I still love the Reeve films, but I find myself losing interest in Superman as a whole.
I find Batman more interesting lately. Is is because Batman movies and Batman in general is handled better? Or because Batman has a badass videogame? Or he simply has better trade paperbacks?
I'm totally more interested in the new Bat film than Superman. What the he'll is wrong with me?

There's nothing wrong with you, it happens. Especially with all the crap that's happened.

No, it's not just you. With competent guys like Nolan and seemingly competent directors helming Marvel movies, there's no time to think about Snyderman, and I lost interest in Smallville years ago.
Despite WB seeming to care little about Superman lately, it is getting a much better Blu-ray release than Star Wars is. Weird huh?

All the time waiting for WB to make decisions for new Superman films would kill the enthusiasm for Superman out of anyone. Can't blame you.

yeah, I also lost my enthusiasm for the character, but I still love him. He is still #1 to me. I don't think that will ever change. He's just unforgettable.

Not just you Enrique. Nothing has happened for 5 years now (for me anyway, I don't watch SV and don't read the comic books). It sucks, but I anticipate the new Bat film more too.
I don't have a lot of hope that the character will reach those dizzying heights again either. Chimps are in charge of the characters now, we need another lion like Donner but that's unlikely to happen.

Same thing happened to me, although for me in particular, I associate it with watching the movies too much when I got them on DVD. I haven't watched a superman movie in over a year, and I still feel if I were to watch one that I may get bored.
It's also true that there hasn't been anything new in 5yrs that really has sparked interest to the character, which probably doesn't help.
Hopefully the new blu-ray set will freshen things up a bit again, maybe.

It's a cyclical thing. There's simply more good Batman product out there right now. More good comics currently being published, Bats' current film-franchise is handily the most consistent and high quality superhero franchise we've ever seen, someone finally figured out how to make a great video game with him, etc.
When awesome Superman stuff comes out (like Morrison's All Star Superman or Johns' Secret Origin) it reminds me why Supes is historically my number 1, and I get all excited again, but then I get distracted by other things.

I agree with part of this- but I think it's also part of the 'hit' ratio as well of amount of Superman stories available- to- degree of qualty in those stories.
You might get a great Geoff Johns' Superman storyline on the comic store shelves, but it's alongside three or four other mediocre Superman comics as well.
At the same time that Superman Returns came out (regardless how you felt about it), you also had the exposure of Superman (sortof) on television as well.
The one good thing about Star Wars - is that there is at least one person in charge of it all, who knows how to manipulate supply/demand and TRIES for a high level of quality. (Thus, why there isn't a bazillion bad Star Wars prequels which could dwindle in demand, but only three bad ones in high demand)
With Superman- imo it's too many cooks, with mostly mediocre results. So long as DC insists on multiple Superman books under multiple writers monthly..... hard to feel that the books have anything special to them at all...

Great things from 2006:
SR soundtrack; George Reeves DVDs, That awesome Superman documentary ("look, up in the sky?"). Infact, that whole 14 disk DVD set was awesome. I had it delivered to work and couldn't concentrate all day. Just had to get home and go through it
Of major interest that turned out disappointing: SR, S2DC, SIV deleted scenes
My personal and professional life was going well at that time, turned 30, met the woman, met you guys in Milton Keynes, the woman moved in with me.
Great year for me and I'm glad that was the "Year of Superman". I do have many fond memories. Can't believe its now been 5 years.

The best parts of the "Year of Superman" were Casino Royale and Rocky Balboa.

Am I the only person here whose interest in the character is solely limited to the Reeve films?
I've never been impressed with any other interpretation. Due to childhood nostalgia I probably never will.

my anxiety levels and feelings of dread/hope have an ebb and flow.

People grew up with his doc, and had no interest once he left

Batman just doesn't really do it for me. never has. I don't hate him either, I'm just mostly indiferent.
TB was the first Doctor I ever saw. Loved him, but I've liked others a lot too (Eccleston, Tennant).

The coolest Superman t-shirt I've ever seen is the one Billy Dee Williams wore in Nighthawks. Of course that could be because it's Billy Dee Williams wearing it, but I love the black with Reeve era logo. I would pay good money to have an exact replica.
