Yeah, I saw it too. Henry seems like such a good and down to earth guy. And thanks to the awesomeness of DVR, I have watched that clip they showed like 5 times now. INCREDIBLE. Here I expected a clip of him interacting with Lois or Jor-El, and they drop THAT on us. For those that missed it....sucks to be you.

His American accent is weaker than I originally thought, unfortunately... it's actually really bad at the end of this trailer when he says "you might want to step back a little bit... maybe a little bit more".
I'm glad I'm hearing it now so I know what to expect, but I'm really surprised they didn't fix it in post.

Surely they'd fix that sort of stuff? or are they lazy enough to just say cut and stick it in anyway? One thing I will say, I haven't heard a complaint about Cavill yet, so hopefully if his accent does slip it's only once or twice.

Gary Oldman's London accent (whenever he's shouting) in TDK is hilarious. Not watching any more clips on this. Going to be watching the whole thing a week on Sunday FFS!

Oldmans slipped a lot of times, many do. Bales is excellent though he's been in the USA for a long time.
In the above Zod clip Cavill nails it, if he can keep it to that standard for most of the film then brilliant

Fassbender's accent in X-Men goes all over the place. It goes from slight German to British and at the end of movie (last 20 minutes), he stays on his Irish.

The best example I'm aware of with an actor hiding their normal speaking voice for another "accent" was michael caine in "secondhand lions". (A good film btw)
Anyhoo- saw the clip UF is talking about- didn't bother me.

Also- I read yesterday that MOS has earned 1/2 to 2/3 of its budget already in promotional tie-ins, with it having the most promotional tie-ins of any film ever( beating "the lorax" and other commercial films).

I saw an IGN article stating that its tracking to open at 100 million, and Warners us hoping for at least 300 million domestically, but insiders think its going to have some pretty long stating power throughout the summer

I'm not really sure why this line bugs some of you lads. I would expect any white mom from suburbia to deliver the line like that - when you're trying to convince someone of a point people tend to emphasize certain words. If you hear anything with a distinctive delivery a million times, it can mess with your heads a bit. Relax. Enjoy the film. I like what I'm seeing from Cavill's screen presence. I think the hyper-stylized FX for the ADD generation will probably annoy me as much as legoland does... but I think I've seen enough clips to know going in it's going to be a very worthwhile 2+ hours.

I think- not here, but definately in nerdworld in general- there's a very pervasive anti DC/superman bias. A LOT of people WANT it to fail. On one hand WB DOES have to prove they can do something other than batman- but there's a LOT of sore-winners on the other side.
But even here I can see there's a ...fear (?) To love/really like MOS for fear of being too "fanboyish" so there's this urgency to pick on and overreact to teeny tiny details like the tone of a voice in a single line in a 2:20 film or handwringing over a an accent.
Just look back to where we were 2 years ago- and where we are now- and ask what's really important.

Do you know what, i still can't shake this bad feeling about the film. I don't really know why. Initial reactions i've read are in the main, extremely positive, but then you have a few people in the industry with cryptic tweets which seem to suggest the reason there is an embargo is because it sucks! I don't know what to think, the sooner you lot see it and give us feedback (spoiler free) the better. Where are these cryptic tweets you speak of? I don't have time to dig up the tweets, but Devin Faraci (who's given a positive review to just about everything Snyder's done, if memory serves) basically said, "If people are saying nothing but good things about a movie that's still embargoed, it doesn't mean people aren't going to have negative things to say about it. It's just that studios won't crack down on positive comments. Negative comments will come once the embargo is lifted, and there could be a lot of them." When someone asked directly if he was referring to Man of Steel, he essentially said, "It's not complicated."

My friend has seen the film. HE LOVED IT!!! The trailers give very little away. The film is HUGE. Cavill's up there with Reeve. Maybe even surpassed Reeve's performance. Shannon's Zod is terrific.

I don't mean to suggest that anyone is "wrong" for having criticisms or doubts- But two years ago the ENTIRE premise, crew and company gave us nothing BUT fear, dread and trepidation. Now we're at the minutia. The rest looks gold.

When someone asked directly if he was referring to Man of Steel, he essentially said, "It's not complicated." Yeah that was it Shiny. But one thing we do need to remember, is that guy is a dickhead. He really dislikes the Nolan Batman trilogy because of the more realistic approach. Now I dont rate that trilogy as much as many, but there's no denying they're great films, I feel like this guy is just getting ready to hate it knowing Superman is going down a similar route. The other guy who said he heard ominous things, confirmed to me that his friend said it was far too self serious. Most reactions have been quite positive though. As for what Jor-El alluded to, the film does have certain things going against it. Main things being ;- a) Superman isn't cool anymore, that image will be tricky to shake, you have to get people in the theatre first. b) Zack Snyder, even if he's pulled it off, the guy has a lot of critics and I dont doubt there will be people who go into it looking to hate it because its a Snyder film. Gandy, that's great to hear, how reliable, or rather how critical would you say your friend is?

Because I'm looking forward to it, because I want it to do well? Fucking crazy thing to see on a Superman forum eh

Sometimes the source of the negativity is unintetionally hilarious too. Last week, there was a kerfuffle about this "abysmal" review going around twitter-
- turns out this militant feminist extremist was pissed that its called "MAN of steel", and that lois is "only a supporting" character! Lol. Its not "lois lane:the movie", and all the male characters besides clark/kal are "only supporting" as well!

Very reliable. I have met him and he's a big Superman fan.
He had a negative, but it's not a big deal. STM has lots of problems, but we love it.
The movie will be a valentine.

"This movie will be a valentine" ....niiiiiiice. Love your profile pic Jor... Off topic, but you ever seen this video? It's one of the most epic speeches ever... I'd guess the ID4 presidential speech is somewhat inspired by it.

Good stuff Gandy, ofcourse it'll be far from perfect. I already know one huge spoiler I was annoyed about finding out and I know it's something some people will have a problem with. But as long as I enjoy the film! Cavill better than Reeve though? If it happens I'll eat my hat, that's how much I think of Reeve!
