I keep wanting to break it down piece by piece but it's impossible. I'll need to let the adrenaline die down before I can even think about it.
But fav parts of it
Zod's outburst.
Superman hovering with that awesome cape just facing the military.
His exit out of the fortress, silhouetted.
Costners 'you are my son'
Jor-el 'He'll be a god to them'
Best bit was Lois and Superman at the end though.

Best thing about it? It doesn't look AT ALL like a Snyder flick. Oh, I disagree... I think that whole action montage at the end looks like Watchmen. |

I'm actually REALLY impressed with Crowe. And every time I hear him voice that line from All Star Superman I get goosebumps.
And the music. Good God this music!!!

This looks so fucking incredible, I almost vomited. I cried when Pa said, "You ARE my son." The action looks awesome. Everything, honestly, looks perfect. Like the animated series come to life, almost. Digging the look of Krypton, I gotta say. The earth stuff looks to be a bit oversaturated like Kaminski lit it, but whatever. It's a new movie. It'll be what it is. It won't be a remake or sequel, it's a brand new thing. It can look and sound however the heck it wants.
I am so sold.

Goyer just basically mined the best bits of the last 10 years it seems...

Catch the one shot where it looks like Lara is touching the Superman suit, but it has the Jor-El armor/ceremonial thing overlaid on it, but it's clearly the Superman costume underneath it???

I seriously can't even deal with how pleased I am with every aspect of this. The possibilities here are endless. Guaranteed, they WILL tease Brainiac, and probably Doomsday in this flick. I'm calling it.
Too bad Green Lantern was such a disaster, as a Guardians cameo would fit so perfectly with this tone, too.

As far as "origin" goes- its pretty safe- cosmetically different but it hits familiar beats

Sounds to me like his birth being illegal is WHY he was sent away. Hard to say which way they're going with it. Seems to be. Zod doesn't have his goatee in the scenes where he is arrested and says "I will find him" so that's probably how he ends up on Earth. Loved the flight POV with Supes punching Zod across the sky twice. |

I'm actually surprised how much of Christopher Reeve and Donner I see all over this movie.
Jor-El obviously goes into a Brando-esque soliloquy while putting baby Kal-El into the pod.
And the interview... I'll be damned if that isn't an homage to Lois's rooftop. Cavill's mannerisms... the way it's shot... it's Chris.

when supes is flying over the canyons too. STM. when clark is hitchhiking it reminds me of S2. i like this. love cavill. cant say that enough. costner owns it too when he says "you are my son"! i guess my favorite part.  oh man...the score, everything. finally. they did it. i am crying thats what is up.  |
