I could not possibly go into "man of steel" with the unrealistic, doomed to deflation expectations I had going into "superman returns". I know so little about this film that its impossible to have any sort of expectation. I just hope its a great ride. If not then its not the end of the World. I can't believe one single person out there will seriously compare this to STM ("Will it replace it?"). Seriously? how will that work out? People will somehow forget STM if this film is a giant mega hit? Way too many years have passed now. Its the same as asking will people forget Star Trek Wrath/Khan today if people LOVE the new film. Or will people forget Connery now Craig is so popular. Back in 2006, people who felt threatened by Routh taking the mantle were pathetic. " Reeve will always be Superman". Its even more pathetic if people have that stance now. Nobody on this board, but there are those retards out there.

Not hard to score premiere tickets when only four other people show up. But the Walmart employees were wearing their capes. One wanted to take a picture. I said no way. Five people in line for your big premiere sale just looks bad. Plus, the merchandise selection at this store isn't a fraction of what's advertized. It looked cheap, and it was kind of embarassing that I bothered showing up for this. It's not like I needed to be there to get tickets apparently.

Brad, I was the only one there to get tickets. The employee in electronics don't even know about it. No one had capes and the display was barely full. It's a small town where i live but it was pretty pathetic.. No one cared about promoting this movie or wanting to make sales today.

If I was a Walmart employee I'd be mortified having to bounce around in a kids cape to be honest.

There was crazy marketing there, the logo was everywhere and all the big screen tvs were playing a loop of all the trailers and a little interview with synder and the producers. And there were well over 100 people getting 3d and 2d tickets...i guess every town is different.. Yes the capes were cheezy..The energy there was strong...JUNE 13 BABY!!!!!

He's grinning because he knows he isn't in SR. ;D ;D ;D ChrisM, yeah and Reeve clearly had an evil grin when he told Non and Ursa not to throw the bus. You're really reaching man, too far.

The employee capes might be cheesy but I'm hoping to get my hands on one just to have. If I get more I would sell them on eBay lol, since you can't get them anywhere else.

Who does the term "Man of Steel" actually refer to?
Looking at Zod's suit, it might actually be him. Not Superman.

never really thought about that!
I think it's safe to say he isn't called Superman until the end of the film anyway. In that little behind the scenes doc and in the other clips the text always has Cavill as playing Clark Kent/Kal-El as opposed to Clark Kent/Superman.

I was reading some MOS articles yesterday, getting generally hyped up, and the wife turned to me and said "Look at you man crushing over Superman"
All I could reply was "Damn right. You know I love him!"
The wait is getting unbearable now lol

the way that the particles starts to fly as an indication that superman is going to take flight is so awesome. looks like he is charging up.
i guess matrix already had done that but from what i saw until now they are going to nail it.

He's grinning because he knows he isn't in SR. Yeah, I think Cavill knows he dodged a bullet the last time he was up for the role.

I was disappointed, but not surprised. I live in fucking Idaho, after all. I would love to hear if the Paducah, Kentucky, Walmart was crazy busy. After all, it's the closest store to Metropolis, Illinois. If you love Superman, you must go to Metropolis, Illinois, before you die. I've been twice. Yeah, it's a podunk place. But the Superman museum is awesome. I'd love to go during the big festival they have every year. It's not a long drive from my Alabama home, so I try to go whenever I get home. I died the year I couldn't get down when Allison Mack was there. I was going to confess my undying love. Or get arrested for stalking. Whatevs.

www.supermanhomepage.com/news.php?readmore=13154Similar tales across the country about dismal participation by the general public and Walmart employees. Here's the thing: It's 2013. We're used to buying tickets through Fandango or the theater's website so we don't have to stand in lines anymore. We're lazy. You can say that it takes away from meeting up with like-minded fans, but ... well, where were those fans this morning? The idea of having a Thursday premiere is so the hardcore fans can have a screening, have that sense of geek community. But, if I show up on Thursday night and only about a dozen or so other people show up, what was the point? Might as well wait until Friday night and see it with a big crowd. It's not that people don't want to do these things. They do. My local theater promoted the heck out of The Dark Knight Marathon last year. All three movies, starting on Thursday night with "The Dark Knight Rises" scheduled for midnight. The place was packed. A lot of the blame lies with Walmart. This was barely promoted, and if it wasn't already on people's radar from following everything about this movie then Walmart didn't help itself. Of course, if the reports are true that store employees didn't do shit to help promote the sale, then that's on WB. It's Walmart. Everybody knows Walmart's reputation. Best Buy would have been a better partner. It's a misstep in an otherwise fine marketing campaign.
