OK, just got back from Star Trek Into Darkness - it really was amazing (well, especially in IMAX 3D!) and such fun, and I think Man of Steel really needs to pull out all the stops to have any chance of surpassing Star Trek.
Stupidly, they showed the old Xmas trailer for MOS before Trek!

Star Trek is bollocks to me so it won't have to do much to surpass it in my eyes ;D

Comedy central just had an ad on for South Park.
All Randy Marsh.
The voice over said "For some he was a guardian angel, for others, a ghost that never quite fit in. In time he will help them accomplish wonders. The most totally awesome Randy episodes ever. Cue pic of Randy with an 'R' shield and red cape ;D

It's definitely going to be a competitive summer-
Iron Man 3 a lot of people are having big love for (though I'm mainly hearing people who love it more for the comedy than the superheroics- and quoting dialogue); Star Trek 2 will be fun I think if only to see the cast again in those characters (it's not like they're pumping them out every two years like the originals); Wolverine covers the most famous miniseries material he was in--- if they pull it off well, it could be bank----
But then again- MOS isn't a sequel and the trailer does have people curious. But, it's a pity that the way the market seems to work, that they can't just spread these releases out throughout the year, rather than have them (mostly) all battle it out for summer....

These might be worth something when I'm dead, but for now they're just my shitty art work. These were done today in oil pastel (it is not crayon). I haven't created any art in a few years, so I'm a bit rusty. The first one is pretty shitty. I have tortillon sticks for blending, but I got a bit lazy because there was too much shadow. I also picked a lousy shade for the flesh. The second one is not as bad, plus I was able to play with different shades of color to create highlights (since the original pic is lit from the back and overhead). It's so difficult to fully recreate those photos in such a crude medium because of the wacky lighting and the texture of the suit. I like the hard edged, sharply defined black features (the face) vs. the sketchier colours of the suit.

Yeah, that flying shot made me gasp. I feel like we've already gotten more cool Superman imagery in the trailers and TV spots than ALL of Superman Returns.

Snyder has great style, it's just the substance stuff I worry about in his films....
The dream team would be Singer for the drama, Snyder for the action on a superhero film... (Not necessarily Superman either)

Yeah I'm still worried the story won't flow well but fuck it. I'm gonna try and be as positive as possible. Flying on screen has been done quite a bit now, yet still these new shots feel fresh. That shot I posted I love, the sonic boom flying low across the sea was very cool too. Fucking Superman

Jesus...
Yeah, story wise, at this point, who cares, visually it's going to be fucking amazing, for DAMNED sure. If it's a great story, awesome! If not, we got something neat to look at. Of course I WANT it to be a great story and it certainly could be, but I'm not really worrying about it anymore. I'm just going in for a ride.

I'm not worried about the story at all, really. I know it will be fairly decent at minimum. With this kind of cast, I don't think anyone would sign on if the story and angle was complete garbage and certainly a few of them wouldn't do it for the sake of the paycheck.
And it's pretty awesome seeing Cavill actually doing the flying in some close-up shots.

I think with Goyer it'll be a good story. More about how Snyder gets it to flow and pieces it together.
But fuck it, it's Superman, I'm sure he'll be extra vigilant, and like you say eccentric, with the cast he has in this film it's gotta be well acted surely.

Well, holy shit. I really have no words for these. I'm not sure I'm ready for the visual blowjob Snyder will be giving me.
Unbelievable.
