Gday everyone, First time posting. I just wondered if there will be a chance that Singer will give us the deleted krypton scenes now that MOS may not happen??? I know they are re-releasing SR on bluray to include the better audio - should he include the original start to the movie???
Thoughts, feelings?

If Waterworld can get an extended cut, surely Superman Returns can.

There's really no reason to hold back now. Get it out on a Special edition extended Directors final re-cut cut.
I think it'd be a shame to never release it. If WB can release the RDC which would largely have a limited sale appeal then SR shouldn't be a problem at all.

g'day yourself. With a name like Wilko you have to be an aussie - pretty sure there's not many of us on here.
I reckon they will release it sooner or later, may depend on the direction Warners take with the reboot. If it includes Routh it's possible they might find a use for it somehere.
If not, surely it would pop up on a DVD release at some stage

Welcome wilko2008 I think that if Singer does MOS it will be included as a flash back beginning, possibly to introduce a villain. Fingers crossed.

While the very concept of Kal-El visiting the ruins of Krypton is an impossibility considering how the planet was destroyed (the sun went nova and Krypton was obliterated into tiny bits, ie: Kryptonite), seeing such landmarks as the dome would have been awesome.
This footage NEEDS to be seen, be it in an extended SR or a prologue to the sequel.

Too bad the footage was cut . Would have been an amazing opening to the movie.

Too bad the footage was cut . Would have been an amazing opening to the movie. Singer apparently didn't think so, opting instead for a disturbing Noel Neil cameo, thanking Lex Luthor for "showing her pleasures..."

Seeing all of this makes me wish for (1) a SUPERMAN RETURNS re-release or special edition Blu-ray restoring this scene; and (2) that Singer gets going on the damn sequel now, now, now!

The fortress art looks amazing. Here is a fan clip recreating the 'return to Krypton' sequence. It’s been hosted by Jim Bowers for some time over at CapedWonder. Forgive me if it’s been brought up before. www.capedwonder.com/movies/CW-Return_to_Krypton.movClip was created by Superfan Julian Adderley.

The film was too long and drawn out as it is; should have split into 2 films IMO
Mind you, a return to Krypton concept is wrong in the first place for many obvious reasons, example: "I've been dead for many 1000s of your years", which we know is said in the "Singer" version.
Ah, its too typically dumbed down and I can't be arsed to go into it.
Probably for the best it was cut out. it might have looked "cool" but so what?

Such a waste if this is never seen in a movie.
It would be the PERFECT opening for Man of Steel. Have Braniac follow him home.

I've always wondered what Jor-El meant by "many thousands of your years". I think Jor-El is speaking in a hyperbole. Because Kal-El left Krypton as a baby and is now 18 and has no memory of Krypton, it's as if it were like thousands of years for him. When you're 5 years old and you think about being 30, it's like an eternity away, right? A stretch, I know, but it's the only thing that makes sense. Lex said himself that Krypton exploded in 1948. But then again, he magically deduced that kryptonite is lethal to him.

The sequence is redundant. We know he's been there, we don't really need to see it plus the film is over-bloated as it is.
Should have been included in a deleted scene presentation in the DVD or something.
We definitely do need to see it, but not really tacked at the begininng of SR.

I kinda still have a feeling, that IF they don't do a direct sequel to Returns, then this sequence would work quite well with a prequel to SR.

Check out this pre-vis video of how the first shots of the movie would be! www.benprocter.com/SITEv2/HTML/MOVPOP_Superman_05.htmlI love how we only see the inside so that were not sure if its a Flashback to Krypton or something else. I also love how it stays dark until the big reveal when the camera backs up outside the window! When they do the reveal, there was supposed to be a really cool Blade Runner style Window Blinds effect for his observation window. When the "Shade" raises, the sunlight streams in , revealing Superman's face! Love those miniature versions of the Fortress control panel at his fingertips. I like that blue spherical navigation thingy as well! God I wanna see this
