I paused for a while, but I'll post some stuff on Youtube soon.
Thanks to watching some recent movies, I found a great quality red-style Warner opening logo, so I'll be able to add that instead of that new one.
I'll post the opening credits and new nightmare sequence soon.

The Adventure Continues (the cutting, not the movie itself, unfortunately)
Thankfully, since the source material is plain old Stereo, I can rip the audio onto mp3 and edit with Audacity. That way, I can tweak the audio without having to worry about messing up the surrounds. It also makes adding the soundtrack easier. I've done it already with the pre-credit sequence, and I think it'll work nicely elsewhere.
So, where does it stand....
I'll be honest, I didn't touch this for a few months, and that was after I deleted everything. What I've recreated is better than what I had before, which was posted on YouTube.
The movie begins with the old red Warner Bros. logo. (Last seen in the Superman III trailer). We then cut to the Russian Cosmonauts, and the Superman rescue. Nothing really new there. The music in the movie is sufficient, so it doesn't need any tweaking.
Next, the opening credits with the soundtrack cue added in. It certainly makes a big difference. The visuals of the credits may be crap, but the music does not disappoint.
Next is Smallville. Since the music is longer than the available scenes of the movie, I need to pad the scene. This means adding in some footage to make the start of the scene longer. I'll be doing this by adding establishing shots from STM, as well as a still image from Clark visiting the graveyard.
My goal is to the soundtrack first, and the movie second. In other words, the music is locked in, and the movie will fit around it. I'm doing this because I'm also including an isolated music track, and I don't want to have to cut up the music.
Tonight, I work on the nightmare sequence, using Brando from STM. That will thankfully replace a bit of some terrible quality deleted footage.

Hi Jimbo, If you are looking for a really good version of the black/red WB logo look no further then 'Enter the Dragon'. It has the correct aspect ratio.

Right, I'm not using it from the Superman III trailer. I just said that for reference. I'm using it from Magnum Force, in glorious 2.35:1.

I suppose I could use the Cannon logo, but it would just add to the cheese. ;D I like the red Warner logo because that Superman fanfare at the beginning nicely syncs with it.

I'm now up to the first Nuclear Man 1 scene. That will be a huge headache because I have to silence as much of that stupid temp music as possible while keeping the dialogue and SFX in there.
Yesterday, I pieced together the scene where Superman meets Jeremy at his school to answer his letter. Unfortunately, there's about 10 seconds missing from the end of that scene. It's where the teacher thanks Superman for coming, Jeremy says "Well, I don't understand," and Superman says "Sorry". That's how it was in the script, anyway, and there is extra score that seems to fit that spot. For now, the movie goes black for ten seconds, while the remainder of that cue plays out. I think I'll fill the gap by typing out the script for the missing piece of dialogue.
I figure if some workprints can incorporate storyboards and initial animatics, then I can include a piece of script.

Hurry up already. I am actually dying from anticipation. Superman IV is clearly the bestest Superman movie AND YOU ALL KNOW IT - Superman III is second bestest. The others don't even come close. ;D

after " superman redeemed " i thought i would never watch sup4 again...... Superman Redeemed is one of the BEST fan edits, period. ADM put a lot of thought into it and pulled things off brilliantly. The only thing holding it back is the opening title sequence, but maybe someone out there could help out ADM and supply him with one more in the style of STM and SII. (My only other irk with it is Lex's prison escape. I understand the desire to put in Otis and Miss T, but it creates too many continuity errors. As lame as SIV's might be, I think an edited version of it would be more appropriate. But, that's the editor's prerogative so whatever works for you ADM! ;D) Oh, and I'm looking forward to your SIV too Jimbo. Keep up the good work.

I've hit a brick wall here. I'm at the Nuclear Man 1 birth. That F-ing temp music.
Does anyone know of any audio software where I could scrub out noises like that?

Leave the temp music in!!!! The true goal here should be to make the film even more of a farce. Im serious here. I'd love to see a cut that actually make the film even worse. Use the temp music throughout, replace processed FX shots with unprocessed FX shots from the deleted scenes.
Do anything you can to make this film the uber, uber embarrassment it deserves to be.

I Love Superman Redeemed as well. I'm pretty sure it's the first fan edit I downloaded (and believe me there's a lot). Since I didn't watch them at all as I got older, it actually brings back feelings of nostalgia seeing parts of S3 and S4 since I used to watch them as a kid just as much as the first two.
My only problem isn't the opening credits, but the ending. Yes it's great using all the endings and tying up loose ends, but I would've re-arranged the order. Instead of showing S3's endings then S4's in order, I would've had Supes get Lex back in prison first, then give Lana her ring, then show the next day at the office, and then show the speech ending.
Anyhoo, I'm looking forward to this as well. I've seen just about every other Superman fan edit, including one someone did on youtube where it's only the isolated score.

I thought it was taken seriously the first time round? ;D ;D it was taken ( marginally ) seriously by chris reeve and the writer- but it was a slippery slope and a precipitous fall after that....
