Most of the figures I've seen so far look like crap. The movie masters doesn't look to bad, and that statue from the last two pics looks awesome, and that other one posted above the statue looks pretty good too. But really.. That's about it. The 4inch figures look absolutely horrible.
I'm tired of mattel and their cheap looking figures. They need to take a page out of Hasbro's book imo.

I stopped by Walmart for some dog food and sun screen, and I couldn't resist picking up a basic Superman figure. I hate to say it, but I'm disappointed in what Mattel has put on the market. The figure has a cloth cape, but it is frayed in multiple spots. Also, it has a lovely hole right in the middle, made by those annoying plastic bits that secure price tags to shirt tags. This figure is tiny as well. Standing next to a few other basic Superman figures, it's not even as tall as my '89 ToyBiz Superman. It's about half the height of the "Superman Returns" figure. At least that looks like Routh. The "Man of Steel" figure is too small for sculpting a likeness of Cavill. It's just a generic square-jawed face with dark hair. The paint job is so-so. The chest is molded so the shield stands out from the body slightly. However, the printing of the logo looks a hair too large for the raised area. Also, the body suit is a solid color. The wrist cuffs and piping on the side abdomen and down the thighs doesn't stand out, as we've seen on the real costume. The faint gold band around the waist, the classic belt's replacement in this costume design, isn't painted on at all. Just the "buckle." The Routh figure's paint is so finely detailed that the shield buckle has the maroon in the negative space of the S. My brother said he found a 31-inch figure in Georgia and is getting it for me. I'll be interested to see what kind of detail it has.

I agree with Keith, pretty much all the figures based on Henry Cavill are crap. There is barely any likeness in the face.

Uh... I want these.... now! So far these look Great! I hope the head sculpts are good. Does anyone else notice a partial Batman logo/outline on Jor'El's Crest?

Absolutely. That's funny...
Also--- figuring that Hot Toys' Cavill Superman head sculpt HAS to be on the same level as the Reeve Superman... otherwise, they'd be going backwards quality wise- and I'm sure that they're aware that collectors will be bloging/comparing the two figures all over the net when it comes out...

That's what I'm figuring. They can't drop the ball on this one. But I'll Tell you right now, if the sculpt isn't on par with Reeve's and their better sculpts, they ain't getting a dime from me. I'll get one of the statues or something.

I hear you- Hot Toys ain't cheap. I'm definitely hoping that Hot Toys internally has set Reeve's Supes as the 'standard' that they won't drop below now...

Didn't see this one coming... Could think of more STM or SII figures I'd want to see before this, shame they didn't bother to change the sculpt. Anyone can dirty up a costume.

Well they seem to have added some stubble to the face. I think it has a WOW factor. For me anyhow. But it would be good if figures of Ursa and Non were made to compliment Zod. Then you could recreate the trial scene using the dolls.

I've seen some people make their own Evil Supes with the Reeve Hot Toys and they've looked a lot better than what Hot Toys is putting out. The costume needs to be a little darker, and they still haven't fixed the S logo on the chest.. Same sculpt, just different paint job. I'm a bit disappointed honestly. I'm holding out for the Cavill Hot Toys (as long as they change the body, it's too bulky.) Or that Cavill statue pictured above. Hot Toy's needs to make a Reeve Clark Kent w/ shirt rip function and both a Clark and Superman head, complete with glasses, trench coat, newspaper, hat, briefcase and the memory crystal.

Does he come with a bottle of Red Label as an accessory? I'm holding out for the Gus Gorman Smallville statue, with foam cowboy hat and liquor suitcase. And I want a pull string that has him scream SINGAPOR SLING!

Gotta agree, didn't see this coming at all. Pretty fracking lazy effort too. Would have expected a new head at the very least. If they were gonna go it properly they should beef up his body too. I'll save my dosh for this:

More than anything the Evil superman needed a new head (Everything else I could deal with). One with a different expression and hairstyle. It's be nice if they could somehow make alternate needs to include but I know that won't happen. They might have to make changes to the way the head attaches.
Clark Kent is a must. Has anyone used the Routh and Reeve Hot Toys figures to cobble together a custom Reeve Clark Kent?

Has anyone used the Routh and Reeve Hot Toys figures to cobble together a custom Reeve Clark Kent? Here's my Clark custom. I took a dremel to his head and then resculpted the hair, so the parting is on the correct side.

You're braver than me- I wouldn't want a dremel anywhere NEAR a hot toys superman!

Great job on the hair. It's taken a while to source all of the bits but I think it was worth it. I had to dye the shirt to get it the right colour, and the tie was created from photos of the replica released a while back (thanks Matt). The glasses were the real pain to get decent. In the end I had to find some close enoughs and re-work them a bit, as well as paint them. You're braver than me- I wouldn't want a dremel anywhere NEAR a hot toys superman! I was pretty anxious about the possibility of messing it up, repainting the hair was scary too, avoiding the face was fiddly work.

Hot Toys is on a roll. www.aintitcool.com/node/63319West and Ward Batman and Robin, multiple Iron Man armors, and it looks like a Hulks in there too. Lots of other stuff. If I were filthy rich I'd buy everything they ever make.

Dude, I so want the '66 Batman and Robin. Those looks freaking awesome! Now if WB/Fox can finally work out the distribution rights for the TV Show....

Awesome...
If they had cast Adam West (in 60's tv Batman style costuming) to go up against Superman for the next film, I would have bought a ticket right here and now, if only for creative wackiness.

Looks like Mattel is doing a Movie Masters Superman of the Reeve movies.. taken from the NYCC. Sculpt doesn't look too bad. General Zod looks good. But I must say, the "S" logo is absolutely horrible!!! Makes the Hot Toys "S" look perfect. I know these are just the prototypes and they are subject to change before release but good lord that logo is bad. Also, movie masters Batman 89 is coming out as well.. from the pics I've seen there are two Batmans one with and one without the cowl on and a Catwoman from Batman Returns.
