Soo glad to hear that the show rocks, CAM! Never seen it but will now, of course! lol Here is another article with more info, 'Chuck': Brandon Routh's role is top-secret
By Rick Porter | August 27, 2009 5:03 PM
Two-plus seasons of writing a show about spies has rubbed off on "Chuck" co-creator Chris Fedak. He's very good at keeping secrets.
For instance, it was next to impossible to get Fedak to give up details about what "Superman Returns" star Brandon Routh will be doing in his guest role on "Chuck" this season. We know he's playing a character named Daniel Shaw in multiple episodes, beginning with the season's fourth show, and that he'll be part of Chuck's (Zachary Levi) spy world, but other than that? Not much -- not even the exact number of episodes Routh will do.
"You won't get it out of me," Fedak says.
Fedak did say, though, that Shaw will be a key to this season's spy arc. "This year the evil organization Chuck and our gang are battling is called The Ring," he says, "and Shaw is an expert on The Ring."
And how might his presence affect the dynamic between Chuck, Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski) and Casey (Adam Baldwin)? "If it's OK with you, I want to kind of stay a little murky," Fedak says. "I'm a little hesitant to say much more about the Shaw character. We've got some really cool surprises, and I don't want to show my hand too much."
Fedak was more willing to talk about why he's happy to have Routh on "Chuck," and it's not just because the actor played Superman. (Although Fedak admits that "I was a little bit giddy when I finally met him.")
"What's exciting about it is that Brandon not only offers a great kind of leading-man, hero type of character, but he's also super funny," Fedak says. "It's really important to the 'Chuck' show that he has comic chops."
"Chuck" is filming its second episode now, Fedak says, so Routh should be starting work on the show in the next couple of weeks. The show is scheduled to return to NBC in March. blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2009/08/chuck-brandon-rouths-role-is-top-secret.html#commentsI think maybe the producers of Chuck liked Brandon's performance in "Stuntmen". It's a mockumentary he did with Zachari Levi (Chuck). Here are four very funny videos promoting the movie. Brandon is in them. www.funnyordie.com/stuntmenmovieThe movie is available to netflix or to order at places like amazon.com or Best Buy. Here are 2 reviews on it, 4outof10.com/stuntmen-review-brandon-routh-at-his-best/thinkmcflythink.squarespace.com/movie-reviews/2009/8/27/amusing-stuntmen-is-worth-your-time.htmlI still haven't seen it. .

It almost was, due to high costs, but apparently they slashed the budget (and supporting cast) to make it work.....but odd that they did have enough money to hire Superman....but given the long wait for a Superman movie, great to see Routh in a great tv show.

Definitely have to see it from the beginning- (or at least see the pilot)--- it's a premise that could have easily been done wrong, (or too but I think that it's a show that anyone who's ever had a job in the retail industry (or have been stuck in retail) can relate to. But it's definitely best seen in chronological order (and the series is relatively cheap at $20 a season now and then at Target) Curious as heck how they're going to utilize Routh's talents, so far, their casting has been pretty good....

she'll probably have Chuck sitting around (the whole season) trying to decide between his feelings for her and his duty as a spy... really bad news, imo.

There's something very familiar about the plot. I just can't put my finger on it...

Speaking of Smallville, have you read about the plot description of the upcoming Megan Fox vehicle, Jennifer's Body? Jennifer ends up as the sacrifice in a Satanic ritual, held by a rock band, hoping that the sacrifice will increase their chances of getting a record deal. The ritual goes horribly wrong and Jennifer becomes possessed by a demon and begins to feed off of the boys in her high school—first seducing them to get close, and then consuming them in a manner not unlike that of a Succubus. It becomes her best friend's goal to stop Jennifer from killing more of her classmates. Wasn't that several episodes of Smallville? ;D (without the Satanism, of course)

Well, this great news about Brandon has been shattered by this! www.kryptonsite.com/Kristin Kreuk Joins The Cast Of Chuck! Entertainment Weekly' s Michael Ausiello has revealed that Kristin Kreuk (Lana) has booked a multi-episode guest role in the upcoming third season of Chuck. She's in good company - former Superman Brandon Routh is also slated for a guest appearance.
Kristin plays Hannah, a girl Chuck meets on a flight to Paris. She's laid off from her glamorous publishing job and ends up working at the Buy More. It's also said that - spoiler warning! - she may be a love interest for Chuck.
Unfortunately, as it stands Chuck Season 3 isn't starting until March 2010. But this casting news gives us even more to look forward to!.

What's different about that^ than to what we already knew? I'm over it. Sure I wish she wasn't in there, but according to the fans, the writing in Chuck is far superior to Smallville, so that could help.. I'll give the girl a chance to redeem herself. Maybe, just maybe she can show that she can actually act.

Kreuk just isn't a good actress. She could have a script written by Mario Puzo and still butcher it.
I didn't she was going to be on Chuck. This is the first time hearing about it.

