I'm actually glad That Boosh has gone this route for the intro credits instead for several reasons. Firstly, I've seen about 100 different videos of people trying to re-do the STM credits, and while many come close (some even better than what Thau gave us in the DC), none have ever gotten it 100%. Not even SR. So rather than have to re-do the entire credits from scratch, it's better to just stick with what we're all familiar with anyway. Secondly, this makes the process of getting it done a lot quicker. Thirdly, the S2 credits have grown on me, as cheaply as they were done back then. Also, considering those were the end credits font for STM, I'm more open to them now.
Sure it sucks losing Brando as a MAIN credit, but it's worth it IMO.

I'm sure they cost about the same as the STM credits as they were done by the same people. They slide across the screen rather than fly, that's all. Nice to have a little variety. I mean, look at the alternative....Superman III's completely illegible titles. The Superman II credit slowly roaring from the top of the screen was a cool effect.

I love SII credits. Superman IV credits were cheap looking to me though.

Yeah, those were very cheap. ;D
They were 4x3 too, and then stretched to 2.35:1, laaaaaaaaaaazy.

Ok, maybe not CHEAP looking, but they just weren't as GRAND as STM's credits. In a way it's for the best though, as we get through the credits faster. Even though its still like 5 minutes long lol. Oh and ATP, the only thing I liked about Thau's laziness and lacking skills was that he DIDN'T create those scenes. So keep bringing up a dead issue that's over 5 years old over and over again. We'll keep ignoring you, while I oh-so subtly tell you what YOU'RE missing...

I'll have to recheck the movie credits on both pics, but I'm pretty sure that it's a different company that did the credits for STM vs. SII. The ones who did STM got some acclaim & had a rather lengthy magazine article written up for them in a sfx magazine- they also did "Ladyhawke" and "Inside Moves" with Donner after- which were also fresh takes on opening credits.
I don't think they were cheap for the time, but I have a hunch it was cheaper than the STM ones (or maybe the guys from that company also wanted to stick with Donner as well- who knows? They definitely did a few of his other films afterwards), though.
Ironic that nowadays, it can (mostly) be done on a home computer.

No, it was still Greenberg or whatever on S2.

Ah. Ok, I stand (or sit) corrected. I am suprised though. The credits for SII LOOK cheaper to me than their work on STM and the other Donner films. Wonder who made the call to make them look different than STM's (given that they did choose to have the same theme music)....

I honestly think they went with smaller lettering with the words flying off to the sides so we could get more than 1 or 2 names at a time. Had they not gone with the recap scenes, maybe they would've did it the same as STM. Again, as it stands, I've made peace with theatrical S2 opening. I'll take less impressive font/size over derivative titles.

Adding that Brando credit was PERFECT. It fooled my brother and he didn't notice that it was added. I really think he should be credited at the beginning, but either way, it works. Will there be a similar edit for Donner's credit?

Will there be a similar edit for Donner's credit? I'd imagine it'd be easiest to simply use the Donner credit that appears first in the end credits of STM since it's the exact same font/size as S2's opening credits. So my thoughts would be YES lol.

Hopefully it won't be too big of a pain in the ass to create the "Directed by Richard Donner" credit with both sources, but there still would be a need some adjustments, since it's all on one line for the "A Richard Donner Film" credit before the "S" shows up. Speaking of that, will the "S" from Lester's cut be kept?

Yeah the original Superman 2 \S/ will be kept. Here's an alternative Brando credit with "AND" added in. vimeo.com/33956335

Terence Stamp features in the "WITH" section of the credits. So it's ... and Marlon Brando, With... and Terence Stamp.

Are you going to keep the "A Richard Donner Film" credit or are you going to create a new "Directed by Richard Donner" credit, like the "And Marlon Brando" credit?

Cheers MJD!
Kadman. I might do a directors credit, but if I do I think it'll be a joint credit for Donner and Lester.

1. Not too crazy about all the fades on our journey to the krypton dome. One moment we're approaching Krypton city, next we're going the other way. Plus I've never cared for the mirrored shots of dome. With the red sun approach sped up, along with all the changes in where we are (because of all the fades) it's too much to keep up with. Any chance you can keep this sequence a little tighter? (TBH, this is why I said remove the red/blue "matter" in space, and just go right to the red sun. You save time and have less need for speeding up the footage and fading over and over).
2. Glad to see you switch from DC recap to Theatrical recap when the dome begins to open. For whatever reason, I simply HATE that noise that Thau put there for the moment the PZ "catches" them.
3. Was a little disappointed that you didn't replace the theatrical shots of the Brando "hand double' with some actual shots of him, but no big deal really.
4. You did a very good job of synching the music with certain "beats" in the shots that you used. I always love little touches like that.
5. And of course, I ESPECIALLY love what you did there at the end. Sure it sucks losing the school-bus rescue, but the narrative of the sequence flows perfectly. The look on Supes face, as well as us (the audience) knowing what's gonna happen next, gives it an ominous tone, and I REALLY like how you did that.
Very nice work Boosh!! Happy Holidays to you as well!!

Happy Holidays to you as well!! 1. I agree here. I thought there were a bit many fades when I watched it back after it rendered. It's sorted now. I reversed TDC approach, so now there are only 2 fades, and the motion moves in the same direction throughout, and this meant I could return the final dome shot to the right way around. 2. Yeah, Thau made some daft choices. I cringe when you see Donner on the behind the scenes of TDC praising the audio mix. 3. I think I can get rid of the first shot of the Brando double, maybe the second too. I'm not really arsed, but as it's been mentioned here and on FE.org I'll see if it's doable without a lot of work. 4. Cheers. The constraints of how much time you have to play with to get the main points across were pretty challenging. Major respect to the original editors, that took a lot of talent to do the theatrical credits, especially dealing with real film. 5. Nice one.

Yes, yes, and YES!!! VERY nice work there Boosh. The new joint credit looks awesome!! Also, by showing Jor-el hitting the buttons on the control panel while Lara puts Kal-el into the ship, it makes better use of the "Lara-only" shot. It implies that Jor-el is busy with one thing while she's busy with another. Like they're in a hurry. Nice touch there, I gotta say.
