Um... parasite wasn't invested for the animated series. There have actually been a couple. I will admit that the rudy jones that they had on the series was done very well indeed though.

Nice catch with Animated stuff, Costa! I had totally forgotten about the "hovering outside Lex's office" thing, which was TOTALLY badass in the cartoon.
Shit, I think I know what I'm doing this weekend now...
I just wish Johns and Frank would continue on a Superman monthly, and just pick up where Secret Origin left off. I'd never miss an issue.

I'm definitely watching the animated pilot this weekend too, no question. After you watch it, tell me you don't notice how heavily influenced Secret Origins was from the animated series pilot.
I totally agree that I wish this was a monthly thing... I feel kind of lost now as I want to read more, but don't know what to look for.

Two other brilliant Johns/Frank Superman collaborations are "Brainiac" and "Superman and the Legion of Super Heroes". "Brainiac" is really what Superman III could have/should have been. If you think Secret Origins feels like a Reeve movie, then hold on to your hat for this one.
"Superman and The Legion" dovetails nicely with the stuff they set up in Secret Origin, with an adult Superman going to the 31st Century to help the Legion whup the asses of some anti-alien bigots. Very good (awesome if you're a Legion fan) but not quite as good as "Brainiac".
Both are definitely worth a read.

Thanks for the tip, both are in trade paperback I assume? I'll definitely check out Brainiac first, I trust your judgement.
What's the deal with the New Krypton saga?

It's ok. It's worth a read, but it's not great. Buy the other ones, get New Krypton out of the library.

Just finished Secret Origin. LOVED it. I wanna have Gary Frank's babies. Now, thanks to a Kingly Birthday gift from Jor-L5150, I'll be starting on Brainiac soon. good timed lie ahead.

How is Ending Battle? I have that on my list, too.
I just ordered the hardcover of Secret Origin. I don't think I finished reading the separate issues, so this'll be awesome.

(if you want to borrow the TPB let me know)

Let me know how Ending Battle is, guys. Never read it. heck, start another thread for it, as the comic section of the board could use a few new ones.

Brainiac is the pinnacle of the Johns/Frank stuff. It is also what I wish to heck either Superman III or Superman Returns was.
It's perfect.

I purchased a couple of issues, before I totally dumped it- as I thought the premise interesting, but WAYYYYY too many cooks and storylines right off the bat. If it had been under ONE writer, it might have been different, but it felt like the greed of DC killed that whole series for me. I don't mind crossovers when it's not overdone, but I even thought the "Blackest Night" series was too much. (I bought two of the hardbacks that were supposed to cover it all, and still got lost. Nice moments, but I hate it when they require you to buy all 20 titles+ to get the full story.)

Is there a New Krypton collected book?

There's a few volumes of it. But seriously...it's crap. It's not unreadable or offensive or anything, it's just not very good. It's REALLY frustrating, because the concept is great, but the execution is so poor. It'd be LESS annoying if it was irretrievable garbage, but the fact that it's just so boring and bland is almost worse.
Check 'em out of the library or something for a read before you buy.

I just have to see what happens after Brainiac.
Y'know.....because of how it ended & all.

I totally understand. I was the same way.
A word of advice since you're intent on doing this to yourself. Just do the core mini-series, and then the "World of New Krypton" trades. AVOID the Mon-El by Robinson and Nightwing/Flamebird garbage by Rucka. At least World of New Krypton has some terrific character stuff with Supes and Zod.
One thing it did successfully, was they managed to actually make Zod a three-dimensional character for the first time in his 50+ year history.
