Digital Bits confirms that STM will receive a new video master. Superman II also. Very good news.
The animated Fleischer cartoons will be SD, not HD. Kind of a waste then.
S2DC and Superman Returns will be the same HD masters as before.
Unknown if the original sound mix of STM will be included. I assume it will be though.
Day 1 purchase for me.

hecks bells. So STM theatrical will look better than STM: SE? I can't fucking WAIT. Ohhh man. Wonderful news. And SII!
Kinda disappointed about SR still looking the same, but whatevs. The cartoons not in HD is also very weak, but whatevs again.
Whatevs as in, "FUCK! Well...whatever."

It's a little confusing. The Bits says the master for STM theatrical is brand new, but that the master for the extended cut is newer than the one used for Blu-ray.
Either way, both will be welcome upgrades.

S3 and S4 are getting new video masters too. But I'm sure those wires will look awesome in glorious 1080p. ;D ......

I wish SMIII would have been cleaned up Based on what I am now seeing, the theatricals of 1-4 all are getting new HD masters. Only S2 TRDC and SR will be the same as before. Also, all of the films will have 5.1 DTS, except S4 which be DTS 2.0. Apparently,STM will have 5.1(yay!), and the 2.0 will be available as a secondary track.

Ah, heres a question though, and it could end up a bit of a snafu......
There were 2 releases of SR on Blu. Which will they include?
Jim?

There were two releases for SR, and both had flaws. Original - Lossy sound mix & standard def deleted scenes (though the box says HD, and the HD-DVD had the deleted scenes in HD) Re-release - PCM and Dolby TrueHD (lossless) audio mixes, but still with SD deleted scenes. The question is...will they give us the deleted scenes in HD this time?

Great, thanks! Superman will also include DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0, possibly as a secondary track. Lossless audio for the 1978 mix, awesome. I can forgive that it's stereo and not 5.1. For what I was hoping for, this is a great set. I suppose the only "would be nice" item left is HD deleted scenes for all movies. Not a chance though...

Actually that site seems to inndicate that STM WILL have 5.1, but the 2.0 is just going to be offered as an optional track. Or did I read that wrong?

No, that's right. That's exactly how the DVD was.

i'm pleased with it all, the packaging is sharp, and the last bit of SR footage wil be nice.
so, in 5-10 years when the next format dominates maybe we'll get ALL the footage from ALL the flicks.... ;D

This could be really good. I hope WB brings the goods. What I'd like to see: - New 4K-derived master of STM (the old one was OK for 2006, but technology has improved a lot since then) - Theatrical cuts of STM and S2 - Lossless audio for all movies and cuts- All deleted scenes for S2, and all previously released deleted scenes presented in full widescreen or HD (S3's scenes were 4x3, Souffle was 4x3 widescreen) - Cleaned up S4 deleted scenes, hopefully without the temp music - More Superman Returns deleted scenes, including Return of Krypton- Bryan Singer commentary for SR (yeah right) 4 out of 7 ain't bad.

I just checked and Amazon does not have this set up for pre-order yet. Anyone have any idea how soon they will have it up for pre-order?
Also, if I pre-order and want to make sure I receive it on release day, what is the best shipment method to choose?

Guys, I wouldn't get your hopes up about the original SR opening ... it may be of the originally planned opening credits and not the return to Krypton scene.

Nay, I think was a comic book sequence showing what happened in STM, kinda. No?

how much of a difference in sound can we expect with this new release and the original Blu Ray release of STM?
I'm a bit behind on the whole lossless terminology.

Agreed.
Otherwise, I'd assume that they'd make a much bigger deal about announcing that part of it in their ads, if it was that scene, like the 'now with the never-before-seen Brando scenes' marketing bitz they did for the RDC.

Maybe it's both...
I would suggest buying it from the store.
