Well, Aintitcoolnews gave it a moderate thumbs up, plus an explanation of how the budget got slashed at the last minute, a la Superman IV style. www.aintitcool.com/node/49462Trailers are a mixed bag. I've seen great trailers to movies that weren't all that great (Star Trek: Nemesis, Pearl Harbor), and I've seen terrible trailers to movies that I'd end up loving, (SR had really unimpressive trailers- the international one I thought was better, but still) so imo it's not a perfect science to judging a film just by the trailer. Hopefully his agent has something better up his sleeve, barring a last minute replacement (unlikely it seems) with Cavill for Superman. (Makes me wonder- WHO IS Cavill's replacement, if he sprains his ankle/quits/whatever at the last minute? The Watchmen guy or would they reconsider Routh?) (Though, yeah, again, highly unlikely to have a replacement at this point....)

Hopefully his agent has something better up his sleeve He's only got 1 other project in the hopper according to IMDB. A movie coming out this year called "Missing William". It stars nobody.

He and Dean Cain should get together and make a film.
The Curse of Superman continues.

Ouch poor Routhe! I'm not surprised really. I think this film deserves it tbh. I wanted to love it but just couldn't. It's not that bad, imo, but it's very disappointing and yes dull overall. The direction and the script were very weak. Honestly, it should have been a direct to TV thing. As a TV pilot it would have worked better. I think the studio who made this thought they could fool people with this film and make some $ in the process, but it didn't work. General audiences weren't interested, and the geek community knew better. What I don't understand is the harsh criticism some people place on Brandon. It's almost like they hated him, and I don't know why. He was actually terrific in the role. I've read some of the comics, and I can say that he simply embodied the character for me. He was that good. Huntington was also very good as his zombie assistant. Their chemistry and interactions are great. The cinematography, makeup/most of the FX, some of the action were good too. But it could have been SO much better in more talented hands and with the proper budget. Not even Brandon and Sam's charm could have saved this. Despite my little love for this (I don't really hate it, I'm just very disappointed with it), part of me wishes Brandon wasn't part of this, but I liked him in the role so much that well I dunno! LOL Here are some fair and well-written reviews on the film I found interesting ( and surprisingly, some liked it enough): Link with rest of the review here: www.tgdaily.com/entertainment/55667-review-the-limbs-and-crosses-of-dylan-dog-dead-of-nightwww.associatedcontent.com/article/8019995/vampires_werewolves_zombies_and_superman_pg2.html?cat=40brodie8288.tumblr.com/post/5058522312/fast-five-with-a-black-armed-white-manwww.killerfilm.com/film_reviews/read/dylan-dog-dead-of-night-review-72129fourthdayuniverse.com/reports/2011/04/no-groucho-no-problem/insidepulse.com/2011/04/30/dylan-dog-dead-of-night-review/Finally, if you like Brandon (and Sam too) I think this film is worth a watch.. on dvd or whatever.

You know, I've realized that some people out there really enjoyed Dylan Dog. I liked it ok but couldn't really love it. Here are a couple of very positive reviews: www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNKFmmZrBugwww.themfc.com/filmguy450/reviews/7651So maybe some of you could be able to enjoy it too, who knows. I'll say this, I really liked the cinematography, and Brandon (despite what some of the 'profesional' critics may say on the contrary) plays a great Dylan, I really liked his work in this despite the weak script. I know it is still playing in some theaters, I want to watch it again. Maybe I could be able like it a bit more. or not.

and Brandon (despite what some of the 'profesional' critics may say on the contrary) plays a great Dylan, C'mon, you can't cite 'professional' critics in your defense in the quality of Superman Returns but then dismiss them in your defense of Dylan Dog.

I always thought SR deserved more love from the critics in general. For instance, I thought Ebert's review of the film sucked, so no, I've never said that what they say is law. I sometimes agree with them, but other times not so much or at all. That's why I posted those other well-written reviews on the film because I felt they were more fair. I never said the film was amazing or anything. Also, a lot of the reviews on RT come from bloggers from obscure sites. Even you can submit your review if you really wanted to. Anybody can be a 'critic' nowdays, lol. Any way, I was not expecting you to ever watch or like this film, or any film BR is in.

