OR (and this would be brilliant), what if we aren't getting Krypton at ALL in the new movie? What if this movie starts off with Cavill as an already 23-25 year old Clark, and we don't see ANYTHING prior to that. Yea i thinks thats how they will do it... well, diane lane did say that it would cover "everything..from infancy on.."

Hey everyone,
FYI I'm attending this event. I'm probably the closest person from this board that can attend. Probably a 3-4 hr drive and it won't cost a lot. Plus, I have never had the chance to see anything before Superman III on the big screen so to have the director there and hear the news. Worth it.
And as I'll have my camera and my iPhone with Twitter, I could be persuaded to take pics, send them to someone to post on here somewhere if someone wants to try to coordinate this with me

Oh, man. You wouldn't be able to videotape (or audiorecord) the Donner Q&A by any chance, would you? *sigh*

audio recording.....hmmm.....welllllllll....if I can get a digital audio recorder I probably could. That being said, I have no idea where things will be set up in terms of speakers, where I'll be in the audience etc etc so I can certainly try to for Donner and for the announcement as well since my ticket covers that little "presser" too
I'm gonna really start getting my "twitter" act together cause I use it and post very rarely but I can get up to speed to post pics etc with the iPhone I can give quicker updates as well

And that also being said in terms of questions to ask Donner. Now I don't think I will be able to get up to ask questions lest my seat be taken (attending this solo) but there's a link I saw when you're trying to buy tickets to someone's e-mail address so that if you want the director to answer any questions....maybe you guys can post questions to him and get them answered. I'll try to find the link and post it here Mavcon Update from my receipt for the show..... "If you would like to suggest a question for Geoff Boucher to ask the director(s) on the night(s) you are attending, feel free to submit your suggestion at herocomplexquestions@latimes.com" And if you're going to ask him questions, CC them to me so I can keep an ear out for them and try to make sure it's audible on the audio recording. I think I already have an older recorder so I should be able to get audio as long as I'm not stuck in the back but I'm getting there EXTREMELY early for the Superman portion. The great thing I just remembered....I'm going to the Star Trek one the day before so I should know where everything is, how big of a theater it is, etc etc so hopefully I have a really good chance to get audio for you guys 2nd update: I just e-mailed a question in for my personal knowledge. So you can take one like this off the list. I'm asking Mr. Donner what his thoughts were about Superman Returns, meaning how he felt seeing an homage to his work, what he thought of Routh portraying his version of Clark and Superman and it being like Reeve in many ways, and if he has been consulted in the past or would he be open as a consultant on future Superman movies including the reboot Seriously...if I can actually go up and ask a question though....Not sure which one I'll ask but at the end I swear I'll find a way to ask him for his name placard and if he can sign it for me oh...and if a Goonies Sequel will ever happen LOL

That would be cool! It's also cool that Donner feels good enough about STM still to attend these things. It's a pity, though, that many of these events never hit youtube! *sigh*

ok, so i think a promo of cavill as supes is a given. it's no brilliant speculation, it's probably too obvious.
but look, they are what? a month from filming?
we still need a Jor-El and a Luthor!
i'm calling it: HUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGE casting announcement. i bet nolan or snyder make a 'surprise" visit to this and introduce or announce someone BIG for Jor / luthor.
i WON'T be surprised if daniel day or viggo is in it. it won;t surprise me at. all. (i'd take jon hamm)

I personally hope they're announcing that Snyder is out and Donner is in. That Johns is next Mank.
That Routh is back.
That the next film won't be titled Transformers 4: Man of Steel.

Hey all, probably won't be doing an audio recording. . . . . . . . . . . . . . Most likely getting a camcorder (HD) I found for $150 as opposed to $40 for a decent audio recorder Mavcon Once I get this taken care of, I will post a YouTube of the event and if it gets taken down I'll put the whole video up for everyone to be able to download for themselves on megaupload regardless

In a perfect world........ Well, that would all be a bombsheck announcement, would it not? It's not a bombsheck to have a continuity change. It's not a bombsheck to release a picture of Cavill as Superman...I mean, we know that's going to happen eventually. A bombsheck to me, is that DC is going to lose the rights to Superman. A bombsheck would be they're scrapping Snyder's film for another take (cough, cough...Remember Tim Burton...Nicolas Cage?)

and i was only half kidding! May 28, 2011: Could Superman Be Split in Two?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- With recent developments in the ongoing legal battle over the rights to Superman, Variety.com looks into the possibility that ownership of Superman could be split into two separate camps... DC Comics and the heirs of Siegel and Shuster.
The Siegel and Shuster estates could wind up owning some parts of the Superman story while DC Comics owns others. The estates could get Superman's blue leotard, red cape and boots, plus an ability to leap tall buildings while DC retains villains like Lex Luthor plus Superman's ability to fly. The question is: Could each party proceed with a subsequent project without the other's involvement?
In theory, come 2013 auds could see two parallel versions of the Man of Steel ramp up. In practice, that looks pretty unworkable.
Using a ruling from Neil Gaiman's suit against Todd McFarlane over the rights to Spawn, Anthony Cheng from the Columbia Journal of the Law & the Arts posits that one way to settle the Superman dispute would be to "split the character in two - a 1938 Superman and a Modern Superman - and allow both sides to create new works based on their versions". However, it's hoped that both sides of this battle can come to some kind of agreement to main one Man of Steel going forward.
well, as i said, it worked for james bond... i actually wouldn't mind this AT ALL- so long as both were called "superman". a "primitive" action #1 superman and a fleshed-out mythos superman owned by DC.

Yeah, both sides are trying to screw each other over so no one makes any money. You need all those elements together, that makes Superman who he is.

If true, this all sounds like one giant clusterfucked ball of fail, to me. i'd take action #1, nothing else- i'd take it and run. it's about HIM. the ever-recycled ret-conned trappings... i love 'em, but i could actually wrap my mind around action 1 and evolve from there... thats NEW territory, and we havent had that at DC (or mrvel) for decades.

I wonder if this is causing the 'news blackout' for "Man of Steel"....maybe the plug is being pulled/ things going into limbo again? What a mess.... pity WB/DC couldn't just do the right thing in the first place and keep the family happy....

If they are smart they will learn to work together or else there is serious danger of both parties losing out

imagine marvel buying superman? Something like that was discussed when Marvel was in bankruptcy...if things didn't get resolved (and for a time, it didn't look like it was going to happen), then Marvel was going to sell off characters. I imagine like Charlton did.

WB/DC had carte blanche for Superman for many decades..... and in that time, what percentage of the comics/movies/tv shows were actually considered special/memorable???
Maybe new ownership/management wouldn't be a bad thing necessarily...
