I think Reeve made some bad choices in turning down pretty much ALL those roles. But is Brandon even being offered good roles? I'll buy or rent Reeve movies (if I can find them) because I do think he is a good actor, and his performances have always been interesting even if the movie is kinda "eh". I've only ever seen Routh in SR but his performance seemed suspiciously restrained in that movie. Seems like a lot of you guys have seen him in other things. Is he a good actor? I have a sneaky suspicion that he sucks. Nah, he was pretty good in Scott Pilgrim. He stole the scenes he was in. Though opposite Michael Cera, that's not hard to do.

Did he, though?
You sure you don't have blinders on?
I find Routh to be an extraordinarily bland actor, no matter what he's in. He looks like he's acting. That ain't good.

I saw one of his films at Big Lots called "Table For Three" going for $3.
But he has a really stupid look on his face on the cover, so I didn't bother.
Ha! Now that I think about it, if you look at the cover, it looks like he's watching his career go down the toilet! Poor bastard.
He needs Quentin Tarantino to give him a comeback.

Brandon Routh? More like Blandon Routh.
But fuck, he got to be Superman, so we're all the losers here, he's the winner. Good for him.

He got to be Superman, but I think he's probably the weakest, less convincing Superman.
Like I said, there's just something...I dunno...restrained? Artificial? about his performance in SR.
I still haven't seen the Kirk Alyn serials, but I think every one of the other Supermans have been better than Routh.
I haven't seen most of Smallville, but I liked Welling. Dean Cain's Superman was just ok, but his Clark was better than Routh's IMO.

Blinders? Nah, I'm no Routh fanboy. He gave a good performance in that. Lots of good over-the-top performances in that one, especially Chris Evans.

Dude!
I just checked out Dean Cain's IMDB page just to see if he's been in anything and the guy is cranking out movies!
I'm sure it's all (or mostly) shitty, DTV schlock, but the guy is keeping busy.
Good for him.

Yeah, he did a commentary for one of the Lois & Clark episodes, and he seemed like a pretty cool guy- the thing that impressed me the most was that he came to Hollywood also prepared to be a starting screenwriter if the actor thing hadn't turned out. The episodes he wrote weren't bad.
One thing I think that is cool, is that, outside of the first Superboy, most of the actors all chosen for the role of Superboy/Superman have seemed to be pretty cool people, not the kind of actors that you read end up being like the Charlie Sheens of the world.
As you said, good for the guy.

Luckily.
Yeah, Dean Cain always came off as a really cool, down to earth dude, just like Brandon.
Sure would be cool to see a picture of Brandon, Dean and Tom all standing together.

Enrique, I definitely agree about Routh being restrained in SR; it was the safe thing to do from WB and not necessarily him
I thought he was the weakest link in Pilgrim, as I've said in "Last movie you watched" thread
Although nothing personal against him, I think he comes across as genuine, but he does need to step his game up a bit.

I thought he was the weakest link in Pilgrim, as I've said in "Last movie you watched" thread Technically, the two Japanese guys were the weakest links as they couldn't speak any English, so they had to modify the movie accordingly.

I don't think Routh is the worst Superman... He wasn't great by any means, but by no means the worst either.
I found Cain's performance MUCH more wooden... That constant, arkward crossing of his arms, that laboured and stressed tone of voice that he always seemed to use... Sounded like he had a lump of coal lodged up his ass the whole time.
Now true, Routh has his moments where it is very apparent to us that he is, indeed, acting, but Welling... With Welling it's always apparent... The guy just never seems natural. His worst performance by far though, is *SPOILER* when he meets his future self (and that applies to both his "selves" here). His "Superman" performance was laughable. Also, I find his features way too feminine/pretty boy to be those of Superman, but that's something else entirely.
