Even as one of the "Smallville" faithful, I sincerely hope this season is it's last. While the series is as good as it's been in a while, it's obvious the story has been stretched to its limits. If they play their cards right this season can make a smooth transition to Superman after all, but if the series keeps on going it'll just get ridiculous.
As Oliver told Clark this week, "Maybe you're island is still out there." I interpret their intentions this season as making Doomsday that island, the turning point in Clark's life where he embraces his destiny and becomes Superman. It works in a cyclical way; in the comics Doomsday was both the end of Superman and a new beginning. In this new twist in the mythology Doomsday can usher in Clark's final transition to Superman, a new beginning for him in it's own right.
A ninth season would undermine all this, not to mention they can't leave Lex Luthor MIA forever.

the erica durance image from the first page is not altered and she is showing her underwear which seems unintentional but the same image has been photoshopped to remove this from other sites and promotional material

Tonight's episode was great! Getting back to the mythology and pushing the story arc forward. Clark establishing himself as an undercover "Good Samaritan"! Sewing the seeds of what's to come with Doomsday!! Detective John Jones!!!
Clark's super-saves were well done, and his leap up to the Ace of Clubs was AWESOME! The trail he's leaving behind as an undercover hero sets up next week's episode nicely. Interesting that Davis is onto him as well.
As for Davis, this week really fleshed out his character and I like what they're doing with him so far. The tension between him and Chloe is awkward of course, but makes for some good drama. Nice to see Chloe getting all the attention this season after years of playing second fiddle to Lana. As for Davis/Doomsday I didn't see the twist with the copycat killer at the end coming. Nice way to get everyone off his trail...for now at least.
And did I mention DETECTIVE JOHN JONES!!! Brilliant way to reincorporate Martian Manhunter. Morris getting more than his standard 1 1/2 scenes an episode didn't hurt either. Too bad he couldn't have been a regular; here's hoping he's back for A LOT more.
Could next week see the beginning of the glasses for Clark? If not next week...then when?

This season has been freaking awesome! Who would of thunk getting rid of Rosenbaum and Kreuk would have this effect on the show!
I like where this season is heading, FINALLY Welling's acting is consistent throughout. You see Superman, without the suite of course.
The Chloe/Davis relationship is some what interesting. Methinks it has a lot to do with Brainiac. We'll see where it goes. And it's great to see some Chloe time! ;D
Morris, like Hartley, brings a new dimension to the show. But with Morris, you have that experience that is needed for a show like this, especially now that Glover isn't on the cast.
I have been blown away with this season! From what I hear the Doomsday thing will work out nicely, and that's coming from Geoff Johns! So you know it's going to be freaking awesome!
My friends, if you've been put off by Smallville in the past and you're thinking about giving the show another shot, now's your chance!

I'll be catching season 7 soon. Does CW have old episodes streaming online? I wouldn't mind getting caught up on season 8 episodes if they did.

He fills the "adult" role nicely. Again, it would have been nice to have him as a regular this season, but if it came down to Hartley and Morris I'm glad they picked Hartley. Seeing as Green Arrow on this show is basically a Batman substitute, it's almost like having the World's Finest together. I agree this season has been great so far, but my one main complaint this the handling of the Clark/Lois relationship. I'm admittedly biased being a Chloe/Chlark/Chlois fan, but it still doesn't sit right with me that Chloe's character has been dismantled and given to Lois. That and the constant anvils about Clark & Lois' future together. WE GET IT. And talk about messing up continuity, Lois loves Clark ALREADY? He doesn't even wear glasses yet and Superman's nowhere in sight. This just goes to show that Chloe=Lois could have worked perfectly fine and they're covering the same ground with Lois they did with Chloe seasons ago.

True, but on the other hand, the chemistry between Durance and Welling is finally starting to work out. It was a bit forced at first, but it's getting better. Oh, and Kirok, you should know better; continuity and Smallville don't mix.

Welling and Durance is growing on me, and it's certainly better than the Clark & Lana BS that got dragged out for SEVEN YEARS. I'm NOT looking forward to Kreuk's return later this season (5 or 6 episodes I believe).
It's nice to still have an occasional Lois-free episode since Erica Durance is only signed for 13 episodes each season (which is weird now with her getting 3rd billing in the cast). That way we can get exciting episodes like last night's without having to be subjected to the "THESE TWO ARE IN LOVE AND DON'T EVEN KNOW IT" routine.

If you want to catch episodes of your favorite show without even paying for them, I think this is the best website for this. It has tv shows and even movies. It's great! When you get in the site, click "Cancel" at the bottom and then click "ok" when the window open and you'll be directed to the main site. www.watchtvsitcoms.com

I agree!! This season has started off really really good! I'm impressed!
I'm actually glad that Lana is gone... after like season 5 she should have left.
Chloe is getting better in this season. Welling is showing alot more that he could do Superman. I'd like to see him become Superman like 3 episodes from the last, where he makes his first appearance and in the last episode he confront's Lex kinda like the end of the first episode of Lois and Clark... and tells him that he's gonna go to jail as soon as he slips up.
Something like that!
But I'm excited to see how the Doomsday thing is going to play out.
Anyone know if Kara is supposed to show up at all this season?
I actually liked Kara.

She may do another, more than likely during May sweeps.
As for your question about Lana's return, the answer is yes. Just get rid of her already!
