Hey guys, Sorry I've been away for so long -- I've been kinda busy with my own life. Superman CINEMA has been going for 15 years and I feel now is the time to close up shop. It's not necessarily the end, the website's presence and material will probably end up on another website. I thought I should tell you guys first because you have been helping keep the flames burning even though I've not updated the website in a long time. I'll talk about all this in my last update. It feels like the right time to move on. I've made a lot of friends, had many arguments, but most of all it was good fun. I got to meet Tom Mankiewicz and I miss him dearly. Got to meet ahem, Russ etc There's so much to conclude, I'll leave it for the final website update. I'm on facebook.com/dschauhan77 Speak soon.

Gandy, I would be more than honoured to host the domain and content to preserve it.

A lot of the content is gonna move over to another website (need to speak to the owner, but it will be in great hands) but most of it is out of date and requires a re-write so this gives me an opportunity to start fresh.

Wow, sad news indeed! I really hope someone makes a mirror site of it to preserve it just the way it is.As much as I like Caped Wonder's site, I'd much rather be able to look at the Superman Cinema site just as it has always appeared. Paul would make an excellent host for that sort of thing. Do you know how to do mirror sites Paul?

Please don't mirror the site -- it's seriously out of date and needs a major rewrite.

This is very sad news indeed... I've been a fan of the site since its inception and I could never imagine a time where it would no longer exist. It's been such an invaluable resource of information to us all for such a long time, that it's going to be very difficult to not have it around.
While I disagree that it's the right time to move on (with a Superman film currently in production), I respect your decision Gandy and wish you good luck.

Please don't mirror the site -- it's seriously out of date and needs a major rewrite. No worries. As much as it saddens me to see Superman Cinema go, I see no better fit for it than Caped Wonder. Just to add...Thank you for the site over the years Gandy. It was my education to the politics of the Salkind era and the reason for me finding this forum. [raises glass]

It's very sad to hear this news, but I understand if it's time for you to move on. It sounds like you have a plan for keeping all the important material from the site available, which is very good to hear.
If you need any help with the process of preserving everything, please ask. I'll help any way I can.

It's a little painful to shut it down -- very painful, but it gives me some time to edit and preserve the material on another website and capedwonder seems the best place for it. So much has been achieved in 15 years and it all started with speculation and dreams. 15 years later... you want to see Donner footage? DVD. Superman 4 soundtrack? FSM CD. Wow, amazing to think what we have received.
I'll be around.

Sad to hear its ending. It truly was the greatest site on net for Superman movie info.
Between SC and Superman Web Central a LOT of stuff got done that never would have happened otherwise. Stuff that we all dreamed about for years that we never thought we'd see. SC was a great relay for the voices of the fanbase.

I have been reading these boards on and off years before joining up.
I thought I was the only person who loved these films and the character.
Here I learned of all the extra footage, looking out for who shot what. The famed RIC/ABC of II. The alternate opening of II,Clark's re-powering,all that stuff I read it here, first.
Also, the debacle surrounding Donner and the Salkinds and of course everyone's admiration of Christopher Reeve.
Here,I was also introduced to the three hour cut of STM. Gold for fans like us. Through contacts on here I received a copy of the RIC of II. Just excellent.
We still have a long way to got with MOS,which I looked forward to sharing with everyone here...
I hope we can all reconvene at Caped Wonder (is there even a forum on there?)

Sad to hear it end. Been coming here twice a day everyday probably for the last 4 years now. Sure I'm only interested in stuff relating to S2 fan edits, but I've had a good time here. Great discussions. I hope we all find a new place to continue our discussions.

I believe that has been firmly established, 'gazer. Sorry to hear about SC's departure from the intertubes. That's how I found the board, and found out just why the ABC cut, which I grew up watching, did not match the DVD of Superman II. Very enlightening. Thanks for all your hard work, Gandy.

Wow.
Well, I mean, I haven't gone to the main site in a while, but GOD...
This place has changed my life. Without any doubt or hesitation, it has completely changed my life. I wouldn't be where I am or who I am if it wasn't for this place throughout the past 15 years of my life.
Good luck with everything, Dharm. Thank you for the past decade and a half. You've done more than you know.

Same as. My morning rutual is read the online paper, check mail, facebook, get new torrents, comingsoon.net, twitter then FOS. EVERY morning this long time. I remember working in Bose in '00 reading EVERYTHING on Superman then in '01 I joined. It's a part of my life that I'll never forget, captived that there were likeminded people who admired and were enchanted by 4 movies that changed their lives too, all brought together by a single website.
I got to hang out with Paul (Ral) and Indo in Belfast and watch STM in an old theatre with them (still have to upload that photo of us) and this X-Mas I AM meeting Russ for a pint of Guinness and next summer Kev for a complete tear of drink since we just missed out this summer!!
Love ya man for doing that otherwise none of us would have ever met.
