OK, it's probably more efficient to just do my version of caps and commentary than just to provide a link. Plus, I enjoy breaking things down. These are really exciting times for us Superman fans and while many of us are older now, we're still kids at heart when it comes to this stuff. Anyway, let's carry on...
Oh sorry for the big pictures on some. That seems to be a problem with imageshack. We all should had HD monitors now anyway....
The trailer opens up to Jor-El watching a destruction in the form of some kind of war. Perhaps, the destruction of Krypton is not done by the traditional "exploding sun", but instead, it's done by an invasion of war...this right here could bring an introduction to a villain that may appear in other sequels. Or a tie with the DC universe. I really hope this is the case and not a matter of Zod destroying Krypton. I don't think it is and I'll explain why later on with one key image.
Alien wildlife on Krypton. A gigantic dragonfly, most likely used as a means for transportation.
Russell Crowe delivering the voiced-over lines. He's totally not phoning in performance. The difference between him and Brando is the paycheck. While Brando still delivered what he had to do, I always felt his performance was influenced more by the paycheck than the craft...especially at that time of his career. Crowe here, I feel he's always into it, even if the movie sucks.
These sequences of images and the interaction/dialogue between Lara and Jor-El is totally inspired from Donner's movie. That was my immediate impression and honestly, I loved it. I didn't feel awkward as I did with Superman Returns where the references were a bit too much (wankfest). Here, since I know this is going to be its movie, references to Donner's movie is welcomed and appreciated because they're not like "screw those movies. This is the real Superman movie".
Parts from the teaser. With Crowe narrating.
Parts from trailer #2. Let me note that the background score seems to be relatively new and I would bet my life that it's Zimmer's new score. It fits the description from a couple of weeks ago with the orchestrated percussions. I love it. It's different and he's using rhythm to get a rise out of the emotional resonance within the images. Batman was the same way, but as you see...the tone is the opposite. It's not dark at all.
"You are my son." Costner as Jonathan Kent and the reveal of the space vessel. Of what we know of Costner's acting style, he's going to fit in real nice as Jonathan Kent.
Costner continues with his voice-over that sounds a bit like Glenn Ford's words to Clark back in Donner's movie. Clearly a reference. These images we've seen already.
That right there, folks....that's the Fortress of Solitude. It's a spacecraft. And I don't care who takes credits of saying it first, but I kinda speculated it first when I broke down the second trailer.
Interesting here. Lois is on an assignment to find out who Superman is, but she's really following Clark's footsteps....even going to the Fortress maybe? I love it. She's actually doing her job for once and not dumb to the idea that Superman can blend in as a regular person. I wouldn't even be surprised if she knows early on in the movie that Clark is Superman.
This looks to be a big heroic sequence from Clark before he dons the blue and red.
Superman comes out of the Fortress. Maybe this is his grand entrance wearing the costume? One thing's for sure, you can at least expect from Synder that the movie is going to be visually impressive.
Crowe reciting All-Star Superman with the music building up to the blast off. To see this trailer in theaters is going to be amazing. I saw trailer 2 in an IMAX theater and I was knocked off my boots. You all have to experience that before seeing the movie because it's really inspiring and gets you feeling really pumped. It also makes you realize that this movie is pretty much what you've always wanted in the last 20 years.
Superman flying away from some tentacle machine thing. I want to say he's in space battling it.
Plane crashing on a street.
This is definitely Krypton based on that dragonfly looking thing. Probably from the breakout war that happens. Don't know who that is, though.
Superman fighting some force beam.
"You believe your son is safe?" Zod talking to Lara?
The military aiming their weapons at the hovering Superman.
"I WILL FIND HIM!!!!!" Zod overlooking Metropolis. But when he delivers the line, I noticed he's cuffed. Ready to be shipped to the Phantom Zone. Faora is on the left?
Faora about to deal with a missile. Has to be her because I see breasts.
LexCorp on the building!
Zod deflecting something. Wearing that armor and some protective film over his head and face.
Damn, this guy's hair is curly.
Superman flies away. This is so fast that it was rather difficult to get 2 frames that looked clear.
Superman flying down to saving someone from falling.
Metropolis getting wreaked and the Air Force trying to make an impact.
Lara touching the S. Jor-El's wardrobe? I can see Superman's costume material underneathe. That tells you something about the costume and what it is on Krypton.
Dude is jacked.
Jenna Olsen?
While a lot of the flying is CG (I have no problem with that, I think CG has improved enough over the years to make it look realistic enough), I notice there are moments where it's clearly Cavill...like in the close-ups.
I thought this scene was cute. Cavill really holds a great and strong presence. Adams sounds like Nicole Kidman strangely...but anyway, it looks like it's going to be a good scene between the two. Someone noted...I think Kevin...that his chest hair is coming out of his suit.
Superman punching Zod in the air. Also notice that when he punches him, there's this air distortion...giving you an idea on hard the impact is. It looks significally hard.
Anyway, that's it! June 14, bitches!
