Anyone from the UK been to / going to the Collectormania this weekend? www.collectormania.com/miltonkeynes/Brandon Routh is there, according to that website. They've also got Brian Blessed, Richard Kiel and Carl Weathers. If anyone goes, try to post photos please.

On a semi-related note, saw Routh recently as 'himself' in an interview promoting his new film- and with the way he carried himself, humble body posture/polite etc.--- it eerily echoed how Reeve carried himself as Supes in STM during the Lois interview.
I have this odd feeling that Singer mainly saw how Routh carried himself as a person and just thought that many of Routh's natural qualities may have been more important than the degree of acting experience--- ((*edit: I should note that I'm not bashing Routh's acting experience, but I'm pointing out that wasn't nearly as extensive as Reeve, but just that maybe the level of acting experience wasn't important if he as a person already seemed to give off Superman virtues naturally))
What a wasted opportunity to have someone who exudes the qualities of the character, and have a studio that just doesn't want to use him again- *sigh*....

ATP, maybe you & Russ could show up & piss in the face of everyone there who has anything positive to say about Routh. Then hopefully a mob of fans would kick you asses

That's a pretty decent line-up they've got there. If they all show that is. A lot better than the usual ex stars of Prisoner Cell block H and Coronation Street they have at Memorabilia in Birmingham.
I was going to say it's a shame to miss the opportunity of meeting Routh, but I have the feeling he'll be doing the "line up and buy a signed photo circuit" for the foreseeable. I wonder if he'll be signing a lot of lacrosse equipment this weekend? ;D

I'd like to meet Carl Weathers. I'd shake his hand and say, "Dillon, you son of a bitch..."

Mr. Routh was in my town a couple weeks ago for the preimere of "Crooked Arrows" (or something) in Syracuse, New York. I could have caught a glimpse of the actor, had I not given a rat$ a$$. I also thought it was a bit telling that the local papers referred to him as "the star of Superman Returns". You don't hear "Brad Pitt, the star of XXX". If you're big-time, your name sells itself.

Can anyone remember if AlexS publicly wished physical harm and damage to personal property on a member?
No, and that just confirms what some of us have known the last 4 years.

'Big time'--- where one's name is recognized immediately, doesn't necessarily = quality of artist. Paris Hilton is big time. So is George Zimmerman. So, having a subtitle for the name isn't an indicator that one is a lesser artist because their name does or doesn't sell itself, right?
Also, let's look at this: Superman Returns was 6 years ago, and since then- Routh didn't have a ton of films come out right away, so reminding people who he is and what he did is nothing wrong- and "Superman Returns" grossed almost $400 worldwide--- I don't think any of us here could have done that, cast as Superman, so that shouldn't diminish the importance of Routh's screen presence to Superman Returns' box office.
Also - ONE movie - no matter how big - isn't enough to sell an actor's name in itself. Mark Hamill was in "Star Wars", but for a long chunk of time, he was "Mark Hamill, the star of "Star Wars". Sam Worthington I think still gets "Sam Worthington, star of Avatar". I don't recall times where an actors' name is strong enough overnight with only a few films, even if big hits.
Routh still hasn't come out with a ton of films or work as of yet. Possibly waiting for WB to come to a decision on a sequel probably didn't help.
Few actors get the celeb notoriety and fame of Brad Pitt, if so, it takes more than a couple of movies to do that, and time, if it happens.
Realistically, he may or may not achieve that- but just as there's a ton of actors who have great talent but never find the roles that line up to make them as popular as Paris Hilton, but it's more the word of mouth about how he treats fans in person that makes actors gold or turds imo... and so far from what I've heard from friends that have met Routh at conventions, he's still Superman.

I'd love to meet him. Bet he is a pretty big fan of Superman generally and would be nice to have a chat about Superman stuff. Shame it's too far from where I am though.

Routh recently admitted that he passed on several roles because he was waiting for the sequel to Superman to be greenlit & also because he didn't want to play any role that he thought would tarnish the name of Superman because he was so protective of the image of the mantle.

The absolute nicest celeb that I have ever met. And its not an act. A very genuine human being who probabley has more respect for the character than anyone in the movie industry. Just a real decent human being from what I could ascertain.

That's (sincerely) awesome of Routh but I think he made a mistake. Wonder why he didn't do any stage work to help hone his craft?
Routh's a good guy, he deserved better, but being nice doesn't necessarily guarantee success, sadly.
I wonder if we'll see him on the big screen again? TV is probably his best bet.
