Please, don't be a c**t by posting spoilers in the other thread. Please post in here. 'sides, it'll be interesting to read these rumours after we see the film and see what turned out to be true.

I'm of two minds about spoilers. Ordinarily, I'm a spoiler hound. Just give 'em to me. I read the Batman Begins screenplay six months before the film came out, and I didn't feel that it ruined anything for me.
But I went into Avengers and DKR spoiler-free. DKR was DEFINITELY enhanced by me not knowing a single thing about it. And there were definitely moments of Avengers that I enjoyed more just kinda experiencing it with the audience for the first time.
I'm trying to stay fairly spoiler-free for MoS, but that has more to do with the fact that the rumors have been anything but credible, and I don't feel like getting excited over what basically amounts to fan-fiction. That being said, if the MoS script leaked RIGHT NOW, I'd probably read it. I don't think I'd be able to control myself.

They're called "spoilers" for a reason!
I don't think I've ever spoiled a film for myself. What's the point?

I don't think I'd be able to control myself. i'm of two minds about it. on one hand- assuming its a really good movie- i don;t want any spoilers at all. i went into TDK and TDKR completely free and clear. but given the history of the superman franchise i can't help but be obsessively worried. as to the specific plot rumor/leak, i'm not ready to dismiss it yet. KRIS posted an article about the trailer description (the same day supermanhomepage posted the same source) that turned out to be EXACTLY correct. according to the recent leak, in the first draft of the script Zod killed pa kent. snyder's supervised rewrite removed (wisely i think) and added an additional battle/action sequence. i DO recall- a year or 18 months ago a rumor that zod kills pa kent creating a bit of controversy/anxiety. the two rumors have an overlap. if the current rumor is true, then the plot is going to be awesome. pllleeeennnnnty of super powered action.

That dude that leaked all the info at comicbookmovie.com says there's a huge twist at the end. If true, what could it possibly be?
Makes it sound like it's more than just a villain reveal. What do you think?
I hope it's not an Iron Man/Spider-man esque "reveal-my-secret-identity-to-the-world" type of thing.

Planet of the Apes Twist: Krypton is actually Earth in the distant future.
The Crying Game Twist: Lois Larry Lane.
The Usual Suspects Twist: Whole story is from Faora's POV, you think Michael Shannon is Zod but it's actually Faora the entire time.
Se7en Twist: Zod is captured by Superman, and he has Lois' head delivered to them. In a lead box.
The Sixth Sense Twist: Superman was dead throughout the movie.
Indiana Jones Twist: Perry was a Nazi double agent.

And that's where I'm going to draw a line when it comes to spoilers. That's a vital part of the story that I don't need to know.

What do you think? I hope it's not an Iron Man/Spider-man esque "I am Clark Kent" type of thing. Hey- if that does get leaked pm me and tell me to avoid this thread! Lol! From what that dude said they aren't trying to ape marvel- t hey're sowing seeds for sequels but aren't laoding up cameos. I actually like that its a stand alone film and not shoe horning lots of random geek for fucks sake. Just get superman right. Do that- and then we'll do the "shared" thing (which marvel did not even invent anyway)

I have mixed feelings about zod killing pa kent. It definitely would add a dark edge to the film right away...not necessarily a bad thing.
Also, it might take it yet another step away from the comics, but given how many changes are already made--- it might not matter.
I've already let go the idea of the movie needing to be a melding of all eras of Superman (which I felt Donner's STM was) and just want to enjoy it as an 'alternative' Superman adaptation, much like the Elseworld DC comics that used to come out. If it all hangs together well as a great film- which maybe it does, who knows?- I won't care if they bend the story more from the source material now.

I doubt it.
Anybody read All-Star Superman? Pa Kent dies while Clark/Superboy is doing other stuff, helping to save others. He doesn't get to Pa in time. Something similar happened in Geoff Johns/Gary Frank's Brainiac story (which is amazing).
THAT'S when Clark realizes his limitations. If anything, Pa Kent will die while Clark is stopping a tornado or something...or while he's fighting Zod. The idea of Zod snapping Pa's neck or something adds a needless dimension to the character.
No matter what, Superman can't save everyone. No matter what, the people he loves are MORTAL...and he has to wonder if he IS. That's it, right there.

For me it's about establishing character and motive and audience emotional investment .
For fantasy films like this to work the villain HAS to have at least some degree of charisma.
Look at avengers. When Loki attacks the shield base he kills DOZENS of agents. It doesn't matter. When he kills coulson -NOW we care! In a cartoon movie that's ok. In a grittier more nolanish film it takes a different tone. If zod kills Pa kent in realistic movie he loses audience support altogether. NO ONE will have a sense of sympathy that zod needs. The difference is a cartoony villain who is relishing the eeeeeee-VIL in an over the top way or a compelling character drama where an antagonist has sympathetic motivation. Zod needs to be like tommy lee jones in the fugitive-untill the end of course- where we sympathize with HIS angle as a plausible noble cause.

January 23, 2013: Another Superman Villain Revealed for "Man of Steel"Print Man of Steel Details emerging from London Toy Fair 2013 have revealed that another Kryptonian villain may be appearing in the "Man of Steel" movie alongside Zod and Faora.
In September 2012 we revealed the names of three Superman LEGO playsets set to be released around May/June 2013. The characters/figures set to be included in those playsets have now been revealed via the London Toy Fair 2013, which began yesterday inside the Olympia Exhibition Centre.
Click on the "S" icon to reveal the spoiler details:
The three playsets and the figures they'll include are:
76002 Superman - Metropolis Showdown : Superman and General Zod 76003 Superman - Battle of Smallville : General Zod, Colonel Hardy, Tor-An, Superman and Faora 76009 Superman - Black Zero Escape : Superman, Lois Lane and General Zod
The revelation of another Kryptonian character by the name of Tor-An has raised speculation about the character's inclusion in the movie itself. In the comic books Tor-An was a member of Krypton's Military Guild introduced during the 2009 "World of New Krypton" saga. Assigned to be a Kryptonian Sleeper Agent, Tor-An infiltrated Earth disguised as David Carter, the CEO of an Australian company called Empire Communications Network.
It is quite likely that this character will appear within the movie, however whether the character's role is similar to that seen in the comic books is as yet unknown. No images of the LEGO playsets have yet been revealed

The Tor-An rumor's been around for a long time now. The name showed up on a leaked call sheet, IIRC.

I'm not sure WHAT to expect from MOS at this stage. We already know it's going to stray SOME from the golden-silver age comics- most notably the lack of red shorts, the 's' curl, Perry White changing, Lois changing into a redhead..... but I am enjoying spoilers that show closer identification on ANY level to the comics--- especially after that fantastic thread highlighting just how much Donner's Supes went through great pains to match the Superman comics. I have an odd hunch that what we WON'T be seeing are villains carving their face into Rushmore, or destroying other iconic landmarks around the world. Could be wrong, but I got a feeling that super-aliens (or spaceships) blowing up landmarks around the world might be considered a cliche at this point.
