So for those interested, the season finale of Chuck is next Monday. It's gonna be a two hour finale, btw. Also, I thought Brandon's participation in the show was done a few weeks ago, BUT his character just showed up in last week's episode strongly hinting that he's back for the final episodes. I really think he's back, his character is just too important in the story. Oh and the show was renewed for a 4th season, starting in the fall.

Love this show. Only just started watching it. It's probably one of the few things worth watching on TV for me at the moment.

What season are you currently watching? Also, for those interested, season 3 debuts on Monday, May 31 at 9PM on Virgin 1 in the UK. Brandon appears in about 11 episodes in this season, btw. So, the season 3 finale absolutely ROCKED. And Brandon was better than ever! I'm so proud of his work.

He is in some of the very best episodes not only of the season, but of the whole series. That said, I liked his character and his arc. He plays a very cold, shady and by the book spy. He's probably the most straight character of the whole season, so don't expect him to smile much. You also need to know that the third season is darker and more dramatic than the previous ones, and I was fine with that since I prefer the drama side of the show. There was still plenty of comedy for my tastes, but for some of the fans who prefer the comedy, well, they didn't seem to have enjoyed it as much. Any way, hope you like it. I think season 3 was very good overall, not perfect but still high quality Chuck. Some really great episodes in this season, plus the finale was truly AWESOME. I'm not exagerating. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on it.

This is a really cool scene from the season 3 finale, but with different music. Awesome. This show is like that; they do a lot of pop culture references. There are lots of cool ones in the finale.

At 11:30, I watch NBC news. I like the anchors of the local affiliate. They're just a franchisee, and it's not their fault their franchiser sucks ass. But as soon as 11:35 hits, I switch to CBS as fast as humanly possible. >_<

Yes, but my local NBC affiliate had Conan on at 2:30 for years. Payback is a bitch! I like watching my local Fox affiliate.

Finally picked up and SAILED through season 3- (always a good sign that I'm enjoying a tv series, is if I can zip through a dvd set w/ no problem).
The 3rd season I actually had some problems with in the beginning (I liked the progression of the whole cast of characters in season 1 & 2- losing Anna Wu as the Buy More employee/nerd girl counterpart changed the dynamics of Buy More being a parallel universe to Chuck's spy world more drastically than I would have thought)...
But, enjoyed it more as the season went along, once I realized the show had evolved into being more Chuck and less of the Buy More cast and was ok letting it go. (Was disappointed that they didn't choose to just move into a different retail outlet this season: I felt they used up most of the Buy More jokes in seasons 1 & 2)
Brandon's first episode performance-wise felt a little shaky, but right after that, he really came into his own....plus- have to say- DAMN, that guy has such screen presence, though, that whenever he's on the screen, he steals the limelight. The camera definitely likes that guy.
What I liked is that what they wrote really was a good role- and a fitting one, not just a gimmick. (the couple of Superman jokes put in were quiet but fun--- I wouldn't have minded more).
Not crazy about the ending- as I feel like it's moving more and more away from its 'roots' so to speak (which celebrated the 'everyman' I thought) and changing Chuck a little too much, but the show is definitely still entertaining, even if I feel like some of the substance is getting lost in the mix.
Anyhow- good choice for Brandon. But, he needs be Superman. It's a good mutual fit imo for what qualities he seems to carry with him. I don't know if Brandon is an actor in the same league as Reeve, but he's got presence and qualities that make for a good movie guy on his own.
Besides.... I DEFINITELY think he's a better than Keanu and Arnold- and look at THEIR success! ;0

