As usual- very cool- and SUBTLE!!! I keep rewatching this and trying to figure out how you were able to get the timing to matchup and the other fx. I didn't mind the 'stopping and landing' from the theatrical, but the motion definitely looks smoother from what you did. Cool stuff!

Here's a full list just so you know what was done.
Track motion of the shot and apply to a null layer. stablize motion of shot. Roto Superman from and remove from shot, patch for a clean background plate. Add Superman back in and correct flight motion. Pre-compose everything and parent to null to restore the original motion.

Thanks Booshman! Your work inspired me to try out another experiment... hope the amount of clips coming out means that your cut is 'full throttle' to getting finished!

Got some big hurdles out the way but there is still so much to do. No idea when it might be done. They say that the best special fx are ones you don't even notice until afterwards- (because it's so well done it didn't catch the eye presumably)- I viewed the clip at first and noticed the fountains moving but not the removal of the base of the Flag at first-- great job! Pity that the powers that be didn't want to bring E.G. Marshall back for a quick reaction shot- I guess it wasn't that necessary but to mirror STM's ending, it might have been nice....

Interesting choices! They sound and look smooth- I generally feel like anything put together by Donner & Baird is 'untouchable' - but the removal of the kick really does raise the cruelty level with Ursa and the removal of the 'second' bounce on the ground of the astronaut is smoother! Cool as always!

The kick always looked janky to me, I'm surprised they left it in the Donner Cut.

The kick always looked janky to me, I'm surprised they left it in the Donner Cut. It did always look like part of it was sped up- but I could see how they wanted to give each of the villains a little 'signature' piece- Ursa with the kicks (followed up in the White house bit), Zod with his soft-spoken cruelty, (until his voice got amplified by Lester), and Non with his crushing things on a large scale (originally followed up by his crushing the sheriff's car with sheriff inside scripted but not shot by Donner). I was always kind of annoyed that WB's Alexander movie got 3-4 re=edits for dvd, but was initially a flop - but Superman 2 which was a blockbuster at the time and has tons of fans, gets only one official 're-do'.... I know that the Brando estate got a chunk of the budget, but.... it would have been nice for this to have gotten another pass... I guess at least we're lucky that we got a slight variation with the Vudu version...
