I always thought it was genius the way STM set up the sequel in the first few minutes of the film. Brilliant

I'm surprised by how little people are voting in the polls these days.

And therin lies one of the major problems with stamp, his zod isn't even consistently portrayed over the course of a single movie. Sent from my XT907 using ProBoards Why do you say this to me??? When you know I will kill you for it?! Stamp wins! Stamp always wins. Is there no actor on this planet to even challenge him?!?

Donner's Zod was perfect. The portrayal by Terence Stamp at the beginning of STM was and still is incredible. He brings more to STM than even Brando did. So did you vote Stamp or Shannon?

I like Shannon's performance but it feels like it's lacking something. I'm not sure what.
Stamp as Zod in the Donner scenes is pretty goddamn terrifying. I noticed that the last time I watched the first two. His eyes. My GOD, his eyes. Just...dead. Nothing there. Amazing. One of if not my favorite villain in anything, ever. So quotable, too. I literally can never stop myself when I'm around someone who says, "Oh, God..."

I like Shannon's performance but it feels like it's lacking something. I'm not sure what. I think when Shannon gets all worked up and p!ssed, it almost seems under the hood that you can sense HE KNOWS how over the top his intensity is... and somehow that is leaking through his body language, like he's itching to crack a smile as soon as the cut is over. I dunno. I also got that same impression when I watched him in Premium Rush because he plays a similar character who tries to be intimidating. Maybe it's just me. But he seems like a cool dude to sit next to at a bar.

He's not. He's a terrifying, weird, huge dude. But yeah, your assessment may be right about his performance.

Do people that voted for Shannon like him, or the fact that he caused more explosions than Stamp did (and also had a world engine)?

Stamp's dangerous "bored" look sells it for me. Like Kevin says, its all in the eyes. The whitehouse scene is his best scene IMO.

I thought it was insanely obvious that if you have a world engine, you automatically win.

There's a look that he gives Ursa after they trash the army in Houston that just spoke VOLUMES. There are subtleties in Stamps performance that I'm still noticing all these years later.

Who's to say that won't happen with Shannon, just Saying. It may or may not, but how many times have you seen MOS? You pick up absolutely everything in a week and a half?

Dude I wasn't even talking about Shannon. What was saying wasn't in comparison of the two. I was just commenting on Stamps performance on its own. Christ you're defensive.

Yeah. He doesn't say anything. I never really payed attention to the look he gives her but you can tell what he's thinking. It sells Zod's superior attitude so well.

Here's the thing: In initial images of Shannon, I got the idea that he was going to be mix of Zod and Non.... (And he sort of is physically)---
When thinking about mixing casts, I could see Stamp as Zod and Shannon as Non below him--- and it kind of works.
However, I couldn't see Shannon as Zod- and Stamp below him. Maybe there's something about the way Stamp (who does not have a large frame) just STANDS--- cool as a cucumber--- and on screen, you're automatically looking at him, worrying about what he's thinking.
(Aside: Even with Lester's attempt to turn him into a comedic version of Zod- Stamp's still enjoyable, even though Donner's Zod and Lester's Zod are two different performances (for the most part), I agree.)

Daniel Craig should have been Zod, with Shannon as Non.

Funny you bring this up because I also noticed it recently. What do you believe he is saying with that look? To me, it seems like he is sharing amusement by how pathetic the army is. But it is also a bit flirty. It's like he is checking to see if she is turned on by what he did.
