Great stuff, Mav.
I haven't been to Metropolis in years since I moved to Idaho, but I made a pilgrimage every few years due to the short trip from north Alabama. Always a great experience, though I've never been to a celebration. Must put that on the bucket list.
Thank you for sharing.

That's one heck of a reaction you got from him, Mav. Really fucking awesome. I think you almost got him to cry, to be honest. And look how happy Sam is, too.

I just realised that I didn't reply to your report Mav.
That was so great. Routh really is a class act. Those are such great memories to come away with.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I've gotta go to one of these...Mav, well done. Great pics!!! Great to hear you had an awesome time, Mav. Love what it says on Brandon's shirt. ;D Not much to say, other than EPIC. man, that was wonderful! thanks for sharing. Same here!!! thanks for the report and pics, maverick. much appreciated! Great stuff, Mav. Thank you for sharing. two words FUCKIN AWESOME MAV!!! (and i cant count!) I just realised that I didn't reply to your report Mav. That was so great. Routh really is a class act. Those are such great memories to come away with. You are most welcome fellas! I cant think of anyone I'd rather share this kinda stuff with. heck, I cant think of anyone else who would give a shit ;D ;D ;D The whole time I was thinking shit like "this member of the board would dig this....this other member of the board would dig that." Glad you guys liked the report. Thanks for reading such a long winded recounting ;D OK to be long-winded. For those who can't be there, this the only & closest way we can get to experiencing the celebration & meeting Brandon. Of course, nothing beats the real deal. I envy you Mav but am also happy you get to experience it first hand & share with us. I guess Brandon can tell you're not the average Supes fan. Did u talk to him about this board? Does he know & has he visited here? I wanted badly to tell him, but by the time I got 3 autographs & pics & had a small chat with him, the ushers were moving us along, so, all I got to mention was the name of the site & board & what we were about, but I'm sure he heard that kinda thing all day from other fans with boards & such. I was more interested in letting him know that there is alot of love for his Superman & that he did the character justice. Mav, I choked up slightly. So did I. Wait......does this make us Sam & Frodo? So jealous but so happy for you Mav! Thanks for speaking for all the fans of the film. GREAT stuff!! Hey, it needed to be said Awesome stuff, Mav. I'm so glad Routh was out there circulating with fans, receiving some accolades in person. We differ in our opinion on Superman Returns, but I had zero problems with Routh's performance. Or Huntington's, for that matter. Hopefully the love from the fans will ease the hurt over not getting another shot at Superman on the big screen. I doubt it, but I wanted him to know that lots of folks know the truth. Hopefully, the crowd's response showed him that. And yeah, I looked at the website for the Super Museum the other day. Incredibly impressive collection. I don't know how they scored so many artifacts from the productions, but they definitely did a great job. Lots of important props and costumes there. i had NO IDEA the museum was that amazing. i MUST go there. that museum. that is absolutely amazing. the curator guy has sure done one fuck of a job on that thing. You know, it was a trade off. It was horribly organized. Should have been a little more classy with real name plates instead of notes with sharpies & some of the stuff was randomly placed, (Like comic stuff mixed with movie props etc.....) & it was cramped. If the place were someplace like New York, it would get a serious treatment. However, in New York, you would never be able to walk right up & touch the stuff & they might not even let you take pictures. The Rock Hall of Fame doesn't. So, with everything gained, something is lost, yadda yadda. So, even though its a bit cluttery & it needs me to organize it ;D , it was still amazing to see. Krypton's sun dropped my fucking jaw. Still cant get over that one. Mav...that was all kinds of awesome! Although I am certainly not a Superman Returns lover (my reasons have nothing to do with Routh), I thought it was really cool to see his reaction to your obvious heart-felt comments and it was really cool to see him treat you so warmly. Congrats and thanks for sharing! Aye. The impression I came away with (And I'm a pretty good & quick judge of character) is that he is a pure gentleman who is generous with his time & is a really cool guy who loves, knows & respects the character. I just wanted him to know that WE know that. MAV, with your permission, can I share one of those Routh pictures (with the 'I liked film before it was digital' shirt) on Facebook? I know a few people who'd get a kick out of that. Share anything you'd like from this post my friend MAV.... That post was truly EPIC. You know I feel the same way about SR as you do, man what you said was so great!! No doubt Brandon appreciated it. Thanks man! So happy you got to meet him, woo hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)and your niece is adorable too. great times. Gazer, you're my #1 SR soldier & I really wish ya could have been there. My niece is a world of fun. It was such a great added layer having her around & instilling even more Super-ness in the next generation ;D just checked out the recap, wow. that looked like a blast. routh hasn't aged a day since SR and is still in perfect shape. makes me wish he was still superman. Don't get me started ;D ;D ;D