Glad to hear! It was clear from the first episode that season 3 would be darker. I think a lot of people had a little (some a lot) trouble adjusting to the new 'changes.' I liked it just fine. I think that the show can be too silly sometimes for my tastes so I welcomed the darker tone. I was fine with less Buy More stuff even though I like what happens there with Jeffster and Big Mike. I also really liked how they integrated them into the spy story for the most part. Some really funny Buy More humor this season, imo. Not much but what was there was good more often than not. Funny, I really loved his performance in his first ep. I think his introduction is the best one yet of a new character in the show. Yep, and I think some of the fandom didn't really like that... man, some of those hardcore fans don't like him AT ALL. They really take the show too seriously, imo. They absolutely HATED his relationship with Sarah.. those crazy shippers! ;D I liked his arc overall, it was interesting, but honestly, I didn't like some of the writing (and dialogue) for his character. And yeah, the role totally fit him. The way his character progressed and developed was well done. Really? Well one thing I love about this show is the character development. The character DO change. I like Chuck as a spy, it runs in the family. I think the changes made sense personally. And the changes didn't only happen to Chuck but also to other characters like Morgan, Casey and Sarah. Morgan's arc was especially great. He's just so funny. I also don't agree that the substance is getting lost. On the contrary, I think this season had plenty of emotional depth and strong character development. It wasn't always done very well, but liked most of what they did. Man, that season finale was amazing, imo. It felt like Chuck The Movie. I think Brandon's performance was really strong in it. He's definitely more than just a boyscout. I agree, he fits the Superman role perfectly. You should see "Scott Pilgrim vs the World" when you have a chance, CAM. Amazing film and VERY unique. Brandon's in it and he's brilliant. He also steals the show for a while, imo. He plays a villain, and he manages to be really evil, badass AND hilarious at the same time. I just don't see Keanu ever doing that. Brandon has shown me that he's a diverse actor. I can't wait to see what else he can do. Hope he gets the chance.

Well, it's a testament to their love of the characters. Personally, I thought it made things more interesting. In fact, if anything, I thought that they could have gone even deeper about the things that Sarah might NOT like about Chuck the regular dude--- but in the end, it's a comic fantasy. I don't mind darker. I just thought that the structure of the show was really more 50/50 in the first two seasons on making some funny (and real) social observations between the retail world (that a number of people do get stuck in or have to settle for now as they get older and the economy is questionable) and the fantastic money-free James Bondian world that Chuck was privvy to. The show is different as it's far more into the spy world (and making it less of a joke and the Buy More has little point now other than to be a convenient plot handle. Before, it represented a lot more, particulary about people with broken dreams, especially with the semi-serious (and sad) story of Jeffster in the first season. If the budget hadn't been cut, (I'd read that's why Anna's character was dumped), I think & would have preferred that the double ensembles had still had weight in their stories. But, anyways, while it's a different show now, it's still must-see tv. I liked the stuff with Casey....though I wish it went deeper and his re-instatement to agent wasn't so quick. The idea of Chuck's whole family being spies.......uhhhh...... this kind of continues to obliterate the idea/ fairy tale aspect of Chuck as 'the average schmoe in the wrong place at the wrong time'. I know that the storyline with the dad was plausible enough and made sense, but his mom's a spy, too??? Again- I'm not in love with the direction it's generally headed in, but the shows in and of themselves are entertaining. I just wish that if they chose to evolve, they would have kept more of the idea of Chuck as any every guy more intact along the way.... Saw it, but I saw it after the GIANT hype machine. Entertaining and different, but it almost felt like it ran by TOO fast. And Routh's part should have been expanded.

Sure, but sometimes their love seems so extreme and downright creepy, imo. They forget that these characters aren't actually real. I agree. Well yes, it sort of is a different show now. It evolved into something else. Though I'm hearing that this season will have a bit more comedy since some fans complained it got a bit too dark in season 3. Personally, I'm fine with the show as is now; IMO, with the intersect in his head, Chuck had only two choices: To quit completely and try to remove the intersect from his head, or to embrace the whole thing and use his abilities for good. The story had to progress, otherwise it'd just be going in circles and that gets tired too. BTW, season 4 started yesterday. It was solid, I think. But I'm sure you won't be so happy about somethings. Maybe. ;D Yeah, the budget cuts affected the show a bit. They had to do some changes. Not all the characters were present in all the shows (the minor ones, that is). Totally. It was due to the previous shorter order of just 13 episodes. They had to rush some storylines a bit, like Shaw/Sarah and Casey's for instance. They were deep filming into the season when NBC ordered 6 more eps, so it was too late to change some things. yeah, I'm sure not everybody liked it, but that's the way it is now. I didn't feel it was too fast. But yes, they had to compress a lot of story from 6 books into a 2 hour movie. I think Edgar Wright did a great job. The film is so full of stuff, and a lot of things happen quickly, so I'm sure not everybody would like that. It's a film that needs to be seen several times in order to appreciate it fully, IMO.