Kreuk just isn't a good actress. She could have a script written by Mario Puzo and still butcher it. I didn't she was going to be on Chuck. This is the first time hearing about it. Really? Yesterday, I posted (on this same thread) that she was joining the show, and you even posted a comment. Any way, I think she could be a better/decent actress if she stopped being soo melodramatic in her acting. She overacts in a lot of her scenes in Smallville that is so annoying, but the way Lana was written doesn't help her cause at ALL either. I've never seen Chuck, but maybe the director in that show won't allow her to overact? We'll see.. New interesting article, Robert Duncan McNeill Panel At 2009 Toronto SF Expo
This week’s article is a report from the 2009 edition of the Toronto SF Expo. It ran from Friday, August 28 to Sunday, August 30th.
Chuck Director and Executive Supervising Producer, Robert Duncan McNeill, was one of the major guest stars lined up for the Expo. On Sunday he did a Q/A panel. He did a great job of deftly answering questions. The panel crowd was thoroughly entertained and charmed by Robert’s wit and sense of humour.
The questions were mostly about Star Trek: Voyager but Chuck did surface a few times. Here are the Chuck related excerpts from the panel:
1) What’s it like working on Chuck?
I have been producing and directing a show called Chuck. Which is in the States on NBC and I think it is on up here [Toronto] on CITY-TV.
Chuck is great! Chuck is a dream show for somebody like me because I really enjoy comedy. I’ve always enjoyed a set that is funny, as you can tell. So Chuck is a great hybrid show. We’ve got great comic writing, great comic actors with our Nerd Herd and Buy More staff.
Zac Levi is an amazing leading actor on our show. So you got the comedy and the quirky characters and then also we have great emotion with the Chuck and Sarah love story and good writing there.
To top it all off I get to blow stuff up and shoot lots of guns. So you know it’s a dream show for somebody like me. It reminds me of classic Hollywood blockbuster action-comedies like Lethal Weapon and Die Hard. You know the ones with great action and memorable comic sequences. Its just great. Its really fun. So, I love it.
2) What are your current projects?
I’m really pretty immersed in Chuck. This is the third season. I just finished editting the season premiere, just two days ago. Its really exciting.
For those of you that watch Chuck or know it, you know that the guy who created the show, Chris Fedak, probably put it the best, when I heard him say this year that Chuck is really about the birth of a superhero.
The first season was about Chuck about having this computer in his head and being really confused and overwhelmed. The second season was about him kind of going – you know what? I just want to be a regular guy. I don’t want to be a superhero. He was in the denial phase. This season is really about Chuck going – Wait a minute! This is kinda of cool. Yes, I want to be a spy. I do want to be a superhero.
So its really been an interesting project to be involved with because it is just not one concept that keeps repeating itself every week. Its a real evolution. Every season has been a very different kind of chapter.
3) I really like on Chuck this season that we got to see that Jeff was a former Space Invader (Missile Commander actually – LS) champion. I was wondering if there was any more plans to see a little more of Jeff?
Yeah, we are going to see more.
Definitely one thing that is going to happen this season, partially due to budget cuts and the economy and the way life is, you know we were presented with a problem of some budget cuts. So how do we do that? Well, maybe we can’t see the entire cast in every single episode which has actually led us to solve the budget problem.
But that means we write a little deeper for each character. If Jeff and Lester are in an episode they will have a little bit more to do. If Morgan is in an episode he may not just be in the Buy More, we may see him involved in Chuck’s spy life a little bit.
So there is going to be [because] of the economic situation for Season 3 has led us to some interesting ideas, so yeah you are going to see a lot more of those guys.chucktv.net/2009/09/02/robert-duncan-mcneill-panel-at-2009-toronto-sf-expo/Sounds great! I mean, who better to teach Chuck to become a superhero/spy than Superman himself? Also, didn't know that Lt. Paris was a director and executive producer of the show. ;D cool www.btinternet.com/~crippsy_99/pictures/autographs/paris.jpg

He was the male half of the inappropriate (and cost-saving) teen romantic couple throughout the film. The other half was Courteney Cox. They only made half of the movie take place on Earth so they wouldn't have to spend as much money on building sets. That's Cannon for you. ;D

I guess one takes the good with the bad. *sigh* Maybe Kreuk's appearance on Superman-connected shows is part of the "Superman curse" for this century. ;p

Since she left, the Smallville ratings have hit the basement. That Erica Durance, with her man-face and huge fake boobs makes people hate Lois and turned Smallville into parody.Cris -- Thu 09/03/09 2:00 PM I love Kristin! I can’t wait to see her in another tv show.. and much better than smallville garbage now. Kristin and Tom made smallville success! Clois fans hate her because lois and clark in smallville never will be so great like lana and clark was.ausiellofiles.ew.com/2009/09/02/exclusive-smallville-heroine-kristin-kreuk-joins-chuck/comment-page-4/#comments unbelievable haha

LOL!
They forgot to mention the ratings spike after Kreuk left and the ratings drop after Kreuk returned.
;D ;D ;D ;D
Those posters are the very reason I hate most Smallville fans. They forget Lois and Clark are supposed to be together.

So since Superman/Brandon is going to guest star in the show, What type of nods to the Man of Steel --if any-- do you think they will add to the show? Come on, let's have fun with this! ;D
I was thinking, maybe Brandon's character could say that he 'flew in' at some time or something. lol
