CASTLE Actress Molly Quinn To Voice SUPERGIRL In Untitled 2013 DC Animated Feature
The young actress reveals that she will provide the voice for Supes' little cousin in a future DC animated movie. No title yet, but from the details provided by Yahoo it would seem to be an adaptation of the Superman: Brainiac arc..
Mark "RorMachine" Cassidy - 7/16/2012
There was no Castle panel at this year's SDCC, but that didn't stop 18-year old actress Molly Quinn from stopping by to soak up the geekiness. The self professed "fan-girl" revealed to Tv Guide Magazine that she would be providing the voice for Supergirl in a 2013 DC project - "I'm so excited to be a part of the DC family, not to mention helping Superman fight crime. Yes, I am a supergirl!"

If this is the Johns arc, and they follow it up with something like New Krypton, it'll be cool!

July 16, 2012: Molly Quinn to Voice Supergirl in New Animated Movie Molly Quinn TVGuide.com reports that Castle star Molly Quinn will voice the role of Supergirl in an upcoming animated movie set to be released in 2013.
The 18-year-old actress is voicing the role of Supergirl in an upcoming animated project based on a popular DC Comics storyline. "I'm so excited to be a part of the DC family, not to mention helping Superman fight crime," Quinn told TV Guide Magazine. "Yes, I am a supergirl!"
The as-yet-untitled project, the latest in a successful series of DVD movies from Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment, adapts a 2008 story by Geoff Johns featuring Superman's nemesis Brainiac and the bottle city of Kandor, which survived the destruction of Krypton, Superman's home planet.
"I'm thrilled about our 'Super' project," she said of the movie, which will be released in 2013. "And that my character happens to be named Supergirl? Well, that's just a bonus."
The story described above is the "Superman: Brainiac" comic book saga written by Geoff Johns in which Superman faces off against Brainiac, who (Superman discovers) is responsible for the disappearance of both the entire Kryptonian city of Kandor and the death of hundreds of Kryptonians. When Brainiac turns his sights to Earth and adds the city of Metropolis to his collection of miniaturized specimens, the Man of Steel must confront a far more powerful and cruel opponent than he ever dreamed of, and Supergirl must overcome her own misgivings about her power in order to stop Brainiac's robotic minions from destroying the Earth.

This could be great. It can't be any worse than Brainiac Attacks.
Its strange but I was daydreaming yesterday about a live action JLA movie released circa 1994 where Brainiac threatens earth.

If they made him look like Chris Reeve, what if they used Williams' music in it?

If they made him look like Chris Reeve, what if they used Williams' music in it? good point, the williams music was adapted for the 80's ruby-spears superman cartoon, and the whole angle geoff johns (and donner) had was to retcon a combination of donnerverse/neo-silver-age. williams music would be entirely appropriate.

In an interview with TV Guide, the movie's producer James Tucker commented on the men that will provide the voices for Superman and Brainiac. On Matt Bomer.. "He had a jovial energy that was a little counter to what we usually do with Superman," Tucker says. "But he also had that decency in his voice that Superman really needs no matter which way you go with him." On John Noble.. "I could listen to him all day. John had a lot of energy and he really got into the psychology of what was motivating Brainiac. He brought a level of intelligence, but also that slight bit of crazy that a super villain needs to have under the surface to make him compelling." For the rest of the interview click on the link below. The movie also stars Stana Katic as Lois Lane, and Molly Quinn as Supergirl. There is no official release date yet. WOW! Bomer again! Jesus, the dude was clearly destined to play Superman, it just never happened fully for him. That car commercial, this, after not getting SR, he sure is reaping the benefits.

I like that WB animation is choosing from some of the best stories--- But I just wish that the animated art was as good as the original comics art (or even close to). After the disappointing "Batman Year One" adaptation, I would actually have prefered that they did a 'motion comic adaptation' instead.... but, still, it's great to have that Geoff Johns story animated in some form rather than not at all.
The closest match in terms of visuals I'd have to say was "New Frontier"- but that probably had the advantage of having the writer/artist be someone who was in animation to begin with.

Animation looks nothing like Gary Frank's artwork. Unstoked. Carry on. i KNEW you were going to say that. and i don't blame you. thing is, gary frank DELIBERATELY made his superman look like chris reeve (and lois like early STM CUTE margot) and his style was/is- "busy" (reminds me of frank quietly in that regard) and would be tough to animate. the strength of the story has me still engaged, but yeah- i'd like a less streamlined look myself. here's hoping.

Oh, shit, how'd I miss this? I just spotted it on YouTube today.
I...don't know. I don't think I care for Supes' voice. I don't know that I care for any of their voices, or the look of the whole thing. I just don't know.
I download these things. If they impress, I buy. If they don't, I didn't waste money. They don't always impress but I do usually buy.

I will probably end up buying this, just because I enjoyed the story so much in the comics, but..... I agree. The voices and the look I"m not that crazy about. I know that DC/WB animation has made a conscious choice to change the looks/voices with each feature, but I find it annoying..... when a voice works and fans love it/ and/or a look, why don't they just stay with it? I can't imagine the sales skyrocketing because of changing Superman or Batman's voice and look with every animated feature. ugh.

I'd just as soon have everything voiced by the cast of the Timmverse (Kevin Conroy, etc.) but I've grown to like many of the new voices brought into the fold by the DC animated movies. Pauley Perrette as Lois Lane especially in "Superman vs. The Elite," which itself was possibly my favorite film of the lot. As for the look, I've grown accustomed to the "Young Justice" designs used in some of the films and would be happy if they'd just stick with those moving forward.
With "Superman: Unbound" it's unfortunate they chose not to use Gary Frank's designs. I wonder what the thought process was there. So that's a minus. I'm indifferent to most of the voices but the one that sticks out to me is John Noble as Brainiac. I loved Noble on "Fringe" so it's not him, but they really needed to add a mechanical reverb to his voice. Without an effect like that he sounds like any other villain. Corey Burton's Brainiac was PERFECT and set an impossibly high bar, which as far as I can tell from the trailer has not been met here.
