Favorite non-Reeve Superman of the last 20 years

Kruek was not only the worst thing about the show but the worst Lana Lang ever. It's not even a contest. She was so annoying and the character was such a dead weight to the show. Writing her out was one of the few times dropping a character improved Smallville. I still remember Lana with powers. Ugh.

Lana Lang from Smallville:
She was kept on way past her usefulness as obligatory love interest from the early seasons. No amount of retooling could save her in the public eye and some people marked her as the greatest reason the ratings were dropping. Nonetheless the writers seemed invested in her, inserting her into every storyline they could, if only so she could keep pulling in the teenage girl demographic, even if much of that demographic wanted to punch her in the throat. The writers' persistence could be chalked up to the fact that Lana is traditionally the girl in Clark's past... if Smallville hadn't made far bigger breaks with tradition, particularly by introducing Lois Lane.
What arguably made it even more annoying for fans was that the show constantly had other characters rave about how awesome Lana supposedly was. There were plenty of times when Lana did wrong to Chloe, only for us to see Chloe blindly praise Lana later in the same episode, and times she toyed with Clark's emotions only for him to willingly continue to be her doormat. Even Tess Mercer, a tough-as-nails corporate executive and occasional Dark Action Girl who is usually the Snark Knight, practically declared her undying love and hero-worship of Lana in Season 8. She even came back for three episodes in Season 8 with faux-Navy SEAL training and superpowers.

I don't know what the heck was wrong with Gough and Millar. It's like they did all that crap with Lana and rammed her down fans throats to spite them. The more fans hated her the more the producers seemed to thumb their noses at them.

I checked out before all that happened. I missed a bunch of seasons, there, I never saw anything goofy happen with Lana. I'd read about it, hear about it, my God, it sounded awful.

I've seen that before. I see mostly Routh then Cavill. A little bit of Welling and Reeve. Hard to see much of Cain at all

Have you guys seen the Bruce Wayne composite? West, Keaton, Kilmer, Clooney, and Bale.

That Bruce Wayne one is quite creepy. It genuinely looks like an actual person. Funny how Wayne looks more manly than Superman.

That's probably down mostly to Keaton's features and to a lesser extent Bale and Clooney. Bales face is pretty angular. Keaton's face has a lot a lot of character. Clooneys handsome but in a kind of rugged way sometimes. Wests had the leading man looks almost as much as Clooney but probably softer? They both have/had the squarest jaws. Kilmer's the one out of the five with the most "pretty boy" look.


All of the Superman actors used are also younger and have more of the matinee idol looks .


I think the Bond composite looks most like George Lazenby but you can also see a lot of Borsnan and Moore. That makes sense when I think about it.

Huh, a bunch of characters without unique facial characteristics can be easily blended so well? You don't say!

For all of MOS' disappointments and absurdity, Cavill is still the best non-Reeve Superman we have seen. And it's not even close. Even though the script didn't give him much to work with, he has a screen presence that rose above the material. Routh just looked like a twink in a scuba suit.

Is it just my imagination, or did Lee Majors (in his younger days) look like a cross between Roger Moore and George Lazenby?
