Anyone notice the ring was missing from Green Lantern in that new artwork? Jim Lee did draw it in but the inker (Scott Williams) didn't paint it. Maybe he screwed up the trunks on Supes too?

Maybe he screwed up the trunks on Supes too? Maybe not. He's way in the back with WW & GL obscuring him. Done on purpose as his new look will not sit well with fans? DC's way of slowing easing up the new look to fans? Even his hair is different. No splitcurl, just wavy all around. I may be wrong coz the pic is small

Didn't they revert back to 0 in the mid 90's? Or what that only some titles?
Didn't X-Men pull this same idea off successfully around 92 or so?

That was for Zero Hour, when all the other universes started colliding. It was stupid.

So all the titles are being...yaaaaaaawn...rebooted.
Great. So we get to see Krypton explode and Bruce Wayne's family get killed for the umpteenth time.
Pass.

God I love Jurgen's work. He reeks of 90's style but I can't get enough. Him and Breeding were one of the all time great teams. At least he is back on Booster, and him and Rapund consistently do an outstanding job. jurgens and thibert were cooler looking (imo) than jurgens and breeding.

first:
a year form now the only "open letter" than dan didio will be writing wil lbe his reume'
second:
i am not disappointed in jim lee. his heyday was at marvel, he jumped th eshark at image and has coasted along as a formulaic workhorse at DC. no, what i am pissed at is geoff johns goddamit. for focks sake, the ink is still wet on "brightestday". we havent even wrapped johns own personal makepver of the entire DCU. between his superman and green lantern work, with the return of batman the DCU JUST GOT (nearly) DONE REBOOTING!!
you can't tell me there isn;t some corporate baloney going on here.
third- DC comics had announced a 'retro" line only just a few weeks ago- a line featuring the A-list characters, as they were depicted mid-70's. now, IF, they keep their word then i give NO sh*t about this epic-fail "heroes reborn" debacle.
finally (for now)
what worries me is that geoff johns has stated that the "look" of superman comics will match snyderman.
THAT. that is scary.
now, if you need me i will be fuming in my beer.

June 2, 2011: Dan DiDio's Open Letter to Comic Book Fans
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DC Comics co-publisher Dan DiDio posted the following open letter to DC Comics fans and readers via Facebook...
Folks, as you wonder and wait for the new series announcements to unfold, I just wanted to let you know that we are spending an extraordinary amount of time and energy to reinvigorate our line of characters and bring the best books possible for the widest audience possible. Sorry if anyone is feeling disenfranchised, especially since that's not the intent. Quite the opposite, we are trying to create a place and story where older fans can point for new fans to start, whether in periodical, graphic novel or digital. A place where everyone can share in the excitement of the DC Universe. As the saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, and there are a lot of great things that don't need fixing. But we're also saying that we will not stand idly by and let series run on inertia and let the industry fade around us. All of us here at DC love the form and the characters way too much for that.
Tomorrow we begin filling you in on all the excitement we have planned, plenty of real news to talk about and it's time for everyone to join in the fun.
best, DD
We'll let you know what further announcements DC Comics makes as the day progresses.

imagine if ANY executive, any man in any case pulled a stunt like this and tried to write a letter to make the victims happy about it?
imagine a man who wrote:
"an open letter, to my soon-to-be-ex-wife"
dear sweetie-pie,
by now you have heard, that i have left you and i've moved in with another woman. she is younger, overtly sexy and completely shallow. you see, i was trying to make MY view of our marriage as exciting as possible. sure, we've had some good times- but i just didn't want to let things get dull. i certainly hope you don't feel abandoned or betrayed. that's the opposite of what i intended! see, i found a woman who...kind of looks like you. i had a picture of you and found another gal- younger, a bit of a floozey, who sort of resembles you. a bit. in the face. i mean, if someone were retarded and blind-folded at night they might think you look like her. the purse is about the same. just imagine yourself, but with fake b**bs ( raised collars) and completely vapid. sure, i've had affairs(reboots) with other younger women before, and yeah, the relationships never worked. and yes, you've always been loyal and supportive. and thats why you should be glad! i'm trying to create a ciscumstance where an older wife can hook up with a younger wife. if it ain't broke, don't fix it- so i'll be counting on you to be supportive of this new exciting time for me!
tomorow, i'll be filling you in on all the exciting things me and my new girlfriend will be doing, lots of pictures of our travels and wild romps, and plenty of oppurtunity for you to join the fun.
sincerely, oblivious lout

Jor, if you don't email that to DC, or put it on their official message board, or put it on the facebook page of the tool who posted it, I will never forgive you.

ok, brace yourself for a shock! it COULD be, again, once more, another episode of ...."bait and switch". remember the whole "citizenship", where they leaked ONE panel out of context specifically TO OFFEND, and then they pulled back and softened it after the outcry? well heres a link : twitpic.com/561978it is being asserted, that didio is half-truthing it when he says the "entire" DCU is getting a reboot. according to this, ALL of the new line (the "dc ultimates") is a new earth2. the core dcu, as it is, remains, and they want a full line of comics devoted to the 'earth2" versions. IF that is the case then we all breath sigh of relief. IF they keep the core titles ( since several new titles {supeboy/batman dark knight/batman international} JUST started) and want to ADD an earth2 line... that's fine. IF they keep thier word about the retro line, then i will be at ease. but dammit- who's in charge of PR? who thinks it's good strategy to piss off the base, then say "just kidding" ? and who thinks ADDING 52 titles is feasable?

Sounds like they got wind of the negative feedback and are rethinging their announcement.
NO WAY they can support 52 new titles. NO WAY.
And why is Black Canary's head so big?

I heard in a comic podcast that I listen to that dc is currently putting out 57 titles a month. So 52 is actually a step down.

I heard in a comic podcast that I listen to that dc is currently putting out 57 titles a month. So 52 is actually a step down. That's not what he's saying...if Didio is backtracking and saying that this is going to be a new "Earth-2" (DC Ultimates) universe and not a true reboot...they will be publishing 52 NEW titles...109 total. Keeping the core titles and adding the 'reboots'. Not a chance.

just listened to 'coast-to-coast a.m." over the night. the guest host was interviewing the penciller for the core- BATMAN title, and he confirmed that BATMAN (volume 1) will end, he is drawing the last issue. then 52 titles start at #1. i just don't see it. maybe, if it's a summer-thing, like 'age of apocalypse" that marvel did in the x-men some years ago. (that was actually pretty interesting). but that was only the x-men books, and it was temporary. i don't see EVERY title/character being reinvented at once.

Reboots left, right and centre. Lazy and boring. I couldn't be more disinterested.

Agreed. When DC comics did "Crisis on Infinite Earths", it was a 'REAL' event, because it was something daring at that time to make a storyline that would 'wipe the slate clean' (for the most part) and start fresh with certain rebooted major titles (Superman & Wonder Woman being the main ones)--- and - it was somewhat unprecedented- and - as the co-writer/editor of that series said, it WASN'T going to be a regular thing. But- (as even the introduction to the hardback collected version states), the problem was that the crossover event/reboot thing made so much money for the company, it became a somewhat regular event. Just like you said Ye5man...... at this point- who cares? If the creators don't have long-term investment in their stories, why should readers? (*though it's probably more accurate to say publishers and editorial staff)
