There are few things that I don't like about it. Not trying to be negative, but they could have brightened up the color a bit. It's too dark for me. And the texture of the material that is used, it reminds me of scuba gear. The stilts on the soles of his boots are extremely noticable and his S-Shield is too small. His cape - there is no s-sheld on the back of it, which I would have liked better. His belt, the S-design on the buckle looks a bit like a lightning bolt which I also don't like. To be different from the other movies is one thing, but this costume design I just flat out dislike. I notice that in the current DC comics line, not in everything is it drawn as such, but the Routh belt buckle with the lightning-like (sort of like a lightning bolt) bolt design is often drawn. The comics adopted it from the movie. I liked the costume better without the "S" on his belt and only on his chest and the back of his cape.

There were times where an S was drawn on the belt buckle way before the movie came out. It's not the first time it's been done.
I agree there are somethings about the suit that could have been a lil better. But over all I like it. I like how it brings all era's of Superman's and brings them together. Singer loved all incarnations of Superman, not just the Donner-verse.
Hopefully with the SR sequel (or Re-Boot if WB is that stupid) the costume will be a little brighter and an S shield on the cape. That's all I want.

I like the SR suit a lot. But I'd LOVE it if the red was a little brighter. I still think it looked great in the daylight scenes like the plane rescue. And the cape looks more regal without the S on it, imo.

Yes yea yes.... I couldn't believe when I saw Routh's brown suit; I had a WTF moment. I mean I know they almost had a Superman with razor blades and a black cape... but even that woulda been better than a glum sour brown sh*t colored cape!
(Does Gene Hackman voice) What am I gonna do with you Routh?... I held up my end I watch your Superman movie... what do I get for my ten bucks? A BIG BROWNY SEWAGE CAPE... that kind of thing closes out of town!!!

Cape shouldn't be regal. He's Superman, not Superking.

His cape was too thick. It looked like a shower curtain.

Cape shouldn't be regal. He's Superman, not Superking. Well I like my Superman to look elegant and regal, and I think the SR cape enhanced that. He IS the king of superheroes, and he is like Prince Charming with a cape to me. We all view Superman in our own way. I see nothing wrong with that.

Uhhh... Superman is Christopher Reeve and he wears Reeve's costume. This is a well known fact.

Nope. Chris Reeve IS Superman. Reeve was PERFECT as Superman and perfection cannot be improved upon. Therefore Reeve is the one and only Superman.

Don't listen to Dick Seargent 15, Keith. I agree with you. Of course some people here think Chris Reeve as Superman (who I'm a huge fan of) was right and Jerry Seigel and Joe Shuster were totally wrong.

If the suit itself really does make Routh look thinner, then the material is the biggest problem. If Routh actually looked buff while wearing the suit, I might be able to overlook the other problems. I still would prefer a bright red, larger boots with no lifts, larger logo and briefs, a wider neckline and a cloth cape. Ok, that's the typical suit design, so maybe I'm biased, but to me it just looks better, and the SR look doesn't make Superman more modern and serious.

I hated the new suit.. poor colours and big anorak cape..The suit does not represent how Superman looks in the comics.. Thats why Reeve's suit was so good because he looked like how superman was drawn.

I think Singer got most of his inspiration from the Fleischer cartoons.

I think the whole movie was too dark, so it was hard to tell what kind of red he wore.
But, I would definitely make the cape material a little lighter in terms of weight. It seemed like it would hang too heavy and choke Routh or at least leave a red mark on his neck.
And I know I'm going to get rapped in the mouth for this, but the curl just doesn't work anymore. It's ridiculous. Give the guy more of a wavy hair style up front, but not an actual curl.

I'm sorry but the curl HAS to stay, it is ICONIC.
If they start making too many changes to his look, he will become irrecognizable. I think that one of the reasons Superman has endured all these years is because he hasn't changed that much, look included.
Sure, make the curl a little more natural looking, but don't lose it. Please.

The curl would work if it looked more natural. Like a real curl. Not a curl that someone created. I get'em all the goddamn time, and it's ridiculous. People think I'm doing it to look like Superman, but when my hair gets all mussed up, it just somehow tends to naturally form a perfect "S" curl in the middle of my forehead. Quite annoying when you're a huge Superman fan and people know it. It's not on purpose, dammit!
Anyhoo. I LOVE the cape, personally. I dunno why. I never cared all too much for Reeve's. It was too short. That bothered me a lot. I even like Cain's cape more than Reeve's. But Routh's, I think, is almost perfect. It seems like it makes the most sense, realistically. I'd want a cape that's a little heavier so it's not all over the goddamn place when I'm flying and landing and such.
The S should be a little bigger and the colors should be brighter and the boots should be less heightened, and that'd be about all I'd change. Otherwise, I love it. The little S's thing doesn't even bother me anymore, in fact, I kinda like it.

My hair is a little long right now so I get 'em too. I slick it back but it does its own thing after awhile.

Since we're on the subject of Conan, he's been getting rather emotional these past few episodes. Damn, just two more to go.
