That's what really pisses me off because we have so many types of popcorn movies which show us destruction of buildings, spaceships coming to earth,I went to watch Independence Day purely to see this, and enjoyed it for what it is.now when I go and see a superman film above all else I want to see some cool flying sequences.surely going into a film like this its got to be the most important aspect of the film you want to make as believable as possible .but what we got 99% of the time was just a fast blur.

So anyway, is it just me or was anyone else expecting flying effects to have improved in 30+ years, not look worse? I'll tell you as soon as I see the flying effects. Where are they?

I agree with you. I liked the flying sometimes but there were too many far away shots and too much cutting. Needed more medium range shots. Its like they were trying to hide the GGIness of the flying Superman. When huge city wide destruction is commonplace in action films now a director damn well better know how to make it matter. When Independence Day did it that kind of spectacle wasn't regularly seen on film. Now you can see it anytime in a big movie. Snyder didn't know how to make all that destruction mean a damn thing. heck we barely got to SEE Metropolis in the film when all this crap went down. I didn't care. When LA was destroyed in the T2 dream sequence it shocked me. Cameron knew how to present that in emotional way. I cared more about the Enterprise exploding in Star Trek 3 and the crew wasn't even on it.

Nimoy could probably direct an awesome Superman movie. Too old now though.

Exactly. Why pay to see an effect you could see on Smallville for free?

Those would be dynamite if all Superman was required to do was hover 10 yards at a snails pace
