He's in Scott Pilgram so he seems to be having no trouble finding work. You've confused him with Tom Welling after Smallville.

Why not? its pretty simple. Whats he done besides Smallville in the last 4 years?
What you said about Routh makes zero sense. He's about to be in a new movie in the next month.

How can you compare anything to something that's not happened? Maybe I should say "steady work". Well let's wait and see what he'll be up to in a decade. I wouldn't at all be surprised if he ended up in one of those "What happened to..." articles If anything I reckon his future is in television

He's got two projects that are about to come out. They are shot and ready for release. He was in Kevin Smiths last flick. Do you think Scott Pilgrim doesn't exist or something? Its about to be released. How has that not happened yet to you? And yet you say we should "praise" Tom Welling who really hasn't done shit besides Smallville in the last 5 years. You've this double standard you have just so you can talk out of one side of your mouth about Routh on things you give Welling a pass over. Hypocrisy like a motherf***er. Makes no sense.

Here are some funny (and cute! ) pics of Brandon with Edgar Wright, Anna Kendrick and Michael Cera during a Scott Pilgrim press tour in San Francisco yesterday (they're promoting the movie heavily all over the country now). ;D

Nope. he's played the same nerdy goof in every movie I've ever seen him in for years. That last pic of Routh is great. A shame WB couldn't get their shit together to make the real thing happen.

As much as I would love to see Routh on the big screen again I cannot STAND Michael Cera.
I'll go see The Expendables instead.

I dunno, despite myself, I think Scott Pilgrim looks really, really, funny. I know I'll feel like a douche if I go see it, and I may regret it, but I don't know if I can stay away, either.
The Expendables is a given.

I may go see Scott Pilgrim since it looks amusing at least. And I've enjoyed every Edgar Wright film I've seen so far. Shaun of The Dead was pure awesome

I agree, some stuff about SPvsTW looks great and it will probably be an enjoyable movie. I just cannot stand the one note actor Michael Cera. Guy is talented at only playing the same character is every freaking movie I have seen him in. I'll watch it on tv, I really want anything he is in to flop so I don't have to see him play the same character in even more films!

Well, I agree that he doesn't have much range, but isn't that what a character actor does? Steve Buscemi is the same character in nearly every movie. Do you want him to fail, too? I mean, I get it if something about him in particular annoys you. To me, he seems pretty harmless.

Buscemi is REALLY good at what he does though. Really REALLY good at this point.
I like Cera in some stuff but I don't think he's always good enough to get past the fact that he usually does the same tired character...YET. He's only got time to get better as an actor though.
You are right though. DeNiro's been accused of doing the same thing in most of his films, its just that when he does it its entertaining as heck. When he was on point it was amazing to watch.

I want Cera to fail because I find the same character he plays constantly annoying, I don't want to see him gets roles that others could bring much more to the table to. I LOVE character actors! Some people are just so entertaining that being mostly themselves is amazing to watch. Christopher Walken is one of these guys. But Walken and Buscemi while they are character actors have shown to have much more range than Cera.

I read an interview awhile back, where a director was asked why a particular actor was constantly cast in the same mold over and over and OVER again- and why that seems to happen in Hollywood so often. His response was that, while actors may WANT to do something different- it's apparently not uncommon for an actor to be able to bring something to the rehearsal table- but totally become unable to replicate it once shooting begins. Before reading that, that thought never crossed my mind. Since then, I get why some actors are chosen to 'do that thing you do' over and over again. It's safe. It's proven. It's been done before, thus, less risk. There are multiple stories of directors not wanting to take chances on an established actor who 'wants to do something different this time'- Anyone remember Harrison Ford as the Russian military officer in K-19? Or the nutty father in Mosquito Coast? Or the wacky guy in "Six Days, Seven Nights"? Probably because the public wasn't interested in seeing Harrison indulge himself as an actor, versus play the heroic lead like the Indiana Jones series, Witness, Air Force One, etc.- If Cera does nothing new, most likely the director didn't want anything new. I get pissed at actors when they try to railroad a writer or a director, who has more at stake than they do (Ed Norton anyone?)..... haven't heard any complaints of Cera being a diva, though. (On the flip side, Shia LeBouf- who also hasn't had any complaints- and I'm sure is a nice guy, but.... on film, he also drives me NUTS. Why him for Indiana Jones' kid? NOOOO!!!!)

Yeah I think you're right. Hollywood likes to stick with what they know works. They are less willing to take risks now more than ever in some ways.