WOW. Like everyone has said, thanks SO MUCH for all the detail in the report & photos- you weren't long-winded at all, I ate up the whole experience. (Should send this report to Jim Bowers and Gandalf as well, if they're not already aware of it!) Slightly teared up as well that you were able to share with Brandon & Sam the appreciation for Superman Returns--- Like ShinyMarble3000 said, hopefully the love of the fans ease the HORRIBLE treatment that they got from both WB and factions of the internet over their work. And reading that your words really struck them, was really moving & bittersweet. On one hand, it opened up old wounds over feeling like the filmmakers and cast got dumped on/get dumped on for trying to make something really worthwhile from the heart in SR, only to not have a chance for a sequel whatsoever- On the other hand, letting these guys know that their work wasn't only appreciated, but will be treasured over time - was awesome to read. If you didn't say it at that convention, it didn't sound like it was going to be said. Bravo, too, for being so articulate in sending the message. I've been at conventions, feeling like I wouldn't fumble asking this or that question of an artist whose work I'd admired- only to find my voice disappearing or knees turning to jelly. So......yeah, your actions there I'm SURE was the highlight of the entire trip for them. Thank god someone was able to tell these guys properly what good work they did in SR in person, and before a crowd, with all the irritating undeserved bashing they get on the net. BRAVO, Mav! Great work, man! Great work!!! CAM, I thought of ya a couple times while I was there dude. And trust me, at the end of my lil speech when I finally looked up & Brandon was looking dead at me with gratitude, my knees did turn to jelly. The mic started shaking in my hand & I handed it back to the host damned quick before anyone noticed. ;D ;D ;D I wish I could go there, maybe someday... Mav, I am thrilled you gave us excellent pictures of all the stuff there, and I agree it is quite emotional seeing Clark's clothes from SIV that Reeve wore. I feel emotional just seeing them from an image, so I can't imagine what it must feel like to be right there with them. Kinda like one of the last things Reeve wore in a Superman movie.. Ya know, that's EXACTLY what I was thinking when I saw them! It's always nice to hear how approachable and nice Brandon is to his fans. Some actors are assholes once they get their taste of fame, but Brandon has always kept very humble throughout. It is sad that he never really got chance to do more with the role like Reeve, and that so many things were out of his control in SR. He was EXTREMELY nice & patient with all the fans. Very Supermanish, one might say. That guy's Evil Superman costume was coool. You did tell him though that there is only one Evil Superman, right?! No, but I did think to myself: Evil Supes would shit his pants if he saw this ;D Its been a long time since I been here. Was not sure if my password would still work... I can not express enough how much I enjoyed your report MAV! I went to the Celebration almost every year through out the 90s. But life changes and lack of interest in the guests ( I am not a Smallville fan at all!) have made it hard to justify a return yet. But this was a year I would have gone if I could have. But before Brandon's appearance was announced I had planned a trip to Vegas. I want to thank you for your great comments to Brandon. Its exactly what I would have wanted to say! Wow man, thanks for the kind words! I'm glad ya dug it. And WELCOME BACK! That's one heck of a reaction you got from him, Mav. Really fucking awesome. I think you almost got him to cry, to be honest. And look how happy Sam is, too. Yeah, when I looked up at him & he did that little Heart gesture at me, I got a lil weak kneed. The guy deserved to hear those things & he deserved that audience reaction. I'm just glad I could be a part of it in some way. Its not often you get to meet an idol, speak your heart & have people cheer in agreement for them, and get movie props signed. Quite a special time to me. Seriously, I really enjoy your detailed posts on events. It's so on point that I feel like I'm experiencing it with you. Excellent stuff. To be dead honest, that's what I was going for. Glad it works Mav, I must say, I read your post the night you put it up, on my iphone. Couldn't really look at the pictures at the time, but reading the details and everything that you wrote, made me feel like I was there experiencing it too. That post was Awesome on EPIC Proportions. Then when I got to see the pics, I read the post again and looked at everything, from the little girl that couldn't crack a smile cause she was so in shock at meeting Superman, to meeting Routh and the things that were said, touched my heart, and brought a tear to my eye. Wow dude! I cant ask for a more heartfelt response than that! I'm truly glad you enjoyed it so much! What I said to Brandon needed to be said. And it was cool that I got to say it in agreeable company. And yeah, my niece meeting Superman is something I could never forget. It was really something to watch. ;D Absolutely awesome, Mav. Hopefully I can get there next year, and hopefully Brandon will be there too, I'd love to meet him. If he came again, I'd be right there with ya Bro. Since we are always saying you should be Zod, you should have had a pic of Brandon kneeling before you ;D GodDAMMIT, why the fuck did I not think of that? He TOTALLY would have done that. That would have rocked so hard! I'm an idiot. ;D Seriously fellas, thanks for the words & I'm glad yall enjoyed the report.
