There is a pretty funny podcast called "How did this get Made" which is hosted by Paul Scheer (from "The League"), where they discuss that very question regarding certain films. Well the most recent episode was actually filmed live, with special guest Damon Lindelof. It's pretty entertaining, I think everyone should give it a listen. The episode is being released in two parts, with the second part being released next week, and Jack Halloran is a guest on part II. Here's part 1, which in and of itself is 73 minutes.
Comes across as a bit of cock. Several anecdotes about how he solves his problems by grabbing people by the throat. He also likes having a pop at people who either can't or won't contribute their version of events.
I'd take his stories with pinch of salt. He's apparently forgotten who filmed the scene where the villains burst into the Daily Planet.

Pinch of salt is always best... though I was a little suprised by how there didn't seem to be a trace of restraint in taking verbal potshots at people who weren't there, but o well.
I agree about the bit with the Daily Planet- that was odd. On the flip side, even with salt, it was refreshing to have someone who had zero censors share what he saw on the making of STM & SII.....always interesting....

Listened to the first part all the way through because I honestly had nothing better to do. Didn't laugh once. None of the jokes were funny. All typical, easy jokes that I've either heard already or made myself. Jokes that 6-12 years would make if they watched the film today. The "men" on this panel all had lisps, which gets real annoying real fast when they're talking about a movie with a character who's name has the letter S in it. The girl hardly said anything, so why even have her there? Also, I'm guessing this theater is based out here in NY because the overall tone and inflection in their voices sounded very "hipster", meaning condescending (I'm smarter/better than you because I'm "X" and you're "Y") and all those other LOVELY personality traits this cancer of a click I am now surrounded by every time I go downtown.
Whew, never thought I'd get this hyped up to defend a movie like Superman 3. Anyway, I hope they become sterile from wearing tight jeans so they don't pass along their genes further onto the circle of life, or as I call it, the circle of $#!+.

I dunno.... I guess I hate/hated what Lester did in SII/SIII so much, I didn't/don't mind ANYONE talking down to SIII on any level. I took their bashing of Superman 3 as an indirect compliment towards STM and of what Donner did.
The one for The Room is definitely gut-busting hilarious.
Ah. Now that one I'd probably love. Now I'm gonna have re-tract my earlier comment and see if they've also reviewed Troll 2, Toxic Avenger, Brain Dead, The Evil Dead films, and Riki-oh: the story of Ricky. Bad/good movies FTW.
Chris Reeve was an arse during the Superman years, but he became a decent person later and was always good to his fans. Does Jack mention that? Not really, but he'll bash him for a few moments of egoism on Superman. He'll bash Lester for shooting the Paris scenes ultra fast in rainy weather, yet if he did his b.g research Lester always shot fast because he was schooled in television and he doesn't romanticize the shithole that is Paris. Sarah Douglas preferred Lester's shooting because he was direct and fast.
I often wonder if Donner hadn't wasted so much time shooting all that extraneous crap later seen in the KCOP cut, then the movie might not have been overbudget and behind schedule, and Donner might have kept his job for Superman II. I understand shooting a little extra to pad yourself in the editing room, but that was waaaaaaay too much footage. There's probably more on the cutting room floor than in the movie itself.
Lester's job was to shoot as quickly as possible, because of Donner. But Jack doesn't care about reality. ;D
I recall reading somewhere that Hackman found Donner's directing style "exhausting". Pity he never tried out Lester's style as it seems the opposite.
If the results of Lester's 2 were as good as Donners (ie a lot of positive Lester on the net) then I don't think Halloran would be so personal
Halloran seems proud for some reason that his family are gangsters and thugs. He thinks solving problems are best accomplished by engaging in physical violence, very immature.
Jim, I think maybe a lot of second/third unit shot most of the crap but I deffo agree. It didn't seem quite well planned looking at the KCOP. Thank heavens the editors were on top form
EnriqueH: It can be built on forgiving the mistakes of the past, and remembering the overall experience, which I think has been positive for most. The question is: Will individuals let go of their pride, make up and shake hands, or stay angry forever?

cypher85: lol, i didn't type darn! I still think about this board, and can't believe that a Superman film (Man of Steel) was the downfall of a board dedicated to celebrating superman.
