Due to being housebound with a chest infection, I had the time to make a MOS trailer with the John Williams Planet Krypton music.

Due to being housebound with a chest infection, I had the time to make a MOS trailer with the John Williams Planet Krypton music. that was excellent. the main williams theme does not fit this trailer. but the music you chose was a perfect fit.

Watching TAKE SHELTER at the moment with Michael Shannon.
He looks a lot like Jack O'Halloran!!

Said it before, and I'll say it again. 1) Flyby reads really well, and was one more solid re-write away from being excellent. 2) I expect much of Flyby to be in MoS 3) Please stop giving hits to ComicBookMovie i hear you- but we arent just talking WB, we're talking WB THEN. when "batman and robin" were in recent memory, and scatwoman was on the horizon... ZERO confidence. Watching TAKE SHELTER at the moment with Michael Shannon. He looks a lot like Jack O'Halloran!! its an interesting film. very character driven piece. i liked it a lot. hit close to home. not sure about the ending. i think i get it, but my wife hated it. shannon is very intense.

Shannon has quite a range. Ever see him in "The Runaways"? It's a biopic about the girl band, when Joan Jett got her big break. He played the flamboyant manager and was a riot. If you can stomach Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett, it's worth a rental.

I hope the look works. It's kind of 'Excalibur' meets 'Alien'. On the surface, I don't care for it at all (I would have been more jazzed by the photos if they went retro like JJ Abrams did for Trek and saw Jorel with the headband and the green shirt and yellow sun on his chest).... but who knows? Could be fantastic in the final film.

i think gandy is right-
chris nolan and goyer write their own ticket:
Speaking with Collider while promoting Starz's Da Vinci's Demons, David S. Goyer talks a little bit about Man Of Steel, for which he wrote the script. Warner Bros. screened the anticipated Superman reboot for a few people, and the reactions so far have been extremely positive. Goyer confirms that he was one of the few to watch it, and when asked if it was everything he hoped it'd be, he simply said, "Yes, yes. I was very happy."
Goyer also recalls getting the job. As we previously knew, he and Christopher Nolan brought the idea of a new Superman film to WB while working on The Dark Knight Rises, and now we know a little more as Goyer details what happened. "Chris (Nolan) and I were working on The Dark Knight Rises, working on the story; we were blocked. We agreed to part ways for a couple of weeks and just see if something had bubbled at the surface. So I went back to my home office. I was wasting time and procrastinating and took out an archive edition of some of the original Superman comic books, Action comic books and started rereading them because I couldn’t figure out this plot point on Dark Knight Rises, I just randomly sat down one afternoon and wrote up some ideas for Superman.
"When I met with Chris Nolan again in another week or so he said, “Have you worked out the problem on the Dark Knight Rises?” I said, “No,” he said, “What have you been doing?” and I said, “Well, I had this idea for Superman,” and because Chris likes to procrastinate as well he said “let’s hear it,” so I told him. And he literally called Jeff Robinov, who’s the head of Warner Bros, while I was sitting there and said, “Jeff, Dave just told me this take on Superman and you need to hear it, I’d like to produce it. Can we come in?” And we went in the next day. That’s how it happened. No, we weren’t trying to do it, it just happened." Pretty cool, eh?

Cool.... but it would have been nice to have heard what WB's position was with Singer at that point, and/or why things had been stalled so much with SR 2- we know that WB couldn't have been thrilled with something with Singer continuing with SR 2--- whether it was with Singer taking so long with his screenwriters & Valkyrie, or what.... or if it was really the kid aspect that they were uncomfortable with. Or, if they were already thinking reboot and that they were too lukewarm on what Singer wanted to do anyways. Probably will never get the real answers for what happened in that time period about what WB was thinking. *sigh* On another note- From being so thrilled with TDK and so disappointed with TDKR I STILL don't think Nolan/Goyer solved a lot of their own plot points for TDKR!

If they were already working on DKR, then Singer would have been long gone from the project.

If someone disliked SR, well, of course.
I'd prefer to forget Ratner's involvement with X3, similarly. I get it.
But... being on the outside, the behind-the-scenes mechanics of how things do and don't get made at studios and what causes this/that to happen I always find fascinating.... especially since it's often hard to discern the truth, if people in the biz might be withholding info so that they don't step on the wrong toes.
As an example, Sam Raimi recently came out and just said that Spiderman 4 didn't happen because he wasn't ready, and that he and the studio were fine..... but given how late this comes out, after all the rumors and reports of why S4 didn't happen..... who knows if Raimi is being totally straight about the situation, or if he's being diplomatic and not wanting to burn bridges at studios?
But.... it's a niche interest. Eventually, maybe the whole story will come out years after (I'm even curious about how Green Lantern turned out the way it did, and that was a horrible film!) much like the SII story.
Anyhow.... back to anticipation with MOS. DId anyone find a running time yet for this, or did I miss that?
I admit I get confused on the timelines for these things. If Singer as gone, if WB wanted a reboot, -- I wonder if a Superman movie would have stayed in limbo for another six+ plus years or so, if not for Goyer/Nolan?

People have been saying 148 minutes for Man of Steel which sounds believable.
And surely WB would have demanded that it come in under 150 minutes to get more showings in each day and sell more tickets.
And if 148 mins is an early cut and if they are still doing final tweaks, then it could get down to 140 mins. I'd prefer a fast paced fantastically exciting Superman movie than a long drawn out movie, a la The Hobbit! And we've already had a Superman movie in 1978 that was epic and seemed long but obviously through amazing editing thanks to Stuart Baird, they got it down to 143 minutes. Nowadays the structure of STM would cause it to be like a 3 hour movie, and we've all seen the 3 hour version of STM and can admit that the editing was needed to get it down to the theatrical length that we all love and remember. Even the special edition from 2001 was great but you can still see why they cut those scenes too.
The editing is so important but it only makes a great movie if you already have a great movie in the can, i.e. a great script, a great story, great performances and a great director to put it all together.

The editing on STM theatrical is some of the best I've ever seen. Particularly the first 2 acts. Thau did not get the flow of it during his 2001 cut, especially halting the Smallville bits to have Ma Kent talk to a fucking parrot.

A movie like this will have at least 10 minutes of credits at the end. Does every asshole who spent 5 minutes on Photoshop really need a credit? Seems like you could cut down the run time by streamlining this shit. Because no one cares. Even if we know there's a post-credits scene, for 10 minutes people are checking their phones, not reading all the credits for the dozen visual effects companies.
We're also not watching their boring ass documentaries on the Blu-ray disc in three months. You can use a Mac. Good for you, tell Reader's Digest.

I'm gonna do a media black out. No clips, no reviews, nothing. I'm going in as blind as possible.

Yes, me too. As tough as that will be in this day and age, no reviews, spoilers or anything. I don't wanna see clips of the film selling phones or meals to kids etc.