Really nice Daniel Shaw video (the character Brandon played in season 3 of Chuck). I think the song really fits the character,

I think you were right, CAM. Chuck's season 4 is pretty weak so far. Looks like the showrunners don't have any more tricks under their sleeves. Sadly. Remember how annoying the will-they won't-they was getting in past seasons? Well, now that Chuck and Sarah are FINALLY together it is ALL about their relationship and their constant misunderstandings, Sarah in her underwear, Chuck the whiny and insecure and the latest stunt casting. The drama just feels so forced. It really is sucking the life and joy out of the show for me. I know A LOT of Chuck fans are big Chuck/Sarah shippers, but some of us aren't, so this turn of events is a poor choice. I wish there was more balance with the comedy, the mythology and the action. The spy story is pretty weak, predictable and just poorly told so far, IMO. I just haven't really been excited by any of the new episodes as I used to be. I think the show should just end before it gets worse. Can you recommend another good/fun show to watch?

For sure, the '13 episode to 20 episode' bump at the last minute sucked out some of the best remaining ideas that the showrunners had.
The showrunners themselves said that the original end of the season was the "Honeymooners" episode- but that would have been a good series end. And- agreed.....stretching out Casey's 'demotion to Buy More employee' would have been a gold mine for awhile...
Still even the followup episodes to wrap up season 3 were actually pretty good- but they were pretty heavy and tight- not the usual lighter fare, with the deaths.
As far as the reconstruction of Buy More as actually the CIA headquarters---- that took the credibility of the show a bit too far. There was a layer before that had Morgan/Jeffster/etc. as 'real' people (a thin layer, but consistent)--- but in this season, everyone is a cardboard cutout.
I hate saying that I want the show to end now, but hopefully they end it WELL, rather than stretch it into a bad show.
For those who aren't watching, Seasons #1-2 are the best imo, but #3 is actually really good, but a different show.

No doubt, and a side of effect of the show always being on the bubble. They could have fleshed out the story more during the first arc of last season. We really needed to see more backstory for Shaw and his wife and why he loved her so. Casey and his story also needed more development. The Shaw and Sarah pairing was also neglected a bit, I mean, they told us they were getting serious as a couple but we saw very little of it, it was a little weird. They actually did a better job showing Chuck and Morgan's progression, I think. yes Oh most of those were very intense and mythology heavy. I loved them except the Honeymooners and the Role Models one because they were heavy on the C/S relationship and felt like filler. Agreed. I also read on another forum that WB wanted the Buy More back because it's a great opportunity for product placement. It's all about the $$$ you know. I think the showrunners really thought the Buy More concept was not necessary anymore for the story they were telling, but WB had the last word I guess. I also think the heavy pandering to the C/S shippers is hurting the show. The drama feels so forced and unnatural, imo, it's annoying. I actually think the showrunners want to compensate those fans for all the angst that happened during the first 3 seasons, especially the last one with Shaw and Sarah.. lol, but I think they are really doing it the wrong way. So are you watching this new season live? How do you know what's going on in with the new season? Just curious. Well, the ratings aren't very good but they aren't terrible either for NBC standards. Plus NBC hasn't really promoted the show this year. I think they know the show has an stablish fanbase that just won't grow much if any, at least not where it is. For me: Seasons 2 and 3 > season 1 I really like season 1 but it isn't as compelling or exciting. Plus the mythology isn't as interesting either. It was until the second half of season 2 with the appearance of the Orion character that the show really got awesome and engaging, imo.
