I think Warners are hurrying this JL attempt. I'd rather see Superman and Batman together in a movie, do something a little different from what Marvel are doing. Have a twosome story.

Latino Review's latest update: latino-review.com/2013/03/03/exclusive-dcu-takeover-huge-developments-justice-league/Bottom line, Nolan is godfathering all the DC properties, and (the big news) Bale will be back as Batman for Justice League and/or World's Finest. They have a good track record when it comes to WB and DC, so this very well may be a legit scoop, and it makes a lot of sense business-wise. I'd be down with it. I'd certainly be more invested seeing Cavill team up with Bale's established Superman than some new guy. Or JGL (the worst option of the three). It'll be very interesting to see how all this plays out. With 2015 getting closer and closer, the good news is we're bound to get some official news in the not too distant future.

Bale's (rumoured) return is a sad, desperate move by WB.

I really don't know if I want to see Bale's Batman in the Justice League. I think I'd rather have a different actor and a different Batman. Maybe a Batman that isn't all black armor and stiff neck. I would love to see a Batman that looks more like the comic book look.
Bale's batman is over, I think. That's another thing, if WB is going to reboot batman, why put bale's bats in justice league in this new DC movie universe. It's dumb.

Fuckin' WB.
Did they even try to get Michael Keaton?

I'm thrilled if we get more Bale as Batman.... I'd be more thriled if it was Routh/Bale---- but that's never going to happen, so this is a nice second choice- and.... after TDKR, I don't have complete trust in Nolan anymore.
Still.... it just guarantees that there'll be SOME elements to the JL movie that I should like. Will see if this even pans out, though....

If audiences weren't so easily confused, they could say that Batman's appearance takes place between TDK & TDKR. That's a 7 year stretch.

I'd be confused. I mean, where would be the story or need for Bale's Batman in TDKR if Superman existed in the Nolanverse.

Good suggestion, MAV. I'd be down with that if this were a one-off, but they're looking to build a new franchise here and setting it in that window paints them into a bit of a corner of story possibiltities. Plus the Bruce Wayne we see in TDKR seems to have been out of comission since TDK; it's hard to image him having teamed up with Superman during the interim years.
Still, there are many ways to play this. It could be that Christian Bale is Batman in this new team-up franchise, and that's all there is to it. Any ties to the previous trilogy would be up for interpretation, therefore not having any impact on the carefully constructed ending of that story. Another is this being a true continuation from the end of TDKR, with Bruce coming out of retirement (again) to save the world on a bigger scale. With John Blake presumably Batman in Gotham, this would "free up" Bruce Wayne's Batman to be a part of the Justice League. Much like Batman, Inc. in which both Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson were Batman simultaneously.
The more I think about this, the more I like it. I always wanted a World's Finest movie before Justice League, and it looks like this is where things might be heading after all. I wasn't crazy about TDKR so I won't feel like continuing the story would "compromise" the Nolan trilogy. And the key to these team ups is a previously-established investment in not only the characters, but the actors who play them. With Bale as Batman with Cavill as Superman (as long as MOS end up being as good as the buzz is indicating) we're really in for something. I'm excited!

Why so down on this, Paul?
Is it because of it continuing the story of TDKR?

Bale being back in a Justice League (or equivalent) movie feels like a bad idea to me. It reminds me of having Kirk in Star Trek Generations.

I don't get that vibe at all, Jim. Besides, don't you trust Chris Nolan more than Rick Berman? Batman is going to be in this and future crossover films regardless. Better it be the established, accepted Bale than anyone else. If things set up right, we'll have an interesting repeat of the DCAU here. First came Batman, redefining the genre to much critical acclaim and long-term success. Then came Superman, while not the game changer Batman was still a great series in its own right with same tone as its predecessor. After that was World's Finest, proving the two could coexist in the same universe. And finally there was Justice League, using the established Batman and Superman to ease us into this much larger DC universe. It worked in animation, let's hope it can work again in live action. Btw, Jett from Batman-On-Film is confirming this report and while nothing's finalized yet...it will be. Jett's pretty well informed of these things and if he's giving it his stamp of approval I've got to believe it's the real deal.

Latino Review is often right, but there's still NOTHING concrete to go on here besides "informed speculation."
I'm not buying it. ESPECIALLY not buying the "Chris Nolan is now in charge of all DC film stuff" part. Bale as Batman sounds plausible, and it makes sense. He could show up, collect the biggest paycheck of his career, and not have to carry the whole movie himself. Why WOULDN'T he want to do it?

I'd be in the same boat you are Val if not for Jett's double confirmation. He sticks to the facts and doesn't post or comment on news unless his sources have more or less confirmed it as well.

Wb wanting nolan/goyer an every masthead is inevitable and obvious.
I see a path where wb could catch up quickly -
- the joss whedon treatment for wonder woman ("From the producer of the dark knight trilogy and the director of avenegers" = 700 mil)
- the "asylum"/ worlds finest scirpt could be modified to take place after tdkr (Some story elements would have to change- but it could be maDe to fit tskr)
- the earlier, better drafts of green lantern could be softbooted and reintroduce gl.
As an aside- I think its entirely smart for wb to put nolan/goyer over this. So far their superhero collaborations (bb/tdk/tdkr) have been enormously successful. If mos is successful that's 4 out of 4 in a row. Kevin feygay that gave you avenegers is the same feygay that gave you shit like x-origins wolverine and elektra. So- on balance I feel nolan is a fair gamble.

I can recall- not too long ago- The very IDEA of sylvester stallone doing a rocky 6 seemed so ridiculous it wasn't worthy of ridicule.
"Rocky balboa" ends of one of the better films in the series.
If christian bale comes back as batman I will keep an open mind
