I admire the ambition. Superman then worlds finest and flashthen JL.
If they tie-in the "arrow" show (as is rumored) and arrow adds hal jordan (again as rumored) then they rocket ahead.
Look, marvel is better at cranking them out like a PEZ, but everyone loves to bitch about IM2- even though if that flick came out in the 80s we'd all go to bat for it- and fox marvel is very uneven. So, on paper, I say let WB ratchet it up and enjoy the ride. To be honest, I was not even expecting any official announcement other than "...yeah...mos2...we'll do that...sometime..." That they have ok'd the worlds finest and flash- ....giggity. we've asked that they grow a pair and they have.
If it fails we always have rocket racoon. If rocket racoon makes a billion, then WB can always make captain carrot and the zoo crew. Or green lantern: g'nort. It'd be about the same.
I understand the trepidation- but this is GOOD news.

So much ridiculousness. Like Pez? I think you've confused the two companies. Marvels start of their universe was much better received than DCs. If WB had any damn ambition we would have seen this long before Marvel did it. Marvel did it and now WBs figuring a away to jump on the gravy train. What Marvel did was not only much riskier but much better thought out. WBs take on worlds finest was the safest laziest thing they could have done instead of delivering a straight forward and improved sequel to MOS.

Well the vocal minority of MoS fans ought to be grateful for the superman/batman movie for at least this:
The before, during and after pathological obsessive H-H-H-yyyyy-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT'T'T'T Tuh! For superman/batman will dwarf the said pathological obsessive before during and after hate of man of steel.
Glass half full.

So much negativity. In the wake of MoS, I don't feel as connected to this board as much as I used to.
To me, this is basically the most exciting movie news ever. Can't wait.
I feel sorry for you all that you can't enjoy it as much. I really do.

I'm sorry to see you say that, UF.
Although I now see that SR was a big disappointment, when it first came out, I liked it a lot and I stuck with the board during the MASSIVE backlash.
I've also stuck with it during all the SW backlash too.
Now for the first time, I'm doing the hating and I still get backlash. Go figure.

Not my cup of tea, personally. And if it were not for the fact that The Avengers were so good, I'd have grown out of comic book movies for good.

This flick should be HARDER to pull off than a Superman film. But with the lack of top talent at the helm it doesn't give me confidence at all. WBs become so lazy and uncreative. They need some serious quality control but they don't seem to care as long as they can spit out lowest common denominator superhero movies that rake in major cash.

And Jor, for the record, I also don't care for Spider-Man, X-Men, and Wolverine. My 'hate' is not DC-exclusive.

It's great in a broad sense for everyone who wants comic book films to be profitable so that they keep on making them.
It's greater for people who loved (enough) of what was done by Goyer and Snyder in MOS.
To me, MOS feels like 'Smallville= the big budget version", in the sense that it's just a character that just feels so different from what I've grown up with, that its success feels very detached from me... TDKR kind of felt that way, too- with some of its story choices.
As far as the success goes-
Would I rather this have happened to SR? Absolutely, but it is what it is- and I wish somebody would FINALLY say at WB: "Ok, we made a ton of money with MOS- we'll ok that official Donner recut crazy asian man has been bitching and moaning about for so long."
At least I'll give Goyer this: He almost always has some interesting ideas in his scripts, and he (like Snyder) is a genuine comic fan, so I think there'll be SOMETHING worth checking out in MOS 2. Bale coming back would have been fun, (or even Gordon-Levitt), but oh well....

I duuno, CAM, I love "Smallville" but I never got that vibe while watching MoS. Other than the lefted flying/take off effects.
So, Superman/Batman? Before a single frame of film is exposed, half of you will love it, half of you will hate it, and I'll be around wondering if it will ever be filmed at all. Remind me, how close did George Miller come to filming about a decade ago? Oh yeah, fell apart after pre-production, casting, and costume tests.
Superman/Batman: I'll believe it when I see it.

"What I am is an old fuck. It's kind of like a fat fuck. Fat fuck, tall fuck, skinny fuck, short fuck ... old fuck. 'Who's the old fuck?' 'That's Georgie. He's the old fuck.' In this respect, 'fuck' is actually a synonym for the word 'fellow.'"

Wonder if Marvel had not led the way would they have gone this route so soon?
This really ought to have happened 3 years ago with Routh and Bale. Imagine that film with both Williams and Elfman's iconic scores?
Anyway, I'll see the results before getting excited.

Maybe I'm getting older, different priorities etc - but something was switched off back in 2006 after Superman IV del. scenes, "Donner" cut and SR all came out. All so underwhelming. I'll see the film for sure but I am not "connected" to it. I wasn't for MoS either (still not)

Fuck me this place is depressing as a superman fan now.
Amazing to think how desperate everyone was for the character to get back in the big screen pre 2006 now nobody can be bothered.

Actually I am interested in seeing Superman face off against a man in a bat costume. I don't envy the folk who have to write a script to make it look credible (within the parameters of the comic book of course). I am guessing Batman will have some Kryptonite and have his suit lead lined. Any physical confrontation is just going to look piss poor after MoS.
