Ditto. I like George Reeves. More than any of the other guys that have played KalEl Clark Kent or Superman over the last 20 years.

When I was a kid, Reeves was the guy I would watch while on vacation or if the VCR broke. But Reeve was what I wanted to see. Reeves was kinda like the back-up. Greatest American Hero was kinda like that too. Now that I'm older, I love George Reeves and appreciate him way more.

George Reeves was also friends with Gene LeBell. That makes him even more awesome in my book.

Must admit I don't care much for Reeves, but maybe that's because I'm generally not a fan of the show.

In addition to the big honkin huge MOS display at walmart they also had a smaller one in electronics with old superman stuff on dvd- season box sets, cartoon samplers etc.
Practically giving it away. Bought george reeves season 1 for 10 bucks. Other than the lamer than heck pilot I enjoy it. Its more serious and violent than you'd expect.

I've taken serious advantage of the Superman DVDs. Next on my list is the Filmation Superman set.

Did you see the episode where they discover Superman's identity ad they showed Clark's smoking PI pal?

Did you see the episode where they discover Superman's identity ad they showed Clark's smoking PI pal? Was that The Stolen Costume? Pretty grim ending. I also disagree with the idea that Mole Men aka Unknown People or Superman on Earth are weak first episodes. Mole Men is pretty low budget but its VERY in keeping with some great sci fi fantasy films of the 50s with a strong message at its core. Pretty ballsy at the time for a kids show. Much like Star Trek years later they used the zany material to mask making some pretty serious social commentary. It was a show that also felt the pinch of the times thus adding "the American Way" to Superman's motto to cover any criticism that might pop up since Superman could be looked at as a subversive character by certain kooks in government and medicine at the time

"Mole men" is a little clunky, but better than the official "pilot" where superman rescues a dumbass hanging on to a hot air balloon rope.

As a kid I didn't have a great amount of access to Reeve's movies, but Reeves' series always seemed to be on in the mornings before I went to school. The low budget nature of it with the some-what mediocre "super-feats" actually made the character more real and easier to embody as a child dressed up. Loved them too!

It's just a condensed version of the origin. STM follows the basic outline of that episode with its first two thirds so clearly Superman on Earth got something right. I wouldnt be shocked if Donner or someone watched it before filming. And we also saw young Clark wondering why he was so different. Something done long before MOS. SOE captured the Flash Gordonesque Krypton of the early comics. Very cool looking if you ask me. A far cry from the Donner film and has elements of an ancient look with its great hall decades before MOS did too. I love George Reeves earnestness when he has to leave Ma Kent and she tells him he has a great destiny ahead of him.
