Brolin would have been good but I really wanted to see Karl Urban as Bats, specially after seeing Dredd.

You're right. Yeah, cause Superman would let his pa die. Superman mopes around like Donnie Darko. Superman gets into no-holds-barred super battles without consideration for bystanders.

As soon as I heard Batman was hijacking the new Superman franchise, I stopped caring. So Ben Affleck being cast doesn't move me either way. They could've cast Urkel and I still wouldn't care. and yet you still chimed in Yes. To say I don't care!

He proved he doesn't understand Superman. Not to me he didn't. Ignore that bollocks and with any luck he'll take it back to the MOS thread where the rest of the bile is. One thing that does concern me is Snyders official statement about this. It sort of suggests to me what I thought all along, in that Superman will probably end up being Batman's bitch. But maybe I'm reading into it too much.

In your opinion.
I thought MOS was a good intro for the character we know Superman to be to grow from. Who wants to see the same old stuff we've already got?
This news makes me want to watch Daredevil again. But I know I shouldn't. That playground scene is horrific! Why a girl with martial arts skills would think it fine to fight a blind man and then not even question his remarkable skills is beyond me. Daft film.

Daredevil.
I remember thinking it was gonna suck and was surprised when I ended up loving it.
Jennifer Garner was 100 times hotter than Amy Adams.
Come to think of it, I liked Daredevil was better than MOS.

Affleck is going to upstage Cavill.
In a few years, he's goin to be making home videos with Routh and Tim Daly.

Or perhaps Cavill will up his game. Why so negative?
Cavill's already more successful than Routh and now he's got a sequel which is no doubt going to be huge. I can't see him fading into the shadows just yet.

Funny thing is casting Affleck means they must have a lot of confidence in Cavill.
With any luck Jimbo can clean up Enrique's bile and give him his own little thread to vent his nerd rage.

Melv,
Batman is 100% pure damage control.
You know it, I know it.
They don't want to suffer the embarrassment of another reboot, so how you pump dollars out of it?
Trying to emulate what Marvel is doing.
But Cavill isn't RDJ. They're counting on Affleck.
Affleck's a good actor, but I have a feeling this might have a sort of Amazing Spider-Man effect on Batman because this movie is virtually GUARANTEED to not be anywhere near as good as the Nolan films.

Melv, Batman is 100% pure damage control. You know it, I know it. You're probably right, but I don't see why it has to be bad. I always wanted there to be a B/S film before a JL film anyway and if this is popular we will get more standalones as well. Batman is the crowd-pleaser like Wolverine in X-Men. You can't blame them for doing it. I would have liked a MOS sequel to fix the issues with the first but if it was this or nothing I'll always take this. I don't think we'll be having any reboots for a good while. This is a guaranteed money-maker.

Melv,
With a good portion of people thinking MOS was mediocre, and a good portion of people loving the Nolan flicks, and replacing an EXTREMELY popular Batman actor, I don't think this is another Avengers.
It'll do good to ok, but I'm not so confident.
DC films still has a major clusterfuck on their hands and they're not out of it yet.

These films are like Bond films. They're part of everyone's consciousness no matter if they really liked any previous version.
People will always give the new guy a go. If it's not very good, it's not very good but I honestly can't see it being awful. Also, this concept is unique. There has never been a Batman and Superman film before. I think most people would at least see it. Avengers made 3 times the amount of all the other Marvel films separately. Do you think most of the people that saw it had seen the others? It was the concept of teaming up Superheroes that drew in the crowds. Teaming up these two has got to be as compelling, if not moreso, to the average joe as everyone and their nan knows who both of these characters are.
Hopefully they learn from the flaws of MOS and make this a bit more fun.
I just want to remain positive. There's such a thing as a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you convince yourself it'll be bad before the fact it'll take a heck of a lot to change your mind.

Fuck, you guys are slipping.

It's just that Snyder has made 3 disappointing movies in a row.
I have no reason to believe he'll bounce back in this type of movie. Watchmen was very average, Sucker Punch was awful and the consensus out there was that MOS was mediocre.
Affleck is a good actor, but after investing in three awesome Batman films that lay a great foundation for the character, we get a new Batman.
This doesn't remind me of Bond, it reminds me of Amazing Spider-Man.

On another forum I visit for wrestling talk and other stuff, there's a lone superhero/comic book movie thread, and it's trolled by a guy who thinks that talent the level of Liam Neeson, Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, and Ben Affleck should stop "lowering themselves" to appear in these movies to appease the "knuckle draggers" who are so awful to sheck out their money for this "fucking garbage." So, at least we don't have to put up with that bullshit here.

I always try to be civil. What's the point in bickering, especially over the internet?
Anyway, I know what you mean about being disappointed with MOS but the character can survive anything if it can survive SIV and SR, both hugely unpopular. MOS made more than half a billion worldwide. Disappointing or not, it was definitely moderately successful and worthy of a sequel just to write its own wrongs if anything. Also, Snyder didn't fail at bringing to the screen what was written. His only apparent controversial addition was the neck break.
I think the addition of a quality director like Affleck to the cast will only help Snyder when it comes to the drama. I'm sure he can give us the action anyway. Let's just remain positive. If it's shit, it's only a movie. If it's great, then we will have a great Superman and Batman movie to enjoy the rest of our lives and at least you know we'll have a lot to talk about either way!
