I'm not thrilled tbh, I'd have been happier with him directing the film than playing Batman.

Well, Not a choice I was thinking about for a second. Didn't Affleck say that after daredevil he didn't want to do any more superhero movies. He will probably be serviceable, but just.

He's a much better actor than he used to be and might be able to give Snyder tips on directing while it's being made.
He could be great.

My initial reaction was to say:
"Oh...my...God...."
I don't know.
I think he's grown as an actor, certainly as a filmmaker.
Loved Argo, he was great in Hollywoodland, The Town, enjoyed him in Daredevil.
But as Batman?

Honestly I find this all strange as heck.
Affleck's proven himself a FANTASTIC director. He was originally linked with directing Justice League, now he's now directing but playing one of the main guys? It's just all really weird.

Honestly, Scissor, it doesn't take much to steal a scene from Cavill.

I agree. Affleck is great actor/filmmaker, but his presence on screen is DEFINITELY going to take away from Cavill/Superman. I dunno, good but not great casting, it coulda been worse, yada yada yada.

Previous rumoured actors were Bentley, Brolin, fucking Orlando Bloom. So why is anyone surprised they went with an A lister?
Man of Steel was superbly cast so I'll certainly give them the benefit of the doubt.

Trying to be objective, he's not a bad choice at all, just a weird one. You'd think he'd follow up his Best Picture winning movie with... I dunno... something better than acting in a comic book movie.

As soon as I heard Batman was hijacking the new Superman franchise, I stopped caring. So Ben Affleck being cast doesn't move me either way. They could've cast Urkel and I still wouldn't care.

Well... To be honest, I didn't end up thinking MOS was all that and that Cavill still has a lot of growing to do in the role. Anyone who's paid attention to my posts over the past 13 or so years knows I'm a Batman fan over Superman, but even
with that I'm just not for giving Batman the spotlight in what should be Superman's follow-up.
Ugh... Whatever. I'll still go see it. It's not very creative or exciting casting to me.

With Zack Snyder directing, my expectations are low. He proved he doesn't understand Superman.
And I see no indication that this will change in the sequel.
What will be interesting is what he will do wit Batman...

I just don't know if he could carry a film on his own financially, which is what I would consider A-list. Brolin would have been badass! I guess maybe that's why I seriously don't like this news, BROLIN! Fuck... That would have been something. |
