Gene Wilder should have stepped in for Gene Hackman in Superman III, then the comedy team of Wilder/Pryor would have given us another classic, laugh-a-minute motion picture. Brilliant.

I missed this.
All I am waiting for is a decent HD transfer of Superman II theatrical. I wouldn't mind seeing SIII and IV for fun as well and it'd be better to see IV's deleted scenes complete for once, like the tornado and missile parts.

Is it too late to mail off that screwed-up Superman III disc? I guess I procrastinated on that.

I doubt it. As long as those faulty DVDs are still in circulation and sold, WB will still have to offer replacements, well you'd assume so anyway.
I tried to get my STM disc sent back 1.5years ago because it didn't have the 1978 audio, only the remastered one in 5.1 and 2.0 and was told they would happily replace it as long as I sent them the disc.

Amazon.uk has it up for preorder, billed as The Superman Motion Picture Anthology 1978 - 2006. The release date will be June 13 of this year. It will only include 5 discs and I'm pretty sure Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut will be nixed and the releases of Superman: The Movie and Superman Returns will be the same ones we've had for a while. What a great disapointment.

Warner Bros. should use this next big release as the opportunity to give us the following:
1. Complete restored KCOP of STM **2. STM theatrical with soundtrack only** (Could be a special feature on disc one, as blu-ray can hold a lot more space). 3. Selutron's version of S2 (whatever it may be) **4. Theatrical S2 with remastered picture and audio** **5. Remastered widescreen RIC of S2** 6. S3 with the additional tv material (I believe it's about 20 minutes of added footage) 7. The complete 134 minute version of S4, remastered with finished effects/soundtrack/and so on. Now, I'm somewhat on the fence about this, only because the bad effects may hold a special place in the hearts of some of us. I can enjoy S4 for the "so bad it's good" factor, so I don't know if I'd like to see it fixed up. The asterisks for numbers 4 and 5 are there because if I had to choose only one between the 3 different versions, obviously I'm going with Selutron.
My opinion? They should put their money into releasing THIS set that I just detailed and stop re-packaging the same thing over and over again.

We know it's standard now that the release will just mirror the DVD set. Then upon promoting Snyderman they will (if they have any sense-which they don't) release a sexed up edition. They better bloody had do... As long as the RIC of I and II are there, cleaned up and in the correct format I'am in.

God, how lazy & vomit inducing. Even worse, they mis-spelled "1987" as "2006". fucking retards.

why can't they just release a blu ray reeve box set? i guess they figure if they don't cram superman returns into every set, no one will buy it on it's own. and that combination of the two "S" symbols is retarded. should've just been the reeve one.

I was checking the HD screenings on the Uk tv channels today.
Superman 3 had the new WB moving logo at the start...leading me to think it is from the same HD version that will be included in the set.
Superman 2 LC had the old WB logo, it was dirty. Obviously not from a remastered source.
With 5 discs I can only assume that the LC will not be in this set.
Am I completely off the mark here?

I think that box-set art is OK. Would prefer a Reeve-only box set though with the correct "S"

Apparently there is going to be 6 or 7 discs, I'm sure I read somewhere. They desperately need the S2 theatrical cut in there, it would be a crime not to include it. I also seriously hope this set gives each movie lossless audio, otherwise it's just another lazy release by WB.

Considering the crappy box art it will probably be a crappy box set. I hope its just not a 2006 repackage. There needs to be restoration to SII and SIII. If not I won't buy it.

This is followed by Superman II - Special Edition in which our boy in blue must do battle with three escaped super criminals bent on destroying the earth. Presented here in both its theatrical and director's cut versions, the latter is expanded by an alternate beginning and ending, as well as 15 minutes of restored footage of Marlon Brando as Jor-El. In the third instalment in the franchise, Superman III - Deluxe Edition, Superman learns of his Achilles heel when he is exposed to kryptonite. The penultimate Superman IV - The Quest For Peace sees the Man of Steel take on Nuclear Man, culminating in an explosive showdown of epic proportions. When the Super One returns to Earth in Superman Returns - Special Edition, he discovers that the woman he loves, Lois Lane, has moved on with her life, and must figure out how to protect a world that has learned to survive without him.

Unless it includes Return To Krypton, there's no reason for that "Special Edition" tag on SR is there? Weaaaaaaak.

My question is - why are we getting this set? And why now?
We already have 3 out of the 5 movies here on Blu-ray.
WB are notorious for releasing these sets when the new properties come out to maximise on sales.
If there is nothing new than why don't WB wait until next December?
My opinion is that a more extensive set will be released next December and this is a gimmick to clear out old Blu-ray discs.
Either that or they don't want the Chris Reeve movies to be prominent and compared to the new movie in Dec 2012.

I want STM and SII theatricals on Blu.
I wonder if there will be anything new, extra wise?
Could they possibly be using new transfers? What if all the Superflicks were getting remastered? Christ, can you imagine?
