner Bros. claims they found most of the cut scenes as well as they could. The inclusion of whether the 1984 spin-off movie Supergirl should have been included as part of the was a matter of debate as well. I can't see what else new can be added, at least to my knowledge.

Yeah, and probably no Blu-rays in the near future either. Theatrical cuts of STM and S2 in HD are really all I need.

Michael Thau must have put in some personal favors to have his cuts released on Blu-ray. That or WB still feel bad about he entire Donner thing so they just released his cut. I dunno.

If I had the editing software and a BD-ROM/HD-DVD drive, I'd take the 2000 version and recut it to theatrical and apply the DVD's 1978 audio.

Agreed. My guess is that because Singer wanted to 'link' (sorta) SR to the Reeve films, that that helped the cause of having it all boxed together, especially when you look at the packaging. If they went with Burton -who wanted to do his own thing with Supes- I wonder if WB marketing and dvd dept. would still have pushed to get this box set out.
(In contrast to the Batman films which don't really want to be associated with the older ones- maybe that's why there was no tin collection there?)
For sure, without Singer's cutting the way for Brando footage to get released, we wouldn't have had the Donner cut....
But back to the question: sadly, probably the one tin is it for a looooong time. *sigh*

I'm fine with the most recent set for the foreseeable future. I don't think we could have asked for much more; I mean seriously, they dug out old footage from a 1987 Cannon film for it. Not many new DVDs of older films get that kind of treatment. I feel very lucky that we got what we did- and we got it in a beautiful tin case, at that.

Our best bet in whenever the next Superman movie comes out. And even then, WB is probably just going to take the Collector's tin contents or the Chris Reeve Collection DVDs and repackage them as blu-rays like they did with the 90s Batman movies. I don't see anything new being included.

Agreed....the most I could see happening is maybe a new retrospective documentary about the new and older films, with new Donner footage---(If lucky) ....but, like everyone else here, I, too, was amazed at what WB did deliver the first time around. Wasn't perfect, but was still far far more than I would have ever expected to come out.

Still one of the most beautiful movie cases I've ever seen. It's gorgeous! I have all my boxsets on top of my movie cabinets, and it's in front.
I should watch that "You Will Believe" doc. That thing was incredible. AND the Requiem for Krypton doc on SR's disc, that was also quite something. Luckily I have the HD DVD version so I can watch it in 1080i!

I'm keeping my HD DVD. It has the deleted scenes and everything else in high definition. The BluRay does not. Just the movie's in HD on the BluRay, everything else is in SD. F that.

Aye. AYE.
Keith, didn't you get some surgery to help out with your hearing? Was that you? Maybe I'm making that up.
I learned ASL in college, just took one semester, I remember a little, but I completely IMMERSED myself in it when I was taking it. I'm really good at learning languages for some reason, and ASL was no different. Christ, I even DREAMT in sign language sometimes, and accurately.

Back when my hearing was dropping to nothing (even when wearing a hearing aid i couldn't hear) they were talking about the possibility of getting choclear implants, so I could be able to hear again. But my hearing has to be pretty much non existent for that. I mentioned that on the board a while ago, prolly where you got it from. I know a few things in ASL but pretty much just my ABC's. When I was little they wanted (schools and mom) me to learn it but I refused. I guess it was just me admitting that one day I could be completely deaf and didn't want to do it. But I'm such a good lip reader that and I can talk normal that I don't really need ASL myself.

While I agree with your reason for not wanting to trade the hd dvd in. You should know all that you have to send back in the cover, you get to keep the disc and case. So having a BR back up of the film is worth 5 bucks if your hd player ever crashes.
