While watching MOS I could help but feel like it borrowed ideas from a lot of past unfilmed Superman movies. Or at least took inspiration from ideas in those script like Superman Lives, Abrams story, etc. Felt the same way watching Superman Unbound. It was like watching a version of the unmade Superman III, Supergirl, Superman V/the new movie, and Superman Lives/Reborn.
heck I might actually rewatch Unbound soon in the context of a Superman V. The movie didn't knock my socks off but it was ok.

Ok after reading that I don't think the side-by-side comparison! Dumb question lol.
Very good article- I'm impressed with the candor. (No pun...)
Amazing how much the man of steel costume looks like some of the flyby designs. All things considered, ill take superman returns and man of steel over abrams trilogy.

Here's a new leaked image of Henry Cavill auditioning for Superman: Flyby I like the colors! Looks like molded muscles though, but not as bad as I would have thought. From the Henry Cavill fanpage on facebook.

Wow, he had the look back then too. It must have been a bad audition for Singer to choose Routh over him. (too harsh?) It works out though. Cavill seems more appropriate for a punching and yelling Superman movie, and not moping and stalking.

It's a great pic! Yeah I remember there being a Flyby thread or 2 here and searched for it. I really want to see more of this screen test! Val really needs to get that book going he wants to do about all the Superman projects that couldn't get off the ground. I'd buy it up quick..
Henry really does look like Superman there.. they should have done MOS instead of SR with Henry back then, imagine where the DC Movieverse would be now.

He'd only be 21 there. That's crazy. But he does look really good.
Hahah Jimbo.

A new image of the Flyby costume.... Well looking at the details, it's not exactly what Cavill is wearing, but pretty close..

As a still picture, the costume looks like it wouldn't work or look too much like armor....
But...
Considering how I initially hated MOS's early stills of the costume, then ended up liking the general look of it in the movie, I'd have to say it's tough to know how if it would or wouldn't have worked, if they shot the movie with this....

It's so funny to think there is a storage room somewhere with a bunch of Batman and Superman costumes from shelved projects.

I like the colors and the high tech alien look but it's just too hard and armored looking. It if was the same design on a less padded looking suit... Isn't that same suit in a model/maquette form owned by Jon Peters? I seem to remember it in a documentary.

One of Cages potential suits did and now this one too. I'm just waiting on the Justice League Mortal costume photos to leak. That batch is my holy grail. I definitely want to see Millers picks for the Batman and Superman costumes.

It does look very similar to the one next to Peters. I want to see all the costumes that were actually made and design sketches of everything. They are cool to look at even if they are terrible.

Hope they don't tweak Cavill's suit too much for the next one. I dread they will go back to this armored look.

Aha! Just remembered what it reminded me of: The Batman and Robin armor suits in the Shumacher films.... but, without nipples...

I was never one to rag too much on the SR costume, but it looks fantastic compared to that Burton-esque rubber shit Routh is wearing there.
