;D Holy shit. That was entertaining. A lot of people say it will be "watchmen" with superman in it- but it actually looks like- "The day the earth stood still".........with superman in it.

Having watched it back again. It's basically their trailer to say "look this isn't SR, it's packed with action" and to basically get more asses on seats.

Wow, that trailer is very "dudebro" to me. Some of the effects shots are really "ZACK SNYDER!" (I.e., they look really bad. Some of the super-running looks like Jeff East running in S:TM) which has now raised the concern meter from 0 to 10%, unfortunately.

First off... Jor- thanks for those scans....WOW those posters look great! (Bad for my wallet, though...) That's fine with me. I admire their amazing restraint and steady planning with each trailer a step up from the one before. Did they get a new marketing dept since SR? If so, hats off to them.

One thing interesting to note from the new trailer: This is the first time ever in a Superman movie that the creative powers that included mass destruction on Earth.
Superman II hinted at it....but softened it with comedy.
STM, SIII, SIV, and SR had Supes save EVERYONE in Metropolis from any disaster.....but this time around it certainly looks like ID4- scale destruction and that people (it looks like) clearly get killed in the mass destruction.
Does anyone find this disturbing or just more realistic that many innocents suffer as collatoral damage in a Superman film? (Assuming this is the case)

Whoah... That trailer was DARK! Different way to go with marketing, not sure if its the best way to go but it is certainly intriguing.
Will that be shown before Hangover 3?

It would be naive to believe everyone survives an onslaught like that. I'm sure thousands died in Dark Knight Rises. If you sugar coat the threat of violence and death, then there's no stakes, no drama, no conflict, and no point in watching.

Surely we all knew what this trailer would be?
This is Zod's trailer, and apparently the music playing through is the track 'General Zod' from the soundtrack.
They couldn't give us another trailer focusing on story. Like TDKR last year the last trailer was always going to be one that was flat out action just to show people some cool visuals and get them to go and see it.
But erm, everything happens so fast in the trailer, but what I can see looks fantastic, and I mean we'll get to see Superman beat the shit out of villains, I can't wait to be honest.

And the first couple notes of that Zod theme sound like the opening to The Empire Strikes Back theme!

I'm not saying UF is wrong, or too nervous, but for me the visuals/action- the LEAST. Of my concern. Once I saw he was restrained with the tradmeark slo-mo I was cool.
These are characters who move at superspeed- so from a human perspective there's going to be shots like that.
My biggest concern (10%) is the slower, delicate moments. The banter between kal and lois, john and martha, the kents and clark etc. (It can't possibly be as cluky as the clark/lois dynamic in SR- we have a better script)

I gotta say the feedback from this last trailer has been nothing but positive. People who were unsure are now comfortable with this movie. Like I said before, once those early reviews start popping and it turns out to be nothing but raves, this movie will do excellently.

I'm with UF on this. That trailer was the worst out of all of them, and for the first time, I am also concerned about the movie. And who was the retard who decided to waste 23 seconds of a 1:47 trailer on TV static?

When you've got super powered organisms battling each others it's got to be extremely tough to pull off. So I can forgive the odd bit of dodgy CGI, but so far I'm delighted. But this trailer is just straight up action to sell it to a different type of person. Trailer 3 is still the best hands down. In saying that if you don't enjoy these glimpses off action then Superman Returns might be more your thing. Did anyone notice Superman screaming at the train station where Cavill had that photo with that little kid? But fuck man, heat vision!!!!

I agree.... but I'm glad and suprised that WB was willing (if we're right about how it'll turn out) to go there.
Not that I want movies to all have thousands of fictional innocents killed, but since WB seemed to resist that 'line' with SII and SR, when it could have helped the drama of the piece- it's interesting that now WB allows that line NOW to be crossed for a Superman film. (*Although Mank's did have cars fall off bridges/etc. in his SII script--- and it's been said that Donner wanted to have Metropolis mostly destroyed by the mayhem).

What has to be understood with this new trailer is that it's suppose to attract a different audience from the ones who were looking for a Superman movie with an epic story. This trailer is strictly for those who are looking for an action-based, summer movie. It had much more testosterone, menace, and visualized effects than anything we've seen before in the promotion. So yes, I can see how that put a couple of members off here, but it's not like this last trailer has suddenly REVEALED the true nature of the movie.
I would've been concerned if the movie suddenly showed wacky and 4th wall breaking humor in the last trailer. That's something worth to be concerned about than visual FX that don't look up to certain standards.

I can get why the idea of the distorted tv static might have seemed scary in concept- but the result is rather flat imo. This trailer is action packed, but overall I think the one before this one is the best overall.

Does it really matter if millions of people die? Superman can just turn back the world and undo it...

Well its usually those types that these action packed trailers target. Anyone having any concerns, just watch the first two trailers back and remind yourself of Crowe and Costner's moments. I always feel like we're getting dangerously close to being negative about action when it's what we apparently wanted for so long ;D
