That percussion-heavy orchestra is bad ass! Can't wait to get the soundtrack.

Ok. My second viewing. Truth.
...whew... I.... I love it... its so... ...how do I say this? ...its just... "real''. It feels more "grown up" w/out being humorless.
I think I have the superman I have craved. And yeah- its not "donnerverse" officially- but they sure as heck aren't ashamed of all that symbolism and subtext.
The jor and lara dialog totally takes me back to brando and susahnna york.
That said- what really really pleases me is that we have this huge trailer- and it actually uses footage from the last trailer -in some cases the same shots in others different takes of the same scene- but in spite of that it did not spoilerize the whole thing like the IM3 campaign.
I'm sold. Totally. I'm walking into that theater free and clear.

Holy shit. I just played the Prelude and Main Titles from STM and skipped the middle part and it basically fit PERFECTLY with the new trailer. Like, they made it set to the track, almost.

There are Donner references, which is awesome as I didn't expect this. There's so much imagery going on in these 3 minutes that it would take me all morning and afternoon capping them and putting in my two cents. If this movie were to be coming out on the first week of May and not Iron Man, it would pull huge numbers I think.
And yes, I totally forgot Synder is directing this movie. A movie with this much dramatic weight is not up his alley, but it may appear that with the right script, he's capable of making decent movie. Or rather, he totally respects the Superman mythos...not just the Donner movies, but everything Superman.

Oh and I'm pretty sure that Zimmer's new score for the movie. It fits the description from that interview he had out a week or two ago.

The Donnerverse feel is interesting. So much of what's in the trailers mirrors the earlier films. If the structure of the trailer is anything like the movie itself, it definitely has a STM vibe with the three distinct chapters- Krypton, Smallville/Alaska, Metropolis/Zod. This feels like an evolution of what came before, and that's somewhat comforting.
I love the scope of this thing. It looks like the grand epic the Abrams movie was intended to be. It looks fantastic. Some of it I'll need to see in context (the tight 3rd person shots of Superman when he's in flight could be a bit disorienting if they're not edited together in a way that keeps things coherent), but it's a very impressive trailer. Love the unconventional score; it almost builds up to a fanfare, then stops short....I wonder if they're pulling a Batman Begins/Casino Royale and making him "earn" some sort of hero theme? If that's the case, the moment when it kicks in could be amazing.
Also, I was relieved to see the short bit of Superman and Lois. That's something that was missing from the earlier trailers; a scene where Superman shows genuine warmth and charisma.

He nails it and so does she in that one scene. She has such a spark that Bosworth so desperately lacked.

I dunno why but I really dig that there is chesthair coming out from the top of Superman's suit. They aren't making a pretty boy.
I feel like the fathers in the movie are going to be amazing. I can't wait to see what Crowe and Costner do. I'm guessing Jonathan will die because Clark was showing off somewhere or something like that, causing him to question why he is and can do what he does. Zod shows up and he has to decide if he wants to live up to his destiny or not. He'll be afraid for his mother, all that sorta stuff. It'll humanize him in a way that'll make all those lame Superman haters think, "Ah, shit, we were wrong."
I feel like this movie could have a surprising amount of heart.

The score reminds me of Bear McCreary's Battlestar Galactica scores, minus some of the funkier sitar/bagpipe/string stuff he'd throw into the mix. The heavy percussion in particular feels familiar. I loved McCreary work on that show.

I'm calling it now -
The Lois narration in the trailer will play at the end of the movie.
"How do you find someone who has spent a lifetime covering his tracks? For some, he was a guardian angel. For others, a ghost who never quite fit in."
It'll probably be her reciting an article she wrote and it'll probably end with, "For me, he's a super man."
And that's how he'll get the name. At the very end of the movie. I bet he just uses Kal-El the whole time.
I can see it now...a shot of Lois typing away on the computer with her narration and then cut to Superman doing some awesome flying scene before the credits.

I'm just sorry I've got a full day of work and study or I'd sit and watch it on repeat all day.
There are parts that seem to have gone the same route as STM, but I think with some of them it's hard to go another route. Take his interrogation for example, he has to meet Lois, she's got to find out about him so that type of scene is inevitable.
So glad Russell Crowe was cast as Jor-El though. One of my favourite actors, and he has the right voice for making those All Star Superman line's feel as important as they should.

Best line... "Excuse me?" Love it!!!!
And love that big banging drumming musical moment when Superman is under that huge ray of light... "da da da da, da da da da!"

I've always been about jor-el as the underappreciated supporting character in the mythos- but not since glenn ford ... ...maybe because I'm a middles aged dad.
I guess if I "identify" its with jon kent.
