Yeah, literally, it'd be absolutely motherfucking PATHETIC for the people who bemoaned and bitched about MOS to buy it. Like, truly, COMPLETELY pathetic.
Can't wait to see who does it!

Well, no-one here (not even the Reeve Only People) ever said that MoS was all bad or all crap. The point has been that it started off well, had some good stuff in it, but then turned to crap in the last third. I'm going to buy the DVD too, but only if I can cut off the last third.

It may be difficult to remember coming off a massive Thread-Post-War, but yeah, I've been saying for months that I needed to see it again.
I've even said during the war that the movie started off well, but that something faltered in the midway point that caused the movie to fall apart.
Even though I've only seen the film once, I kept trying to put my finger on what caused that nosedive at the midway point, but I think ATP nailed it a couple of weeks back when he pointed out that the whole realistic "how the world would react to Superman/aliens" angle was forgotten about. That's a pretty fucking big angle to drop when you consider that Jonathan Kent died for it. That means Jonathan died for nothing.
I also had a big problem with the Metropolis battle. Having just watched The Avengers, MOS's problems are heightened: the Avengers were protecting people, or at least you could see the effort. Here are the Avengers battling MASSIVE, fictious aliens, yet the humanity and threat came off more bang than the vaunted realistic approach.
Again, I meant to see MOS a second time in the theater, but never got around to it.

Why is Cavill's head crystal clear but the costume fuzzy?

Because Hollywood cover art is getting worse every years. Show me a Drew Struzan, and I'll show you a poster that makes a shit movie look fantastic.

I wish there was a way to know what the bonus material really is on the Target release. Both Target and Best Buy now and then have some pretty cool exclusive stuff that I don't see anywhere else... the bummer is that if you don't catch it on the first day, sometimes the 'exclusive stuff' sells out if you wait until Wednesday (happened to me twice)

I'm getting to a point where I don't give a shit about extras anymore, unless it's a really in-depth feature-length documentary. I've just got no desire to play multiple 10-minute tracks on shit I don't care about like effects work. I'd rather hear about casting, see screen tests, hear about the writing process, more of the story stuff. Of all the extras out there, I think the big documentaries on the first Star Wars DVD box set ("Empire of Dreams" I think was the name) and the Indiana Jones set are fantastic. So were the ones with the last two Superman boxes.
And God save me from actors and directors sitting around talking about how wonderful everyone is to work with. Bullshit. You know what was refreshing about the documentary on "Bram Stoker's Dracula"? Oldman and Coppola talked about how they would bitch and argue with each other on performance and virtually stall simple scenes because both guys thought their way was the best. It was amazing to see these people admit to this. But it's true: the creative collaborative process often involves some bickering. It's not a bad thing. If they didn't give a shit, they wouldn't fight over it.
So, I'll stick with my Walmart pre-order simply because it's already done and I don't want to fuck with changing it. But it's nice to know I'm getting a steelbook for my effort.

The best "making of" docs are the ones made by the guy who does Ridley Scott's bonus features. The guy gives a feature length doc and breaks it down in 4 or 5 sections. It's brilliant stuff. But outside of that...if I'm a real big fan of a movie, I'll watch the special features. And that usually has to do with who's making the movie. I'll always watch a "making of" if the movie is directed by Ridley, David Fincher, James Cameron, and Kubrick. Believe it or not, Spielberg or Chris Nolan don't interest me enough to watch their docs because usually, it's not in-depth.

Yeah, extras have gone way downhill in the last few years. I used to eat them up, now it's just publicity blowjobs. We bought the fucking movie. We don't need to hear how great it is.

With dvd sales going downhill, you'd think that studios would 'up their game' and add better bonus features for these things. If someone is going to buy rather than rent something, then usually they'd be willing to pay more to get more for things that are substantial, rather than extra fluff. Oh well...

Is the blu going to have the trailers on it? Not only do they not make any good documentaries anymore, they don't bother with trailers. Say what you want about MOS, but the trailers were outstanding, specifically the third one with Zimmer's score.

Don't know why trailers seem to be getting dropped from Dvd/Blu-ray releases. If the studio really wanted to know what dvd/bluray buyers WANT in bonus features, you'd think that they would reach out more to fans/customers to find out. (Wouldn't be all that hard to put out a questionnaire with Best Buy/Target/etc. other major retailers if they wanted to do real research, I would think)

BRAD- i think i read that snyder is going to do an immersive documentary like wht he did for watchmen- wehre the film plays, then he stops, and goes behind the scenes of the particular scene, showing the live action, animatics and then editing- it should be pretty damn cool.
i cant wait. its a couple more weeks!

i bought the bluray 'S' shield case set. One feature talks about the MOS movie, another focuses on the action element of the movie, another short one hosted by Dylan Sprayberry, & then the 75th anniversary animated video & surprisingly a feature about the Hobbit movie talking about how great the NZ filming location is (WTF!!! ??). NO DELETED SCENES Seriously the marketing blitz videos leading up to the MOS release are waaaay much better. They could very well be the special features of the bluray. Wont be surprised if DVD special features of the future is summed up in one sentence: for special features pls click www.youtube.comSR's dvd special features is still by far the best & EPIC!

The Blu-ray of MOS is quite stunning. The 5.1 mix is great too especially in the Learning to Fly sequence. Lots of room in the audio with the score mostly to the rear and effects to the front. A lot better than I remember in the cinema.
Special features showed a lot more wire work than I though there was, however by the filmmakers admission they CGI'd over a lot of it.

Enrique~
The cover is "fuzzy" because its lenticular to look 3d when you have it in person. I posted a gif of it somewhere not too long ago.

Looks like target will have the best deal on release week. Exclusive digibook packaging as well as extra bonus features ( nobody knows if these are on the disc, a bonus disc or a shirty download.)
First week sale price 19.99, 10% off coupon via target cartwheel app, $17.99 plus tax. Pretty good deal.