Which is why I detest rottentomatoes.com but that is a website you frequently cite when defending Superman Returns. Well, I've only seen one...SR. I do have Scott Pilgram in the queue in Netflix, though.

Because in that case I think they got it mostly right. I agree with a lot of what they say about DD, but I strongly disagree on some things. I don't think it's a terrible or unwatchable film like some of them say. It's just ok.. I was expecting something a bit better, so I ended up disappointed with it. It could have been so much better in more talented hands and with a bigger budget.

WTF?! WB just bought rottentomatoes.com! I wonder if this means anything for reviews of future WB movies... insidemovies.ew.com/2011/05/04/warner-bros-flixter-rotten-tomatoes/ Warner Bros. acquires Flixter, Rotten Tomatoes by Jeff Labrecque
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has agreed to purchase Flixter, a top movie discovery application for mobile users with over 25 million users per month, and Rotten Tomatoes, a leading website for critical reviews. “Driving the growth of digital ownership is a central, strategic focus for Warner Bros.,” said Kevin Tsujihara, president of Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group, in a statement. “The acquisition of Flixster will allow us to advance that strategy and promote initiatives that will help grow digital ownership.”
In a release, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment specified that both Flixter and Rotten Tomatoes would remain “fully independent. The Flixster team will stay in San Francisco and the Rotten Tomatoes team will continue to work autonomously in Los Angeles.”

Probably means there will be more "David Mannings" singing the praises of WB movies.

Rotten Tomatoes credibility is now zero. Expect at the very least, lighter handling of the WB films. If there's no trace of manipulation, I'd be very suprised. EVERY company that buys out another promises that there won't be any changes....

RottenTomatoes doesn't write reviews though. It's just an aggregate of reviews from approved critics. Now if certain negative reviews are left off of WB films on RT, it won't take long for the critics and users to notice.

Brandon Routh Looks Badass In First Pics From COST OF LIVING www.badassdigest.com/2011/05/19/brandon-routh-looks-badass-in-first-pics-from-cost-of-livingSo he just filmed a short film. He (and Sam Huntington) also said the following in a recent interview when they asked him about Superman.... And Dylan Dog is actually opening wide! Are you guys thinking about possible sequels already? BR: I think we were thinking when we filmed it how fun it would be to explore the story, where it would go. And I think there’s ample room for it to happen. I think it just always depends on box office — as we both know extremely well from another movie that we did together! SH: [Sighs] Abso-lutely! [Sarcastically] Why, whatever could you be referring to? SH: Oh, it’s nothing. It was small… BR: Because even when a movie makes $400 million worldwide, it still doesn’t constitute a sequel. SH: God, it’s so bizarre. When did that realization hit you both, that a Superman Returns sequel wasn’t going to go after all? Was there a big phone call from Bryan Singer or anything? BR: Nope. Never a phone call. SH: No. It just kind of fizzled away. BR: I found out like everyone else… on the internet. SH: Yeah, my wife worked at Warner Bros. so she kind of kept her ear to the tracks a little bit. BR: Right, it wasn’t like we were ignorant to the murmurings that were going around. SH: It’s a bummer, because we poured our hearts into that movie. And it was a cool movie. And it did make quite a bit of money, by any standard. BR: It’s one of those things, you know; we made that movie and we were really happy with it, and it did, in my estimation, pretty well. [Laughs] And you think, “Oh, we’re gonna do a sequel,” because you look at Spider-Man and its sequels, and all this kind of stuff. So we kind of just assumed that that was going to happen. I think with this [Dylan Dog], going forward, we understood the real world aspect of it, how it is. So we’re very hesitant to the proposition. www.movieline.com/2011/04/brandon-routh-and-sam-huntington-talk-dylan-dog-dead-of-night-and-learning-not-to-wait-for-superman.php?page=all
