Nice use of the "Pleasantville" soundtrack there. First class score that one.

Okay, yeah, I figured you probably hadn't seen it. Reason I ask, I figure that sequence could possibly be in the shooting script. Anyone had a look at that? If I remember correctly, in the novelization (which usually will use the script as a guide) it comes at the beginning. Just really curious as to where Singer would have put the Krypton bit because it seems perfect to see Clark for the first time at the crash site outside the house, and the scene in the video above seems like the perfect fit after thinking about it.

It does seem to fit there very well, which is odd considering how we'd all assumed it be at the beginning of the movie. I wonder if whoever made that video just took creative license or knows something we don't.
Also, I noticed they didn't include the brief shot from the trailer of Superman's spaceship surveying the remains of Krypton. I thought for sure they'd put that in there.

Yeah, good point. That kinda seems like a no-brainer. That is the only actual shot from the sequence that anyone has actually seen, right?

He just knows a lot about these things, it's his job in real life, I think. He is a poster at BTs.

Pretty simple poll here. According to wikipedia Singer claims that the sequence couldn't be included on the dvd because it was converted to IMAX 3d. That sounds like BS to me and could be put on a home video format. I really hope that someday we see this sequence. If/when the movie is re-released hopefully it will be included.

I think we eventually will. It's only a matter of time.
I don't buy the "Converted to IMAX" BS, TDK had its IMAX scenes included in the Blu-ray/DVD release.

Jesus just another example of wasting money. Only certain sequences were converted to IMAX 3D because it was a last minute decision to release it in 3D. So what do they do? They convert the sequence and then CUT IT from the film? Wow... Singer's excuse is pure bullshit, the scene wasn't on the dvd because it cost millions of dollars to shoot and they planned on using it for the sequel. The entire movie was shot digitally, putting a version of the scene on dvd would have been easy. I'm sure at some point the scene will be included, perhaps even an extended cut of the film.

So they converted it to 3D and threw away the master? Bull.
Even then, IMAX 3D shouldn't be hard to convert back.

It will be released when the new superman movie hits dvd and bluray. It wont happen before then, and most likely singer will not be involved in the re edit.

Thoughts: #1: Is the info ONLY from wikipedia? It's hard to trust that entity.
#2: If we were FINALLY able to see the Donner footage....given all the legal quagmires that stuff had been entangled with..... then eventually hopefully we'll see this- but the demand has to be out there for WB to know.
#3: I'd be highly suprised if Singer is asked/gets involved with a re-edit. He doesn't seem the type to go back and re-edit things. The last thing was supposedly Xmen #1.....which I would have LOVED to see reedited by Ottman.... I'd be also suprised if the contract allowed others to edit it without his approval- but given how different dvd projects have come out as different versions unapproved by the director, who knows?

If there is a re-edit...I want a remaster in both colour and picture quality.

I mostly agree, but I was under the impression that a good deal of footage (especially the RTK segment) was cut at the last moment after already being apart of the (almost) final edit. I don't know if this would be considered a re-edit as much as restoring the deleted segments. Singer had already made the decisions on how to cut the scenes, they were just removed for time at a late stage. I'm also not sure how much power WB has to do this, but SONY has done it a few times without the Directors input, Black Hawk Down, The Missing and a few other films basically just had deleted scenes put back into the film.

If the deleted scenes and full soundtrack to Superman IV got released - an impossible pipe dream for years - then I say its completely inevitable this Krypton sequence will be release someday
I am 100% sure.

Would be nice if the other deleted scenes from IV are put out there when the new film comes out, as well.
Wonder how much effort will be put into new sets to promote Superman?
I'm still amazed how much we actually got in terms of effort for the silver box set (despite the manufacturing flaws & all, thought it was pretty damn good!)....
Will WB go all out with any new stuff or just the same old stuff in a new package when it's closer to time to the release?
My personal guess is that everything got tied into the push for the Singer version. With millions on the line- the cost for the dvd bigbox collection was neglible.
But will they do it again (jump into making something 'fresh' from the old Reeve films) or consider it too risky for the Snyder version?
My only hope is that to promote the new film- if there isn't an official IRC release of SII- (please please please) or if there isn't a newer extended cut of RDC (of course) or more deleted/extended scenes (another option)--- then contacting Selutron.....but without Donner's blessing, I doubt this last option...
*sigh*

Interesting to think what we may get when WB start to promote Snyderman. Would definitely want the return to Krypton from SR. Deleted scenes from the Reeve films, more interviews and such that were not included in the tin set. 3hr STM,fully cleaned up of course, DVD quality would do me SII RIC and ALL deleted scenes shot by both Donner and Lester. (remastered also, fan cuts galore...) WB have the capacity to do such a good deed. They managed it fine with the gorgeous Blade Runner set, the deleted scenes were excellent and of course the Work Print. We should start badgering WB with petitions and emails soon...

Yes indeed -
The one single thing I'm looking forward to in regard to this new Superman picture is the re-releasing -
A new tin of blu-rays with all deleted scenes (including Returns Krypton footage) is too good an opportunity to miss and a great sales ploy for a new set...

Agreed.... they did a GREAT job with the Blade Runner set. In that case, though, it seemed like Ridley was a little more interested in what was going on--- although his intro for the versions included that he couldn't stand were unintentionally funny.
It was almost as if someone pointed a gun to his head and was told that they were going in whether he wanted them in or not, and would he be willing to do a happy introduction to them... ;D
I wouldn't need anyone to force Donner to give a happy introduction to the STM or SII IRCs---- but I totally agree.....would love to have them in widescreen restored dvd quality. *sigh*

I absolutely love the Blade Runner Bluray set, espc the Work Print.
I dont think WB realise they are sat on a gold mine which could be very profitable for them. Moreover,I don't think they care.
Damn! Wish I was some bigshot at warners...not fare!
I hate-just hate the fact that all that hard work lay dormant in vault somewhere.

Hopefully, we will get Lester's Superman II on Blu-ray, along with a more proper Blu-ray release of the first film with all of the special features and the theatical version and if doesn't have the original audio with it, so help me!

Would like to see a Final Cut of 2,improbable I know. But something that we can watch from beginning to end and not have to dick about between two dvds.
