That is the best figure ever made IMO. Would love to have one.

That's horrible. I can imagine your frustration- I've been rejected at portfolio reviews, and I know how bad that can feel--- but I imagine it'd be even worse to go all that way and not even be given a chance to be seen!
Hopefully you were able to enjoy parts of the San Diego con anyways. (I used to go for years, but now it's wayyyy too packed to be any fun). Hopefully Hot Toys will do a good Reeve figure and be able to pick one up from them, instead....

Yes, its seems the prototype (like most) was incomplete. You can't call it a Reeve and not have something as fundamental as the cape shield (even if it is outlined in red). The more shots I see of this statue the more I warm to it but by todays standards it looks quaint. Had it come out in the early nineties it would have been the centrepiece of my collection!! I've gone from 'absolutely not' to 'maybe'. Just to see Reeve's name on the boxart alone will appeal to my fanboyism....

Judging by how the cape seems to sit on different positions of the shoulders in pics, I'd say it is detachable.

The original pics I didn't think were tooo bad.... but in looking at these, it REALLY looks disappointing. Not bad for $40, but $150+*? Forget it. *sigh* (*ebay has/had some for $150)

I think it would have looked better if they had used a real fabric cape for the statue. It would look more natural and wouldn't look so bulky over the shoulders.
Maybe if sales are down from it, and DC gets all the negativity about this statue (that should have been great) then maybe they'll put out a better quality product next time.

Unfortunately, the way things ought to work and the way the way they actually end up working are two different things. If this statue doesn't sell well, I don't see DC spending any more resources in hopes they get it right a second time.

Judging by how the cape seems to sit on different positions of the shoulders in pics, I'd say it is detachable. It's porcelain right? If it were plastic I'd understand the detachable cape approach, but I didn't think it was. If you look closely it seems as though they didn't take the blue paint up to the neck line as it's marked. That might explain why there's a gap between jump suit and the cape - sloppy. At least they've put the yellow S on the cape. Not sure if thats pictured anywhere on this post, CapedWonder has a shot with it visible.

DC Direct has bumped back the release date of the Reeve statue from May 27th to June 17th now. Man, I hate it when DC makes these last minute date changes!

Hopefully they've destroyed the darned things & started from scratch with a new mold that actually resembles him. Dont buy this folks, its crap & DC needs to know it. Wait a few months. I PROMISE you Hot Toys will be doing a Reeve figure.

Mav, I wish I could be a certain as you. The campaign on Sideshow's board was full of support but seemingly fell on deaf ears... I hope you know something I don't...!

I saw you over there btw I've lurked for a while now. Its frustrating to browse there though. The place has too many threads on a single topic. It gives me a seizure ;D ;D ;D Heres what the topics look like over there: THE OFFICIAL HOT TOYS JOKER THREAD!
THE HOT TOYS JOKER's HAIR THREAD
THE HOT TOYS JOKERS VEST THREAD!
JOKERS SHOES! ANY THOUGHTS?
JOKER TOY FOR PRESIDENT?
SEX WITH YOUR JOKER TOY! TIPS?
THE OFFICIAL OFFICIAL THREAD ABOUT THE OFFICIAL HOT TOYS OFFICIAL JOKER FIGURE!
COP JOKER PICS!
BANK ROBBER JOKER PICS!
JOKER MMS DX SERIES!
NURSE JOKER CUSTOMS!
POEMS ABOUT NURSE JOKER CUSTOMS!But, anyway yeah, if you can actually find it, the place has good info. They need to give me a week at that place to clean it up. Though it would be harder than Gordon trying to clean up the Narrows in Gotham ;D Btw Martin, your collection is AWESOME!

If DC Direct was able to acquire the rights to Reeve's license, then I suppose there is no reason why Hot Toys wouldn't be able to do the same. Unless DC was able to gain exclusive rights, which would have been stupid on the part of Reeve's family to allow. Still, more than likely, Hot Toys is waiting until DC Direct's statue has had a chance to sell before announcing their own. Everyone knows that if both were offered simultaneously, the Hot Toys version would be the clear cut fan favorite.

The first promo photo by DC didn't look that bad to me, but all subsequent ones of the real thing are horrible.
I wonder if the buzz is so bad on this that they're hoping that pre-orders go up first. Hopefully Mav is right about Hot Toys getting this later on.

Wait a few months. I PROMISE you Hot Toys will be doing a Reeve figure. I want to believe this. Do you think Hot Toys would view poor sales of the DC Direct product negatively? My concern is that poor sales may result in them going cold on the idea. On a side note, if Hot Toys do a Reeve figure - what film will his look be based on? We all generally agree Chris looked the best in Supes III, despite the movie sucking. I hope they'd avoid basing it on a skinnier Reeve (like his scenes with Brando and Hackman...)

Respectfully disagree. The poor hair dye job still astounds me in Supes 3 - especially given how many millions went into the project---
And, my own op, is that I actually prefer skinnier Reeve/Supes.
But... here's hoping Hot Toys does a COUPLE of versions (if they could do more than one version of the Joker, why not?).... but with the DC Direct disaster in the making- who knows how it'll all play out... ;o

Hahaha Yeah, S3 hair very bad. His age and build was right - S1 hair was the best

SIV= worst hair. SIII= best physique. S1= Best hair. The photo that showed the best most natural looking hairstyle is this one; Too many of the promo shots had hair and "S" curl that was just a little too permed and stylized.

DC direct now has a 360 degree view of the Reeve statue--- which actually looks better than the photos--- but then again, it's a lot smaller, so you can't necessarily see the details on the face for this newest image. Adding to the disappointment, though.... the 360 view shows NO 's' on the back. Grrr.... www.dccomics.com/dcdirect/?dcd=10805&lst=new&cat=STATUES

They put that 3D view up late last year after announcing it, that was what exposed the lack of S on the cape.
I can't believe there's not one photo out there of this thing which shows the cape S they've now added. Only that fan snap which just shows a glimpse of it.
