Ok, so since SIII gave MOS a run for its money and SIV is too.
Let's give poor, old MOS a chance at winning a poll. ANY poll.

Sadly, a close one.
Supergirl had a TERRIBLE script, but some wonderful Jerry Goldsmith music, Helen Slater as Supergirl, and some gorgeous Alan Hume cinematography, and some very sweet scenes with Supergirl flying and discovering her powers.
MOS suffered from both script problems and execution problems. Cavill was great as Superman, and there are some nice scenes, but inconsistently, I felt--- and not enough.
MOS wins imo.... by a hair.

As "bad" as Supergirl is, Helen Slater is hotter than Amy Adams, Hart Bochner has more personality than Henry Cavill, Faye Dunaway is more menacing and powerful than Michael Shannon, and it actually has *JIMMY* Olsen rather than Jenny Olsen. Oh, and uh, it has Peter Cook and Peter O'Toole.
There's more passion in Peter O'Toole's pinkie than the entire MOS cast combined.
And that I can *ZIP ZAP* and I'M GONE!!!!

Supergirl is a pile of wank.
Man of Steel beats it to a bloody pulp, much like Superman beat up mortal Rocky with his super powers in the diner.

Supergirl's credits were more exciting visually than most of MOS.
MOS is like watching an MMA fight. It's interesting if you enjoy the violence, but repetitive and boring if you don't.

Too much violence, I was just home reading Dickens.

Lol! I think I might go with Supergirl. I'm not sure. They both have script problems but Supergirl has her good parts too. I think Slater might be better as Supergirl than Cavill is as Superman. The script held her back less.

In Cavill's defense, Helen Slater was playing Supergirl. Cavill was playing Donnie Darko playing Superman. So it wasn't as if Cavill was playing a real Superman. (And neither was Routh.)

I can't believe they actually considered that crap. Thankfully someone was smart enough to realize how stupid and pointless it was the first place. Yeah I know Jimmy is a minor character but there was no reason to lop his cock off. The movie already had plenty of strong female characters. There were other female character they could pluck from the comics if they wanted another woman at the Daily Planet. It was a prime example of changing things just to change them. But I give Snyder credit for realizing how stupid it was and not going through with it.

Is enrique the new ATP?
HOW many threads/polls to dog the same movie?
Let ATP be ATP. Try.

It definitely separates the Superman fans from the Reeve fangirls. There are people with legitimate disappointment than MOS didn't do it for them. Then there's Reeve fangirls taking extreme joy in bashing the film because it didn't live up to the original in their eyes. All this in spite of it going strong financially

MoS has been out -what? A month? Fifth week?
And already enrique has surpassed ATP with the sheer number of butthurt threads. ATP is probably still a bit ahead with the number of "thau/try/cgi" posts, but not for long.
Its impressive actually. ATP has had over ten years to craft his "please mr thau" and related quips to a fine art. No matter the thread or topic. And He has had 7 years to "SR is crap" the internet to death. But in a scant 5 weeks enrique has made him look like a piker.
We all have our "thing". Jim is the grammar police, I'm all about boobies, kev is the comic, etc etc. So its fine that enrique has a fixation.
But he's already got "you're all pussies". He's got his trademark. Fucks sake. Now he's just being greedy. "You're all pussies, now I'm off to cry at 'TITANIC' cause that's what men do! Pussies! Also- something....something...man of steel...."

What Supergirl mostly had in its favor was Helen Slater and a mostly accurate characterization. It's a pity that Reeve dropped out at the last minute, at least it might have made a bit more sense with Superman involved, but at least he let his image be used in the film (even if only on the poster). It's funny (in a sad way) to watch this and remember Marc McClure's admission after the fact that he was thinking: "What the heck am I even doing in this picture?".
What puts MOS off (for me) are a few scenes that don't bend the characterization (as I interpreted him anyways) of Supes, but break it off to a point that I can't see the film and really feel: "This is a faithful enough adaptation of most of the comics over the decades"-- or -- "This is a great re-imagining of the comics' character".
While a good number of the changes just feel more convoluted than visionary (The Krypton material when I stop and think about it)-Many of the other scenes are forgiveable, but the two bits that are hard to rewatch (I've seen it twice now) - are the adult Clark telling Pa Kent, "You're not my father" and the bit at the end with Lois stepping down the stairs to comfort Superman.... many of the scenes just feel so artificial--- They were with Watchmen as well, but Watchmen (in any version) just felt smoother overall.
It's not JUST that they changed the comix imo, but that so many of the scenes were done in such an incompetent manner to me.
Smallville strayed- but if you cut out the Lana revolving melodrama and the convenient amnesia wipes, the drama is done well enough--- to give it credit where credit is due. There really are some amazing episodes that get to you, from its execution, even if it does take a few steps back from the comics continuity.
In any case, I do respect that there are some members here that genuinely love what they saw and that it did move them.
Hopefully MOS 2 is a giant improvement. I'll still be watching, but- just like the rebooted comics--- I hope that what I felt made the character great (to me) shows up in both the comics and the movies again.
