The environment is so different from when Ghostbusters 1 & 2 came out, that I don't know how many people would rush to the theatres to see a 3rd one.
I loved the films when they came out, but if the third one was coming out tommorrow, I'd probably wait to rent it.

Steve Johnson sat down with Fearnet to talk about his wonderful 30 year career in the VFX industries. While talking with them he was asked about Tim Burton's Superman Lives project, and more specifically about the suit he was designing for the film.
"Don't start with me on that! I've had it with these things on-line saying 'this suit is probably why the movie didn't get made' and blah blah blah. What people don't understand is pretty straight forward," said Johnson. He went on to explain that the suit that people have seen photos and video of was not the actual suit for the film but was a suit they designed to regenerate Superman with the help of an alien. Said Johnson, "It was never meant to be the actual Superman suit. Superman dies, in Tim Burton's version. He's wrapped around by this alien presence which I would assume someone in the comics came up with. It's a living life form on top of him that brings him back to life. So everybody looked at the suit and said "Jesus, Tim's lost his mind! Steve's doing too much blow!" That wasn't what happened! It was never meant to be the Superman suit. It was an alien wrapped around him. Let's put that on the record for once. Colleen Atwood designed all the Superman suits. We had the real one; we had the black one from the ending. But the one people have seen wasn't meant to be the Superman suit, it was an alien that was regenerating him and it was really that simple. I don't know why all the fans were getting so angry about that. If they were real fans, they would know!"

If they were real fans, they would know!
I don't agree with that. Over the past 12 years little by little info has leaked about the project. Fans had no way of knowing for sure just what exactly Burton was going for with Superman. heck, we still don't. Even the Kevin Smith script that everyone has read wasn't the script Burton was going to film. Just because something was one way in the comics doesn't mean it was going to be that way on film, especially a Tim Burton film based on the comics.

Scumbag Effects Artist: Releases images of unconventional Superman costume without any context or explanation, complains when people point out how unconventional it is.

www.joblo.com/movie-news/check-out-metalocalypse-producers-kickstarter-campaign-for-a-documentary-of-tim-burtons-unfilmed-superman-lives Looks like someone is trying to use Kickstart to get 100,000 bucks to create a documentary on this project. I'm interested in this but I'm not sure I fully support it with my cash. 1. Does this guy have REAL access to anything that hasn't been leaked? In the video he mentions several times "using stuff I've found on the net". If he can get the go ahead to go into the archives of WB then I'm sending money right now. 2. He mentions lots of interviews he plans on getting, but it's not garrenteed. Hopefully he is not just name dropping to raise funds. 3. Is WB going to be cool with this? They own EVERYTHING about this project. If they wanted this story told, they could have done it in 2006 when they were spending tons of money on Superman. What happens if this guy raises the cash and then WB is like "Sorry, we are shutting you down." 4. As much as I would love to see all the stuff from this project. I'm not keen on this guy "recreating" live action sections. He's not Tim Burton, leave that stuff to the what if's. I guess my big fear is that this will end up being an hour of this guy talking over images we have already seen.

I thought someone here was talking bout making a book of WBs failed attempts at making superman movie for 10 years.
I would love to hear the stories behind everything and fond out just what happened in the walls of WB.

Superman vs. Hollywood doesn't have too many shocking revelations, but it's a pretty good read.

"Superman lives" might be the first time a film that does not actually exist became a "cult classic".
Only the superman film franchise....

I'm just shocked it's been 15 years and I've never seen that picture before. Has anyone here?

Hey - I can't cut n paste from this phone- but superman homepage has an article about the superman lives doc- and a never before seen pic of nic cage in surprisingly decent superman costume. Someone post it here.
And the gifs are from a post at comicbookmovie - right click and you'll see the source and maybe find more ( I won't take responsibility if its bad)

Looks like the Clooney Batman suit with the Superman logo added. What's up with the color of the pic? It's strange, not black and white, but not color either. Seems to prove that (as I always suspected) this pic is fake.

Scissors, I think the colors are weird like that cause it looks like it was scanned on an old scanner.

That's actually......not so bad.....
Fuck it, that movie would have been interesting as heck.
Maybe not good.
But I bet a blast to watch.
Oh & get a smaller pic & get rid of the huge one.
It's causing side-scrolling.

Holy crap...that HUGE Cage pic is so good that it MUST be fake, right?
Even I've never seen it. And yes, I'm the guy trying to write the book.

Seems to prove that (as I always suspected) this pic is fake. Been saying the same thing from day one myself. Can't believe some thought it was real. These new Cage picks look decent.

New BTS Images Of Nicholas Cage In Costume As SUPERMAN A couple of new, much clearer, snaps of Cage in a test costume as The Man Of Steel from Tim Burton's planned "Superman Lives" movie have found their way online. This version of the suit would have gone down much better with fans I think. Check em out past the jump.. Mark "RorMachine" Cassidy - 1/28/2013 We have already seen a tonne of images, concept art and test shots from Tim Burton's scrapped "Superman Lives", but I think the following snaps of Nicholas Cage in a previously unseen test suit may be the clearest - and most comic faithful - yet. If anyone has an issue with HC's hairline, look at what you might have had.
The suit doesn't look too offensive, but I'm definitely seeing Nic Cage in a Superman suit, and not Superman. To be fair to the guy though, he probably had the time of his life, knowing what a big fan he is.

I really wish this movie happened. It would have been the B&R of the series but at least we'd have gotten the BB equivalent sooner.
